They could very well be in Toronto, countryboy. That may be one reason what Toronto has a high gun related crime rate, higher compared to rest of Ontario (but lower compared to the West).

More the number of guns available, more of them are going to be used to commit a crime, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. It is also borne out by statistics.

How does one hide a Lee Enfield in his pocket?

No, Preston Manning and his followers split from The PC's, not to ressurect them but to defeat them, Brian Mulroney spews much vitriol explaining this. Manning only had one party, not two, that came later.
.

Really? Then I guess Canada (or rather, Ontario and Québec) had the last laugh on the far right wing of the Conservative Party. Until Harper moved to the centre, toward where the old PC party was, Ontario and Québec didn’t vote for Conservative Party.

And the Conservative Party in power today is not really that much different form Mulroney’s PC Party. They won’t get my vote because I am not sure that this is its true color, and not something they adopted just to get elected.

I would have no problem voting for the PC Party. But we don’t know if this Conservative Party is only pretending to be the PC Party, and all the extremists may come out of the woodwork if they ever get the majority, implement all kind of extremist legislation and try to transform Canada into USA.

Lone wolf...You are wasting you time trying to convince a liberal of the common sense that the registration or the number of long guns has noting to do with crime.....the only thing they do is put their finger in their ears and spout statistics and blame everything on the religious right:lol:

Gee, should I simply point you guys back to the initial posts of the thread Gun Control is Completely Useless.....and educate SJP to the fact that if he is in the west of Canada, and he might wet his panties from fear of the violent crime, all he needs to do is step across the border into the USA, into Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota........where there is practically NO gun control, where carrying a concealed handgun is perfectly alright, where semi-auto rifles with 30 round mags are available with NO license.......and where the murder rate is LOWER than that of our three western provinces east of the Rockies........and dropping.........

Naw....then I'd be accused of "cherry-picking"

No I have not lost anything LW................... but we are talking about the deference between Liberals and Conservatives, IN CANADA not examples of a long distant past in Italy that has little to do with this discussion.

There's a problem right there - the "long distant past" has nothing to do with the discussion? I think WWII had quite a bit to do with it...something called freedom. And people fought and died for it so we can sit on our asses in front of our computers today and expound on many great theories. Lest we forget...

Wow, that sounds like a touch of paranoia. "We don't know..."??? "Extremists may come out of the woodwork..."??? "Try to transform Canada into USA"??? Where do you get this stuff?

Jeez Colpy, if you continue to confuse the issue with a bunch of facts, you're going to spoil someone's day around here. (Not mine though)...

Now please excuse me because I have to get busy and clean the old Winchester 94 - apparently I live in such a dangerous place (west of Toronto) that I had better be ready for anything tonight. I'd better check the ammo while I'm at it.

Since when Conservativisem got borders?

Why was Harper and Bush like a happy couple when they got together?
Why was Harper so happy in plagurising Howard's speach? because he loved Bush and his Ripublican ( Conservative) crap.

Sarah Palin on Religion, Science, Secularism, Church/State Separation - Does Sarah Palin Support Secular Government and Science?
2. Sarah Palin & Holy War, Religious Crusades

In a speech to high school kids at her church, Sarah Palin said: "Pray...that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [our military men and women] out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we are praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan." Do we need leaders who believe they are following God's plan when invading other nations, especially Muslim nations? Some say that Palin was merely expressing hope that politicians are following God's will, but shouldn't they follow the will of the people? Either way, Sarah Palin is a politician expressing more interest in obeying what she thinks her god wants than in serving the interests and will of the people she represents.

Enjoy.........

Countryboy - I'm not sure if it's a matter of the crime rate being higher out here, so much as the fact that perhaps we have less tolerance for obnoxious jerks.

By the way LW by no means will I ever down play the blood your Grand Father offered to peace and freedom. Sorry if I came across that way. I have immense respect for the fallen Soldiers, and I will take that respect with me to my grave.

Not the religious right in this case, but the gun lobby certianly has a lot to answer for when it comes to high crime rate in USA (and also high crime rate in the west).

From the extremists in the Conservative Party, countryboy. Harper has managed to shut them up so far. But extremists like Cheryl Gallant, Stockwell Day, Jason Keeny, Randy White, they have shown their true colours many times in the past.

If Conservatives get a majority, there is no guarantee that they won't come out of the woodwork and won't try to implement the Alliance agenda, which Canadians found so scary. They will of course continue with their borrow and spend economics, that is a given.

No chance of that!

I was one of the first SJP put on ignore....he REALLY doesn't like to be corrected.

Oh, the old 94 in .30-30 is a GREAT self defense gun. :)
