I remember that back in the 1970's, "Futurists" were all the rage. We'd have flying cars, jet packs, live to be 200, etc.,etc. The future "Leisure Society" was a big thing, that is, mechanization, robots, labour saving devices would free us all up to live lives of leisure and recreation. What none of them figured out was that no one is going to pay you to be leisurely and produce nothing, so mechanization has freed us up to live our lives in poverty, relying on the State to stay alive. The lucky ones get Service Sector jobs that pay 1/5 of what good manufacturing jobs used to do, without any benefits, and given only enough hours to be deemed as "casual" employees.

It has freed us up to blame foreigners for our woes, to elect fascists to punish the foreigners and to ignore that the system itsself is obsolete and broken.

Yup, Trump supporters are blind in one eye and can't see out of the other.

I think that it's pointless to reason with some people, ES. Those who are so blinded by hatred or distrust that they blame others, like Trump for example, for pretty much everything.

They don't correctly address the subject, they just spit out nonsense. I am glad to see that drug and immigration laws will be enforced. They are both in place for a reason.

Thank God for memes. They replace real answers, admirably.

Perhaps. But the idea of enforcing the law is fine with me.

The drugs and the illegals are problems. There are related problems. dangerous drugs on the streets. Injuries and deaths that result from those drugs, as well as organized crime problems, soaring costs related to chasing the drugs/smugglers and the medical bills.

As I posted earlier, Mexicans enter the US legally every day on business or as tourists. But they present themselves to border people with proper docs and are let in. The ones that smuggle humans, drugs or other contraband are doing so at night, or are hiding in trains, trucks, etc. They are not leaving an oppressed country like N. Korea.

For those that travel to the US legally, either on business, applying for landed immigrant status or just because they want to visit Hollywood, are not the targets and they never have been. Any illegal activities, carried out by their countrymen, can make things more difficult for the ones who are doing things legally.

What I see in threads like this are some people talking stupid, just to hear their own voice.

Those are the one that you don't agree with, I take it? .. the bearers of "alternate facts" eh?

No. Just people who argue without supporting their ideas.

To paraphrase an old Monty Python sketch, people will contradict. It's not an argument. It's just gainsaying. It adds nothing.

If you think that Mexico would declare war on the US, what brings you to that conclusion? Opinions are fine, but if you wish to make a point, some facts are good.

Time will tell. They REALLY HATE the U.S. and they have an old and major grievance against the Americans.

You haven't been around Mexicans much moron.

Well, I have done and I've even walked across that border ..at a proper crossing. They were extatic to find out that I was Canadian. They are likely sick to death of bossy, imperious gringos.

I know that I am.

Well, I've given up on you. I used to think of you as sonewhat thoughtful. You're just another troll enabling, angry hillbilly.

That would be good, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but just remember, that doesn't make it fact! :)

Donald has got a bit in common with Kevin O'Leary.............a brilliant man in his own right, but he's got a lot to learn about politics, I think. In time I'm sure he'll learn it all but are those in the drivers' seat (the electorate and political associates) willing to give him the time? Maybe not. I think if he can make one substantial plank of his platform, stick, the pressure may subside.
