With the trade wars happening, things are going to increase in price and cause inflation and the American Federal Reserve is going to raise rates using inflation as the excuse or reason. If Canada wants to attract money in order to finance our debt, we need to increase rates.

In addition; if American tariffs hit the Canadian auto sector and cause huge financial stress, the Bank Of Canada needs room to lower rates to give Canadians the feeling that the BOC is doing something.

Well the Bank of Canada has given us three successive rate increases . So what is it should the bank raise or lower interest rates ?

Not a 60 cent dollar

Maybe not exactly but pretty close

Justin Trudeau says fiscal measures needed to boost economy, loonie now in ‘comfortable’ range

After reaching parity with the U.S. dollar three years ago, the currency declined an unprecedented 25 per cent, touching a 13-year low at the beginning of the year. It has rallied 11 per cent since Jan. 20.
“The Canadian dollar has bounced around a bit,” Trudeau said. “There’s a range in which it is comfortable and we tend to be in that now.”
The loonie rose 0.7 per cent to $1.3011 per U.S. dollar at 10:44 a.m. in Toronto, reaching the strongest level on a closing basis since Oct. 16.

Northern Ontario,
I think the charge of racism has practically lost a lot of its meaning these days simply because of overuse for the wrong reasons..... simply as an insult (for example)
Liberals just love to use it....for any reason....
