As long as we eat them and donate them then they don't go to waste. Nothing different than eating a turkey dinner. I would feel different if they were endangered or something but at this point I don't think I would be opposed to eating a goose dinner for thanksgiving.

HeHe, we should make a mock "save the geese" topic and see how many people sign up.

We have a local park and my kids cannot play in it because of all the goose poop. I'm all for controlling the numbers. The focus being on CONTROL not extermination.

It does not look like your local park is controlling them.

The best method for immediate control is a dog. A local campus had a geese problem on the football field and bought one of those specially trained dogs that chase the geese away. The dog worked a week and has had an easy life since. The guy from the college then said...

"He doesn't do much now because after a couple of weeks the geese stopped coming. If we could only teach it to run up the side of the buildings now to get the pidgeons."

I would imagine they went somewhere else to wreak havoc.

A while ago a man walked into a Tim Hortons in Toronto, carrying a goose under his arm. He told the person behind the counter: "Give me all the money, or the goose gets it!"

so for 2 months it's a solution... how does this help cities where goose populations have become year round? Like the ones being discussed? A couple ropes isn't going to solve NYC's problems.

Ah, so you're just here to break the terms of service to which you agreed when you signed up to the site. Cool.

Border Collies work great for this. They used this in a few golf courses and parks in Ontario and the geese got fed up and left. The dog would continually "herd" the geese and since they can't sleep due to this, they leave. If they don't want to kill the geese, at least this gives them a viable alternative.

As far as them going to another place, it could always be done there. Gradually the birds would end up in a place where they weren't a pest to anyone.;)
