The gun control debate was over years ago. They will confiscate. What's all that miltary/police hardware for?

If he pushed hard on the gun thing he could suspend the election and prolong his career, job, mission, part whatever.

WORLD (2) | BUSINESS The Most Criminal Treaty in History is Finally Presented for Signing

Eric ZUESSE | 07.10.2015 | 09:51
As of 5 October 2015, a super-secret 12-nation treaty called TPP (The Trans-Pacific Partnership) is set to be signed by the 12 nations, and the terms of this massive international contract will be kept secret until the contract has been in force for four years, at which time the contents might (but won’t necessarily) be revealed. This will be a large new international government that has been negotiated for years by international corporations, and which is now to be rubber-stamped by corrupt politicians on their behalf. Whereas those international corporations know the contract’s terms, the people who elected and are ruled by those politicians

Nobody voted for that either.

Obama ain't doing squat. First off, being permitted to use an executive order to alter the Constitution would lead to a very dangerous precedent.
Secondly, what's to stop someone else down the road, maybe even the next president, from using an executive order to reinstate the 2nd?

Personally, I think the story is bullsquirt.

Black Friday breaks record with 185K gun background checks

More Americans had their backgrounds checked purchasing guns on Black Friday than any day on record, according to data released by the FBI this week.

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System processed 185,345 requests on Nov. 27, one of the largest retail sales days in the country.

"This was an approximate 5% increase over the 175,754 received on Black Friday 2014," wrote Stephen Fischer, the FBI's chief of multimedia productions. "The previous high for receipts were the 177,170 received on 12/21/2012."

Previous spikes for background checks, conducted before a gun buyer can obtain a firearm, occurred after prominent mass shootings, like in December 2012 in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Since 1998, FBI data shows that the bureau has processed requests for more than 220 million firearm purchases.

I actually think access to guns is off the charts in the US. Nobody needs a semi or automatic weapon. I have worked with many different types of weapons and explosives, but have no need for them in civilian life. I don't think being a collector qualifies either. I also think that if soft democrats wanted to stop major gun violence, they were target the criminals who commit the bulk of these crimes, not make stupid statements that have no relation to the issue.

FYI, autos have been banned since 1986, with a grandfather clause that allows you to have one that was already here. Requires registration with ATF and an annual tax stamp. I don't think a legal auto has been used in a shooting since 1986.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the criminals who commit the bulk of these crimes." They do target them. With laser sights. They're either killed, commit suicide, or tried and executed. Claiming that the "soft Democrats" are somehow letting them get away is simply counterfactual.

Unless you mean "groups to which the criminals who commit the bulk of these crimes belong." In which case you're looking for right-wing white supremacists.

You could confiscate every gun in the country but if anyone thinks that will preclude killing, they have another think coming! :)

Just more speech talk nothing will change.

Bad things happen and politicians make a speech and after awhile the speech is forgotten and nothing happens. Especially with this one.

Rather.

And erm besides the autos and whatnot, what the hell is the use of anything with a 4 cm barrel? Shooting down balloons at a kid's birthday party? Scaring critters that do not like loud noises?

If they pass new gun laws I am sure they will stop this violence... Just like our drug laws stop drug use.
