Sorry! That was meant to be a green! ...tiny phone screen.
LOL Been there and just done that.
Sorry! That was meant to be a green! ...tiny phone screen.
The ones who really got ****ed were the ww1 and ww2 vets. It was just accepted that there were too many of them to take care of properly and that shitty mindset still pervades the country when we could be taking excellent care of every one of these people.
CAnada has a long tradition of lip service.,
Veterans Affairs used to be run by veterans then, a few decades back, it was taken over by parsimonious bean counters. In the grand scheme of things, the liability that the injured vets represents is peanuts and it is part of our moral contract with those who serve to take care of them when they take a bullet for all of us. Both Liberals and Conservatives have behaved shamefully to our wounded warriors.
The greater Canadian public are just as much to blame for turning their backs on the defence of our land. Someday, that could be our collective undoing.
Tough shit.... Vet gets the shit-kicking no matter by whom ... and the people most upset are the people who took time out of their lives to show gratitude in fundraising. It's a trend.... Hoid that?CRying about losing $23 grand?
This country took billions of dollars out of this guys pension fund with no intention of ever repaying it.
Not true. There were many more benefits for veterans returning from world war two. Failure to recognize PTSD could be faulted, but then the VAC didn't start taking that seriously until the 80's.
We forget but Canada was a poor country after WWI. They did ehat they can for the veterans but the sort of afflience that we have enjoyed sonce the second world war was inheard of a hundred years ago. You can't honedtly apply 2017 standards to what was still an agricultural colony.
Are typing your response on a phone?
I'm not applying 2017 standards. 2017 standards suck worse than 1990 standards. But aside from people not understanding Post traumatic Stress disorder, veterans returning from the second world war had more opportunity and were given preference for government jobs like the post office. Since the Korean war, care for our veterans has fallen significantly. The outgoing Martin government completely ****ed up the pension act and the Harper Conservatives turned a blind eye while waving a false flag of support. Trudeau stood with veterans and said he would fix the pension act, then acquired amnesia after getting elected.
I take it Military personnel are not covered under Workers Comp. If not and his injury would meet the standard Workers Comp has set for a Pension than Yes, he should get it.........I have no doubt that everything you guys are saying is true. But I have a hard time separating the legitimate grievances with the self entitled baby bastardz that exist in every demographic of Canada including vetearns.
I know a guy who injured himself on canadIan base while driving a snowplow and he expects a pension better than an actively employed oil rig worker. Surely you guys must think that is unreasonable, no?
Get what? His ass kissed? An industrial accident masqueraded as a military injury is dishonest by anyone''s standards, agreed?Canadian governments have known what they signed up for when they enlisted these people. Both Conservatives and Liberals have failed that standard.
There's billions of tax dollars floating around out of country. Someone has to get that money here........

I'm not referring just to the t snowplow guy but all military people.Get what? His ass kissed? An industrial accident masqueraded as a military injury is dishonest by anyone''s standards, agreed?
We forget but Canada was a poor country after WWI. They did what they could for the veterans back then but the sort of affluence that we have enjoyed since the second world war was unheard of a hundred years ago. You can't honestly apply 2017 standards to what was still an agricultural colony.
Are all the claims like that? Can you really get yout balls blown off in a warehouse?
The new policy of paying out injuries in a lump sum instead of an ongoing annuity says everything there is to say about Canada and it's commitment to the military.
That is what the indians would call "extinguishing" the claim. A very bad and racist thing to do.
