Is it up to us to believe in God?

Does make good bone meal though, feeds the earth, helps things grow.
Amazingly enough stone dust also helps the soil, perhaps that is why land at the base of a volcano is so fertile. It is still recomended that you move away when the mountain is rumbling. Not everyone living there would see that as being good advice.

As for myself, having the opinion of "whatever floats your boat" i think that if a person has a "belief" and it serves them well in their life, then in my opinion, how can that be a bad thing? I don't see it being up to anyone to try and sway them from their ideals, if they have been in the past, who gave them that right to do so? I am not of any religious faith but i would never knock them down for it or try to cram it down their throats......"to each their own" seems to be the best possible scenario...

thats right, watched a documentary about mount st helens the other day, starting to look very nice
now, lots of green growth, animals and birds, yes the volcanic debris does feed the earth eventually.

I totally agree, as an atheist I don't want religious retoric crammed down my throat, but those who
feel good from believing in 'whatever', gives them happiness and contentment, then go for it, but
don't give me the fairy tale stories, and tell me that I will go to hell if I don't believe, that
is crap, there is no hell, and there is no god, and I have my own happiness, I do it my way.

Um... bit of editing going on here, it changed from "serves a higher purpose" to simply "has purpose" after I posted. But the question still stands: what is the purpose? I think the purpose is ours to make, so it's whatever we want it to be, and it's to be found in what we can do to, with, for, and sometimes in spite of, those we love. And "those we love" ideally ought to include everybody, in the Biblical "love thy neighbour" sense, that we should respect and care for our fellows. The Bible does get some crucial things right. .

The purpose of the body is to temper the soul in the crucible of meat and bone (carnal temptation) ,that is a hellish thing for a soul, the purpose of the soul is to graduate to the next plane of awareness somewhere else in the conscious theater that may or may not require an organic frame. I guess.

I always pictured Behe to be a tad taller, or is this the time he was anointed as a living soul? They grow so fast it. Hardly seems like a it was just a few days ago they are wandering far from home.

Job.40:15
Behold now behemoth,
which I made with thee;
he eateth grass as an ox.
Job.40:16
Lo now,
his strength is in his loins,
and his force is in the navel of his belly.
Job.40:17
He moveth his tail like a cedar:
the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
Job.40:18
His bones are as strong pieces of brass;
his bones are like bars of iron.

Behe looks likes he may have found a patch of over-ripe berries.

From some of my recent wanderings through various sites and beliefs written for the Internet, I arrived at this simplified conclusion.
God is Alive and Well He stands for Love and has given us free choice.
Satan is Alive and Trying to take over. He stands for Evil and control.
Working also in this world around us are Angels and Demons. I sometimes feel I have an Angel watching over me, but sometimes a Demon will overtake me (the Demon of smoking which had me in its clutches for 54 years.)
Who but a Loving God could have made this beautiful Earth, with 4 Seasons and a time for everything?
Who but an Evil Satan would try to exact revenge on God, who cast him out of Heaven? Satan has rounded up his followers and they are trying to take over God’s Earth. God will not allow that for all the good people who are here. Who but Satan would have his followers concoct a story about evolution and have Darwin present it as the truth, just so that we do not believe there is God?
=====
However, I cannot understand a loving God to allow the shenanigans of Satan’s people, who are destroying people and the Earth, with wars, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, financial control, greed, perversion, without thought or care for their actions, the people they kill.
I can only say that we are perhaps being tried and tested for Judgment Day!
=====
I personally believe that we need to believe in a Higher Power and an Afterlife to make the trials on Earth worthwhile.

1. I personally maintain we have to believe in Santa Claus to make Christmas worthwhile for children.
2, If the Big G has alway been around then he must have waited forever before informing us - almost `till hell froze over!
3. If we are reunited with our spouses in the `Happy Hunting Grounds`, then for husbands who had a couple of wives predecease them, bigamy must be acceptable there.
4. Where do cats go when they die... I`ve looked at their feet and they have soles.

God's like water, inside and out. God works both sides of the human coin, the bad stuff instructs and enlightens as much as the good. None of us have any alternative but to endure good and evil to the fullest while we are accumulating wisdom of age and experience. Like they say, you can only win or lose by how you play the game. God animates matter into butterflies and maggots with equal attention to force. God is the primal animating universal force. Santa Claus hates children.

Something like being responsible for what happens on both sides of all senses and emotions?
Which version do you think would best describe God's crown, a plain gold band or something overly elaborate?

I've often wondered about #3...........you are supposed to be united with all your loved ones, but I haven't quite figured out how it can be assured that the rest of the group is with all their loved ones. Maybe next time you are in church Spade you can put that question to the parson. :lol:

and why is becoming a cow going backwards?
Because there are only two animals that I know of that are above humans on the evolutionary ladder: cats and dolphins. Cats never got over being worshiped as gods in Egypt and dolphins, well all they do is eat, play and have sex all day. You tell me who is smarter. Cows exist to be slaughtered (except in India where they are not slaughtered for fear someone might kill someone's grandmother's reincarnation). They must have bad karma.

Actually, humans can only be humans, cows cows and cats cats. Dolphins can become gods though. After thousands of incarnations, humans, through discipline and wisdom, can become dolphins. That is my goal.
