Kyoto was an impending disaster and everyone knows it. Only Modern Druids would cling
to that mess. I am a long way from being a conservative but I also realize that Mr Harper
has a lot of juggling to do, he has to try to keep a center right position in order to get re-elected
and he has a social conservative base that wants to introduce the issues of the loony right.
If the NDP were elected with a majority they would face the same problem from the other end
of the spectrum.
John Baird will be given a chance, who knows it might mellow him out a bit, on the other hand
Harper pulls the strings and if he is to far out there he will be replaced. I think it is incumbent
upon us all to wait and see what the policies are going to be and take it from there. Mr. Harper
might find himself in trouble with Canadians if he goes off course and he might just choose
to operate from the center right. No one knows the direction this government will go and we
are speculating on things that might never happen.
Before the election Liberals were complaining that all the Conservatives could do was call names
and impugn reputations. Now they are announcing cabinet ministers and a lot of non Tories are,
wait for it , calling people names.
I think the Liberals across the country are still in shock to find out that no one loves them including
half their families. I think the conservatives are about to find out also that just because you have a
majority doesn't mean you can do what you want. New Democrats also have to understand the
real position of the official opposition. The liberals are not in the penalty box, they have been
handed a generational misconduct. The way things stand at the moment and if everyone behaves
them self I think you could see an NDP government before you'll see the Liberals return to the
government side of the house. Jon Baird performed the way he did because it went with the position
he held, it does not mean he will do the same in his new post
