With a 4% GDP growth this 1/4 and a forecasted 5% growth into the last 1/4 I highly believe the deficit forecast will be greatly reduced. Plus the tariffs may wipe out this years deficit by itself ;)

The CBO forecasts
that real gross domestic product will expand by 3.3 percent in the 2018 calendar year, before slowing to 2.4 percent in 2019 and 1.8 percent in 2020, based on the fourth quarter year-over-year figure. In June, CBO forecast 2 percent growth this year. The Trump 2019 budget request assumed that tax cuts would propel the economy to 3.1 percent growth this year and remain above 3 percent through 2024.

You're right. I don't think he's that stupid as to intentionally grow the debt. He just grows it to pay to the military the wall etc. etc. etc.

When the UN and NATO nations aren't stepping up to pay and relying on the States to take care of it up to the tune of 90% of costs what would you expect? If the wall will cure family separation which is at a fevered pitch among DACA, undocumented immigrants, SJW's, and progressives it would be a small price to pay for long term peace;)

Trump pushes for NATO countries to double spending on defense

President Trump urged his counterparts to raise their defense spending to 4 percent of a country's gross domestic product, a substantial increase of a goal on which many are already falling short. The call came hours after a blistering critique by Trump against Germany and other allies.

Negotiating tactic?? Up the ante........ leaving room for maneuvering with the hopes of getting at least what was the o original amount?? ( actually PAID as agreed on ) Or just more "hand grenade" style bellicosity??

Why do people keep mocking Trump's derangement syndrome? It's not nice to mock the mentally disabled.

Trump body language speaks to frosty relations at NATO summit

https://www.ctvnews.ca/no-shove-but-trump-body-language-speaks-to-frosty-relations-1.4009216

He seems to consider these associations, organizations mundane and beneath him. The FACT he has rally BAD manners..(social skills)....doesn't help. He has no problem making himself the center of attention in these forums. .......in a negative way. Unseemly.

Can't help but wonder what he will do when he meets the queen. (give her a deal she can't refuse??;-) We will see tomorrow.

He sue did look like the odd man out .....all self created. Just can't play nice with others .

After Trump's blistering attack against allies, he and other NATO leaders approve plans to bolster defenses against Russia

NATO issued a statement that leaders, including President Trump, approved a tough package of measures to improve the alliance's ability to defend against Russia.

Leaders also said they would increase efforts to fight terrorism across the Middle East. And they reiterated their pledge to increase defense spending, Trump's main focus going into the meeting.

The decision suggested that Trump is holding back from slashing support for the alliance despite his anger over what he says is Europe's taking advantage of the U.S. security umbrella. But NATO leaders are still concerned that he will make concessions to Russian President Vladimir Putin when they meet on Monday.

How Woodrow Wilson’s Great Blunder Led to Hitler, Lenin, Stalin and World War II
https://fee.org/articles/wilsons-wa...-led-to-hitler-lenin-stalin-and-world-war-ii/

Sorry - your source is pure speculation. Laying the blame on Wilson for events beyond his control is just historical revisionism. The article is riddled with historical errors and suppositions. One example is that the so-called October Revolution could have been prevented if the US had stayed out of the war. At the time there were too few US troops in Europe to have any influence on events in far off Russia. Another is that Germany took no aggressive action toward the US - I suggest you look up Zimmerman Telegram and the German U-boat campaign in the Atlantic.

I'm talking about China and Southeast Asia. China herself has already made the move to take control of the South China Sea and they, themselves claim it as an historic property of China. They have hardly left any coastal access to Indonesia, Vietnam, The Phillipines. I suppose if you pressed the point, Korea and Japan are also ancient claims of the Chinese, although the Japanese sent them packing on a few occasions.

By the way, a substantial part of what is now Russia was also tributary to a Chinese Empire that goes six thousand years.

Wilson was a peacenik.

In retrospect, what was needed at the end of WWI was a military occupation of Berlin ... which, by the way, is precisely what eventually happened 40 million dead later.

Actually the Japanese sent the Mongols packing. China for the most part has shown little interest in areas of the world outside of its traditional areas.

And as for Wilson - the article Walter sited contains serious historical errors and engages in unfounded speculation. I've tried to explain this to Walter, but I doubt he will understand.

Yes but that will change , as it has most places .

Exactly what changes do you foresee?

Have you seen how closely Chinese border claims are hugging the shoreine around the South China Sea? What's the point of that beyond some sort of neo-imperialism?

I suppose you might be right if the South China Sea is considered part of China's traditional empire. This looks to me like a bunch of nations arguing over who owns what and claiming all of it is a good bargaining point.

White Nationalists don't think the world war was Hitlers fault.

What a shocking revelation.
