Indeed Col..... I'm all for reasonable gun control.... such as training, licensing and background checks..... and I'm all for options that really do prevent gun related violence and crimes..... but I'm also someone who has been trained in, has experience with firearms and know they have purposes and uses for different people........ The Registry simply does nothing.
All the Registry is, is a simple tool for the government to appease the public and to say "Look, here's what we're doing and the head honchos in the the police force say is saves lives." ~ And people believe them, simply because they say so or because they can pull out some statistic showing a drop in gun related violence..... which has no real connections proving that the registry is responsible.
It's like some in the public crying about smokers and something needing to be done.... so the government introduces idiotic laws like warnings on packages, increase taxes on a pack of smokes.... banning where you can smoke in public.... banning flavored smokes because they claim they're geared towards children.
Yet when they banned the flavored cigarillos, all companies did was change the packaging, what they're called, their size and removed filters and guess what?
They're still being sold.
And I just heard on the news a day or so ago, that more people are smoking this year then the last.
And when people complained to the government about people eating too much junk food and becoming overweight..... they put in a law to ban Super Size, Biggie Size and Up Sized drinks and side orders.
What happened?
Places like Wendys scrapped their small size, made their medium size the new small, made large the medium and made the Biggie Size the large, but also doubled the size of the drink cup....... the Large is now bigger then the Super Size ever was, they no longer have a Small Size since the medium is now the "Small" and those stupid laws the government created still didn't change or do anything.
Yet there are people out there thinking these things are making a difference.
They not, they're a waste of time, money and resources..... and so is the registry.
