English for the Mentally Challenged:
If I say "Obviously you have never been in a house where the living room is green" that means you have never been in a house with a green living room.
It most emphatically does NOT mean EVERY house has a green living room.
So, when I said "Obviously you have never been in a Muslim country.....where Jews are persecuted (etc)......"
But, if you had written "Obviously you have never been in a house...where the living room is green", it would mean that all houses have green living rooms, and you have obviously never been in one.
So many hair-splitters on the interweb eh. Sheesh. Armchair lawyers and copywriters, nitpickers and cotton pickers. It's what makes the tubes go 'round I suppose.
It's funny, but when the medium is written English, people tend to interpret what is written based on the rules of written English.
If you mean something other than what you've written, you shouldn't be surprised when people don't follow.
