Man stabbed, beheaded on bus in Manitoba

Well I expected that this would set many people the wrong way. Many people when they hear of this, they will relate what could happen to them or a loved one in a similar situation. If you were just on a grayhound or another bus trip late at night, one could connect to the situation even further.
In my case, I remember watching through the entire execution video of that 1st American the Iraqi's killed by carving off his head while alive..... it's not a pretty sight, let alone the sounds of pleaing and begging for them to stop, continually screaming No until he can no longer use his voice box.... watching his body shake and twich while hanging by the spinal cord until they cut that..... it's a very sh*tty way to go, and I couldn't watch the video a second time.... once was enough and I certainly didn't want to see the high quality video of it that was available.
But if you're going to let people like this ruin your day and/or your life, and affect you in such a way that changes you.... then they did what they set out to do by killing their victims.... they set fear into those around them.... and to those people who want to do that to other people, I have a few words I can think of saying to them.
But my humor wasn't an attempt to bait anybody's feelings and to then make fun of their feelings.... everybody is different and everybody deals with situations differently.
I agree Karrie, I find it hard to take humour in a situation like this.....not funny in any way shape or form. This kind of thing seems to happen more and more, which unfortunately will allow the Gov't to take away more liberties and instill more security...it ripples down through to everyone who is a taxpaying citizen. It will/has affect(ed) some alot more than we can imagine, I wish them comfort!
I agree things will get worse, because people are way too stressed! Chhildren who have raised themselves playing violent video games are now adults unprepared and unaware of how to "normally" survive in the real world. Yup I agree with you here Scott, but I don't normally appreciate your input.
Well said Praxius. This was the absolute worst public incident ever in Canada. There have been airplane crashes with scores of people killed while people watched but this was one man horribly killing another man by stabbing, and cutting and hacking his head off. I'm sure the people on that bus will take those images to their grave.
I rather hope this guy is shot dead while attempting to escape.........It would seem to be incredible cruelty to force every one who was on that bus through a trial.
There's absolutely no sense in comparing horrible events like these together but do you remember this?

Actually, I had forgotten that one. That was brutal but you are right....You can't compare these incidents. Each is as horrible to the victims and their families.
This is unbelievably horrific, I feel so bad for the poor kid who got murdered. I cannot believe however that no sooner has this incident happened and you have some opposition MPs calling for a knife registry, I kid you not it was on CTV. That is the Liberal solution to evil, disarm the law abiding citizen and allow the criminals who ignore all of the laws anyways, to stay well armed.
I can't imagine how horrifying it would be to witness something like that. From what I have read, the poor victim was at least asleep so he might not have felt anything before he was murdered.:-(

No Karrie that's 'not' just you, it would be anyone who gives a second thought before making
a joke out of something so horrific, or thinks about the victim and his family, and
connects to his/her own, and can imagine the pain and suffering.
It's really awful, and has changed their lives from this point on.
Especially horrific, when it happened 'not too far' from home, for all of us.
This is not one of those ugly happenings in iraq or saudi arabia, that we hear about often,
and has become common place.

On that one I'd have to cry hypocrit. Lets be fair, lots of jokes have been cracked over the years about lots of death and destruction with narry a word about it (carbombings to genocide)

Since when are Saudi Arabians or Iraqi's less affected by trauma? Why should I have less empathy for them then for someone else I've never met in the prairies? They are not somehow different.
Is it sad and horrible? Yes. But so are many many things that go on every day in this world. And if you don't laugh..you'll go nuts.
Maybe its just me, but I think everything can be laughed at. Only once you can't laugh at something anymore, has it really got you beat.
You'd cry hypocrite when names haven't been released and lord only knows who's involved? How would you like to take part in jokes about some lady being beaten then find out it was your mother? I have a son who could be on that bus (if he didn't detest busses and like to fly) We can laugh at anything - but it's not jokeworthy when it's close to home.
You realize that this guy will plead guilty to manslaughter, get sentenced to 8 years and be out in 3 don't you? He will be back out on the streets before the next summer Olympics.
Here in Canada we don't value life very highly.
