Was this the same politically correct poll that a few years ago came up with the absurd contention that three of the seven Canadian Wonders were the IGLOO, the CANOE and the PRAIRIE SKIES?

That list is a farse. Why would anyone trust Michael J Fox, Steve Izerman, Ian Millar or Kiefer Sutherland as examples. What have they done to make them trustworthy????

Wasn't Yzerman very trustworthy at getting the puck in the net?

Do they come any better than those? The igloo would compare with the pyramid.....NO?

One could do better than the canoe and one could do better than to claim credit for something natural like prairie skies, but the iglu is a bit of a marvel considering the Innu have been building them for a lot of years and they are very well engineered. Tipis are quite remarkable as well, considering they can withstand high winds, frigid weather, and yet be dismantled and reassembled inside a few hours.

I may be wrong, but I think a pyramid could survive and stand in the Canadian Arctic.

I have my doubts about the survivalibility of an igloo in Egypt.

With all this "global warming" happening you are probably right.:smile:

Make the pyramid out of snow and it wouldn't survive the Arctic. Make the iglu out of rock and it would survive Egypt's weather.

"Is he a conservative appointment or liberal?"

Makes no difference. Anyone accepting a seat on the most parasitic, free-loading, useless institution in the civilized world has sold his/her soul, integrity and credibility.

The ONLY Senate reform this country needs is honest citizens to tell the Prime Minister, when offered a Senate seat: "Thanks, but no thanks!"

I would have put Sheila Fraser at the top of the list. At least as someone most Canadians would know. I have family and friends on the top of my list

Yep, she's as good as anyone, probably about on a par with Mike HOlmes, Susuki could be bumped down a way, still a little ahead of Conrad Black.

Michael J Fox has been front and center in bringing publicity to Parkinson's research over the last decade or two. It may be considered somewhat self serving as he suffers from the disease but he's still doing it. He was also a very vocal advocate in the stem cell research south of the border.

Stevie Y, I can see to an extent: he was a hockey superstar (in a nation that worships our hockey players) and was always a very classy guy in his demeanor on and off the ice. He supposedly did a lot of charity work down in Detroit when he was there and was the GM our last Olympic Hockey team but all in all, I agree its a weak basis for trust but really no more than most on that list.

Ian Millar? Is this the equestrian rider?

Kiefer Sutherland? Does he even acknowledge himself as Canadian? I know his dad does... And in contrast to Michael J. Fox, I haven't heard of him off camera except for punching guys out :p
