In this context the correct spelling is "Goof."

Hee, hee ~ another self projection.

Nice try but you fail again - Obamacare subsidizes those who cannot afford insurance just as the Tax Code does for Fortune 500 companies.

Keep trying.

The GOP is in serious trouble, they went to the wall and Obama beat them and
he looks reasonable the Republicans sacrificed their reputation at the expense
of the respectable people in the Republican Party. It is nothing short of a real
disaster for the Tea Party their sole purpose in life was to destroy Obama and he
beat them. Republicans need to admit the Tea Party is a fringe group of nut
cases and fiscal conservatives don't need their nonsense anymore.

Yes, the Tea Baggers are not having much fun nowadays:

Tea Party popularity plummets

Tea Party popularity plummets | MSNBC

"Recent developments in Washington have clearly taken a toll on the Republican Party’s national standing. The GOP wasn’t popular before it shut down the government, but it’s in far worse shape now.

But it’s not just the party overall that’s suffering – support for a specific right-wing subset of the party is in free fall, too. The Pew Research Center published these results this afternoon.
The Tea Party is less popular than ever, with even many Republicans now viewing the movement negatively. Overall, nearly half of the public (49%) has an unfavorable opinion of the Tea Party, while 30% have a favorable opinion."

And Pew is a right wing source!

So after all the fuss, the Democrats still got exactly what they wanted.

And the Republican party now has their lowest approval rating in recorded history.

Democracy has prevailed.

Republicans have as their base corporate welfare queens who live off the government. But their numbers are smaller than the patriotic and hard working democratic majority of Americans. The new senator in New Jersey is a Democrat and a new member of Congress in Florida (from a Republican district) is a Democrat. These people won because Americans know it is the obstructionist Tea Baggers who are trying to disrupt and destroy America.

Hooray for democracy!

Nope- The major focus was stopping ObamaCare.
When that plan failed- Cruz, Rubio and the other guy disappeared from the media.

And rightfully so. Obama's plan required a strong economy and employment sector to stand a chance of working. Right now, that specific piece of legislation is resulting in more employees being transferred to part time and companies either downsizing or thinking really, really hard before expansion.

.... So tell me, was the GOP push-back really about Obamacare (in principle) or the myriad of negative effects that went along with it?

Note how many lost their renomination bids with money flooding in from the Koch Bros and others.
Both parties have to agree on long ter cuts, changing the taz code, increasing revenue.

I wonder if the money from Koch Brothers and any other similar corporate interests will simply dry-up as these folks may consider allocating assets outside the US.

Google, Apple, Haliburton and Invesco have already done so

They'll do what they did last time. invest in precious metals. I hope they do. I've been hoarding silver again.

I'm amazed that silver hasn't moved as much as it should have.... Kinda too bad that the strike wasn't still on, I was curious about the price of gold and the impact that a (near) default would have had.... More of a currency play really, but seeing how gold is traded in USD, I was thinking that the greenback would deflate and the price of an ounce would rise accordingly.

The best way to gauge the dollar is by the Swiss Franc which is still backed by gold. The dollar bounced back a little in the past couple of days.

There is a lot of silver in use by consumers. The gadget boom fueled the climb over the last few years and levelled out as gadget sales declined but when the price of silver dropped so did production which means it's going to rise again shortly.

Just listening to CNN and what did I hear, Cruz and company have already
threatened to shut down the government again if necessary. Most of the
responsible Republicans are not planning to go there. The Tea Party is
the big loser here and now they stand to be wiped out in the future.

Seeing how you disapprove of anything that the GOP does, what's the point of even having an opposition in gvt?

Apparently the Dems can't do no wrong and the real solution here is to eliminate all political parties entirely and just have a Supreme Ruler do what's best for the plebes

Upon reading up a bit on these tea baggers I'm beginning to wonder if they are as bad as everyone makes them out to be, maybe a few of them are necessary to help keep things on an even keel. They do seem to understand the old theory about not spending money you ain't got. Of course that philosophy is certain to make one unpopular. We are living in a spend, spend, spend mentality.

Most of the spending is on structural spending, such as social security, where the costs go up no matter what you do. Yet the US pays 2x as much for healthcare than any other country, get little to show for it, and the tea party wants that status quo. Someone is making huge money from a country spending double what they should be, and those deep pockets will fight healthcare initiatives to the bitter end.

The money is a death gratuity, an unofficial practice provided to the spouses of deceased members of Congress. Senate aides said Wednesday that surviving spouses receive one year of the late lawmaker's salary.
Goober: Maybe last election cycle Christie would have won. For 2016, I am not too certain. We Americans are done with all current politicians. They be stinkin a nasty stench and we want a stable, balanced individual in office. Someone to rise above the talk show subjects. Someone who WORKS.

Too funny. For one thing, it has been shown that sociopaths and psychopaths naturally rise to positions of power. They run the corporations and the political parties. They are not interested in what you want, just their own power and wealth. But they know how to act sincere and manipulate the people into electing them all the time. Obama came across as sincere and look what you got. If you think you are going to get a real person to run for that job, well, I have a bridge in New Mexico you might be interested in.

That is quite the assumption.
