Sure, if you think it will help.

Are you suggesting that Garner was jumped, for no reason whatsoever and executed at random?

I am suggesting that the force applied was inappropriate and the cop who did it should have a murder charge of some sort (probably 3rd degree/manslaughter) and be fired from the force. This has nothing to do with what offence Garner committed or the colour of his skin. He was unarmed and not resisting. The force was inappropriate.

You were playing the first year philosophy major role. "How do we know what what is?" But there's no longer a need to defend Eric Garner's killer by getting all wishy washy about the hard evidence, we can now talk about cigarette taxes and Michael Bloomberg. What a relief.

When Eric Garner was being strangled to death he said "I can't breathe" and since we all know if you say that then you *can* breathe, he clearly didn't die from an actual inability to breathe. It was a metaphor. What he meant to say was "I can't breathe under all these stifling taxes and hey guys don't you think Bloomberg is a bit of a liberal?"

He is correct though. Law has become so stifling that practically anyone can be arrested at any time.............it is becoming a dystopian society under idiots like Bloomberg.

That said, there was something seriously wrong in this arrest.

Exactly.

Captain probably figures girls that wear short dresses need to shoulder part of the blame for being raped....although, I suspect he doesn't believe rich folks should shoulder any of the blame for being mugged.

You are going over the line again.
Back that accusation up or retract it.

You know you can be a little bolder than that. No one will be asking for your Conservative Party membership card.

Read my posts on this and you will see I have been "a little bolder" on this.

Choke holds were banned by the NYPD 21 years ago.

Restraint training includes instructions to never ignore "I can't breathe".

The cop should be charged. Not with murder, as there was no intent, but with a lesser charge.

All of which I said before.

That assessment is only possible on an after the fact basis. Garner was also resisting which drew in more cops.

Earlier you suggested that Garner assumed his share of responsibility by virtue of his death. That was a consequence of his actions. Garner does bear a portion of responsibility based on his actions.

You are going over the line again.

Pointless to even bother Goobs

We will have to agree to disagree on this one Captain. I find no scenario which justifies the cops reactions and actions.

My comment was entirely tongue-in-cheek. Should have been in purple. My bad.

No doubt, and for the record, I do see where you are coming from and quite frankly, I do not disagree.

There were a number of poor choices made by all parties involved, especially the police, however, my devils-advocate position is that Garner also had a role in this whole ordeal.

My comment was entirely tongue-in-cheek. Should have been in purple. My bad.

Appreciate the clarity on that... When it comes to issues like this one, it's not hard to get caught up in the moment

I love the idiot cops playing Sweet Home Alabama. Hey, know what? Let's take an already tense situation and poke people with a stick! Ya, that should be fun.

I never heard of a person talking when they can't breathe!:)

Oh come now JLM. Don't be so silly. I think most of us understand the difference between being choked and claiming that you cannot breathe and actually not breathing. Do you have to work at being obtuse?
