Just a thought: Do we have too much freedom? is there such a thing?

well ya, but there are some people out there that are very allergic to smoke from cigarettes and they cannot be in a room that smells of smoke. or around people that smell of smoke.

True, but the severity and quantity of allergic people still doesn't necessitate the move to a ban. I'm allergic to all nuts, and even I get a bit queasy when talking to someone who just ate some peanuts or almonds. I wouldn't have them ban the legume just because of my allergy. It's up to me to find a way to keep a safe distance.

Now I'm not sure on the radius of standing from a smoker, but an easy solution is to crack the window open a bit. Make sure the smoker smokes outside and stays out for a few minutes before coming back in. Hang up your jacket in the closet or in another room that is well ventilated. There are so many solutions to a problem that doesn't need government intervention.

Aside from being a secnod hand risk to loved ones (which one could argue as well since alcohol tends to be largely involved in domestic disputes), alcohol does everything you just listed there too.... it's a carcinogen, and can shorten your life, damage your organs, etc.

it's how you smell, your house smells, your furniture smells, your clothes.. it all smells like smoke and it can be a turn off.

this is 2010 where we're trying to give everyone living an equal chance to live their lives to the fullest.


the reason that people are so against smoking and there's a lot of negativity on it is because it is a choice that people take even though they realize it's harmful to their health. they use the excuse "live life to the fullest".. but yet when you really look at it, isn't smoking leading to you not being able to do that exact phrase?

yay living life to the fullest, sitting in your living room with an oxygen tank because your lungs are dying and you have emphysema (not sure how it's spelled) and you can barely breathe! that's so rockin!

Let's not be too much of a drama queen. What you describe is perhaps the outcome of one or two percent of people who smoke. The main thing about smoking is the quantity- that may be the outcome for those who have smoked 50 cigarettes a day for 50 years. No amount of smoking is good, but the person who enjoys 3 or 4 cigarettes a day will likely live to an advanced age. Anyway preaching does no good at all. You come across as someone who hasn't even reached the age of legally being allowed to smoke.

Until we can go without electricity, indoor plumbing, telephone, TV, and all the amenities of so-called progress, we are not FREE.
Until we can plough our own fields and grow our own food we are dependent upon those who do provide and sell us our food, and water, and smokes, and alcohol, and clothing.

Can we make our own clothing on an old treadle machine? Wash our clothing with a non-gas/electric washing machine. Do we own a clothesline for hanging things to dry?...with what?.... not pegs we bought in a store!

Oh the technology! then the Illuminati will bring it all down to like it was when I a poor child living on a barren farm with no niceties....well there was the wood stove, the coal-oil lamps, and the hard labour.....

The Illuminati, however, have certainly made a separate world with their own air supply, electricity, running water, and every gadget thinkable, in an underground city or 2 or 3 in countries we wouldn't even expect.

A loud truck might even end up being a pleasure when doomdsday arrives.

I just returned from a 3 month back packin' bike tour ...First week was hell but after I got into a good rountine , the Wild freedom was great! ..Loved it...Glad to be back though...There is a lot of good to be said about all the comforts and amenities of Cilvized freedom ...Ah ,Home sweet Hole..

Freedom is a matter of choice and leisure...Each to his/her own ..With courtesy and respect to others who may be affected or have different views of Freedom...(Majority rules where tollerance doesn't)
