How long have we heard that?

At any rate, Trump is simply saying that if Europe's security is not so important to Europe, why should it be to the U.S.?

Clearly Canada believes that Europe's security is not so important. Heck they do not even think their own security is important. Regardless of Canada's enormous contributions in the two world wars and the bravery of Canadian soldiers today, Canada (as a nation) could contribute very little to a flash war breaking out in Europe. Not because Canadians are unwilling, but the past and present governments have left your nation pretty much defenseless.

We're ok, we're nato members and latvia will come to our aid pdq. Our nato ceo to the south may also come to help after he checks our credit rating to see how trudoughs self balancing budget is working out.
Merkle n' nordstream II are a bit of a snag for americas' plan to wrest eu energy dependency from russia by shipping them lng, what the lame stream media doesn't reveal is that trump buys the lng from..... russia.

Trump says NATO allies like Canada are 'delinquent' on military spending. Is he wrong?

The president's pointed language might be off-putting for some Canadian observers — but is he right to call Canada a parsimonious defence partner?
"Yes, I think Trump has a point in that defence expenditure is a burden predominately carried by the U.S. The U.S. carries the load," Colin Robertson, a former top diplomat and the vice-president of the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, said in an interview with CBC News.
"We've got to do more. We can't expect the American public to pay all the costs of this alliance."
NATO is the central pillar of Euro-Atlantic defence and the cornerstone of Canadian defence and security policy — which is why Canada should contribute more, Robertson said.

I guess you can include Canada having a problem with that Pipeline as well

Canada, U.S. concerned over Russian pipeline

The Trudeau government and the Trump administration have found a rare patch of common ground at the NATO summit in Brussels — shared concern about a proposed Russian pipeline that would cross through the Baltic Sea into Germany.
Canada has "significant concerns" with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project, which would bring gas from Russia to the Baltic coast of Germany, Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said Wednesday.
She said she has discussed the issue with Ukraine, which opposes the pipeline because of the leverage it would give Russia over European countries.
At the summit's opening, U.S. President Donald Trump railed against what he characterized as a "massive gas deal" between Germany and Russia, calling it inappropriate. He said the deal makes Germany "captive" to and "totally controlled" by Russia, and he urged NATO leaders to take a closer look at it.
It is unusual for Trump to express concerns about Russian behaviour. His meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Finland next week is generating widespread concern.

I haven't got a link yet but heard on the CBC news this morning that Canada re-signed to the 2% commitment again

Oh he is correct.

Our Air Force is an absolute joke. CF18s that are 6000 hours beyond their life span.

All we really have in decent shape are a handful of Cormorants, Hercules and two Globmasters to fly dead CF18 pilots home.

Our frigates are spent, subs garbage, spent artillery and the Benz G trucks that are overpriced and parts need to be flown in from Germany.

We do have half decent satellites with the latest a Shaw com sat that is shared with military.

Colbert is leading the pack.

The Daily Show did a great piece on the Mayor of Helena in hardcore Republican Montana.

He is a black refugee from Liberia and he is well liked.

That sure smashes the stereotype of nigger hating redneck Montanans.

Trump is killing the dow. That's where US manufacturing is and that's why nobody should be invested there.

Are you high? The DJI variables have no connection to the GDP.

The USD has been gaining substantial strength and GDP is kicking ass at 4%.

Are you happy with our 75 cent dollar?

The East is complaining that the $0.75 is to high and hampering manufacturing they want the dollar worth around $0.60 U.S. to attract buyers to their products.

Nobody wants a 60 cent dollar - except when you have US dollar income, then it is manna.

The long-time rule of thumb had been that a dollar in the high 80s was the best all-around dollar for us to have.

I don't know if that is still considered ideal or not. Our economy has changed.

WOUld actually like to find out what would be considered ideal anymore

Why? because it says at a time we were at par that if the dollar dropped to $0.80 it would help manufacturing, or do I have to find the link where JT complained our dollar wasn't dropping low enough when we were at $0.78 in 2016?

I suppose you might be right if the South China Sea is considered part of China's traditional empire. This looks to me like a bunch of nations arguing over who owns what and claiming all of it is a good bargaining point.

The Chinese have built and fortified artificial islands on reefs, atolls that ring the South China Sea. It looks more like naked Chinese agression, to me.

The article actually mentions the real problem, which is Canadian labor costs being up 14% while US labor costs are down 4%

When we hit $1.15US Canadian banks cleaned up on US forclosed properties for pennies on the dollar.

They bought in so heavily that there are Canadian banks operating branches in the US. Do you know of any US banks operating in Canada?
There is nothing stopping foreign banks from operating in Canada. Tangerine is Dutch and HSBC Chinese.

The only US financial institution I know of is Affinity Credit Union.

Credit Unions and Trusts aren't banks.

No Brains Atoll?

So why is SK manufacturing going gangbusters?
