I'm sure the Left is very disappointed this story turned out to be false.

Reminds me a bit when Trump had just gotten elected. mentalfloss was furiously scouring the North American media to try to find examples of hate crimes. When he pretty much came up with zilch, he finally stopped talking about it.

As with two or three others on here, you are better off to pay absolutely no attention to Flossie!

It turns out that the little girl lied. Apparently there was no attack. Likely didn't want to wear the damn thing but who knows. File closed - no charges to be laid.

No doubt, but I don't see how anyone can be faulted for expressing compassion for a little girl the Toronto police said had been attacked.

Of course I am not a right wing nutcase, so what do I know?

Right wingers just don't seem to be able to summon up much compassion for liars. Although in this case I doubt an 11 yr. Old came up with it all on her own. Leftards OTH.......

Family offers ‘sincere apologies’ for 11-year-old girl’s false hijab-cutting story

The full statement:
“We are deeply sorry for the pain and anger that our family has caused in the past several days.
When our young daughter told the school that she was attacked by a stranger, the school reacted with compassion and support — as did the police.
When we arrived at the school on Friday, we were informed what happened and assumed it to be true, just like everyone else. We only went public because we were horrified that there was such a perpetrator who may try to harm someone else.
This has been a very painful experience for our family. We want to thank everyone who has shown us support at this difficult time. Again, we are deeply sorry for this and want to express our sincere apologies to every Canadian.
We look forward to closing this difficult chapter and providing support to our children.”

Northern Ontario,
She probably just didn't want to wear the damn thing, and it's the snowflakes at the school that decided to make a big deal out of it....P C and all that!

Could be, but I think there is something more to it, is it parents or other adults trying to use the tears of a child to push through their agenda is the bigger question to me

asking for a mulligan on this one, I would be interested in hearing why a 11 year old girl was crying WOLF

I'm more interested in why the media decided it would be a good idea to fuel moral outrage and report such a caustic race-baiting story based solely on a canard spun by an 11 year old girl without any verification of fact.

In a time when media integrity is possibly at it's lowest point in history, one would think pursuit of truth would be paramount. Media is not even trying to hide their social/political agenda anymore.

They didn't feel any compassion or outrage when it was thought to be true in the first place. They never will because a lack of compassion and morality is the defining quality of their ideology.

I suppose some are just content in waiting for actual facts to come out, rather than trust a media story reported less than an hour after the supposed "attack".

Some would see this lack of gullibility as immoral or malevolent, some would see it as prudent...since there was no attack committed, it would seem the latter would be the most obvious logical conclusion. Of course, this would not be the case if one is intent on using accusations of subjective moral insensitivity as a political weapon against people they disagree with.

I think I've made it pretty clear that I don't see as a lack of gullibility or prudence. It's immoral and malevolent. If you aren't moved to compassion when a child says she's been assaulted, you aren't a superior intellect. You're a sociopath.

Yeah, I definitely put you into the group who ignorantly use accusations of subjective moral insensitivity to attack people with a different perspective. Thanks for clearing that up, though.

Except that I haven't used any accusations of subjective moral insensitivity to attack people with a different perspective.

Oh, good to hear!! I thought for a minute that you were saying that anyone who wasn't moved by this yarn about a little girl being attacked is an immoral, malevolent, sociopath.

Uhh...wait a minute...

You're confusing what I said with what you think I said. I never used any accusations of subjective moral insensitivity to attack people with a different perspective. Once you stop being impressed with yourself you might figure out which particular part of your attempts to be an intellectual is the mistake.
