Just more speech talk nothing will change.

Bad things happen and politicians make a speech and after awhile the speech is forgotten and nothing happens. Especially with this one.

What a lot of people don't understand is to stop bad things from happening you have to get rid of bad people! It's not rocket science. :)

You would have thought they learned something with prohibition huh?

You mean expecting different results when they keep doing the same stupid things over and over? :)

Probably pretty difficult to prevent things that you can't know about until they happen.

FYI, autos have been banned since 1986, with a grandfather clause that allows you to have one that was already here. Requires registration with ATF and an annual tax stamp. I don't think a legal auto has been used in a shooting since 1986.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the criminals who commit the bulk of these crimes." They do target them. With laser sights. They're either killed, commit suicide, or tried and executed. Claiming that the "soft Democrats" are somehow letting them get away is simply counterfactual.

Unless you mean "groups to which the criminals who commit the bulk of these crimes belong." In which case you're looking for right-wing white supremacists.

I guess you can't have it both ways. You either have to support one extreme or the other.

A grandfather clause for a full auto isn't a ban.

Secondly, tightening restrictions on gun owners isn't the answer to what happened in California. Listening to the rhetoric of your President and some of left leaning members here on the site was a gong show to say the least.

Everyone lined up to attack Boomer when he stated terrorism, but lo and behold, these were not merely disgruntled workers. Nor mentally ill people or white supremacist.

Please show me a credible statistic to back up your claim that the bulk of gun crimes are committed by right-wing white supremacists.

The bulk of gun crimes are committed by governments. This case won't be any different. Civil war has been mentioned numerous times, contingencys have been drawn up and drills run getting the criminals out of office will be a bloody undertaking when the penalties for treason are understood. So the Americans have a choice allow the government overreach or exercise constitutional rights to curb government. This government is not your friend or even your government. Count the alien agents in the White Hole.

Ever since Obama got elected and for that matter recently Trudeau in Canada all I have seen
is ranting nonsense from a small minority on the right that professes to speak for all and are
happily listened to by the media cause its great entertainment
Will so called gun control do the trick? No because we are dealing with mentally unstable
people and the instability starts not with criminals or mental patients no it starts with the
Republican Fringe. There is a difference between the Republican Party and the fringe
movement that is beating the drum. Even Lindsay Graham understands this group is making
a mockery out of the Republican Party/ Rubio, Carter Cruz or Trump will destroy the party for
a long time. The Republicans need a moderate to take control.
All this crap about religion the end times and silly rhetoric about communists and so on are
hurting the party. The reason there is rhetoric is because there is no substance.
Obama is really a left leaning conservative if anything and right of anything we have in Canada
for Gods sake. It is time for the fringe to put away word toys and join the real world.
If the President has to use an executive order so be it something has to be done whether it
works or not. There are more people now demanding action and the NRA is about to get its a**
kicked by the general public. I hope citizens will vote against any current rep that received
money from the NRA

Yep the U.S. is a large country with many millions of people and only so many law enforcement people to spread around.

For one thing how do you pass laws to change people who have no regard for laws, unless it's to lock them up?

Bill would prohibit spouses from buying a gun during a divorce

A Fulton County prosecutor shot and injured by her estranged husband is now taking her fight to Georgia lawmakers.

April Ross is pushing for a law to stop spouses from buying weapons while going through a divorce.

“It's a no-brainer. That's a dangerous time for someone who's trying to get out of a relationship,” she said.

Ross is back at work but still goes to therapy after the shooting that left her paralyzed. Her estranged husband then turned the gun on himself.

“I know he had planned it out, purchased guns and ammunition shortly before he decided to do this,” she said.

“Divorces and separations are volatile times and high emotions. The escalation can go from zero to 100,” Ross said.

Ross says she knows it will be a tough fight ahead in the Republican-controlled Legislature, but she’s up for the fight.

“You can't eliminate every bad scenario but you can certainly reduce the number of opportunities someone has to hurt someone when they're leaving a relationship,” she said.

She says if they won't go for restricting gun purchases during the divorce process, they could pass a law that would alert the spouse if the other spouse purchases a gun.

“A compromise is everything. I think the important thing is, it's not just about he can't get a gun, he doesn't have the right to get a gun. What I’m saying is put in that extra step that may have saved someone else's life,” she said.

Gun rights groups are weighing in. Georgia Carry released a statement to Channel 2’s Lori Geary saying the organization "supports no bill that strips citizens of their constitutional rights without due process, which this bill plainly does. Many times emotions run high during divorce proceedings, but prohibiting any disarmed person from their second amendment right is not the proper method to attack the issue.”

Obama has been the best president...
For the gun industry business...Every time he attacks gun owners, gun sales flourish....
It was pretty funny a while back. Some of the Democrat states were going to try and ban firearms within their states. The American gun manufacturers basically got together and informed those states that if they ban firearm sales, those states can go elsewhere to supply their police services, etc.

I was looking at rifles just the other day in Canadian Tired. I've let the armory slide arround here the last couple of decades. Clips are missing/hidden ammunition is missing/hidden, security was consigned to stash memory, memory/hidden. I suppose I could still club with them.
