So they halt this. From the link.
Iran nuclear program deal reached with world powers during diplomatic talks in Geneva - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Key points

Iran has agreed not to enrich its plutonium above a level of 5 per cent.
Also agreed to halt construction of the Arak research reactor - thought to be capable of producing nuclear weapons. -Point- That is a key point as an operational plant can produce plutonium.

In exchange, an embargo on trade with Iran in precious metals will be lifted.
US says the sixth-month agreement is only temporary and Iran must do "much more".
Israel has denounced the agreement as a "bad deal".

Iranian dissidents say Iran has built secret new nuclear site | Reuters
Iran said ready to dismantle underground nuclear facility | The Times of Israel
Another key point would be dismantling Fordo.

Along with as Regan once stated- Trust but verify- That would entail somewhat intrusive inspections.

I assume the $7B that was mentioned is just Iranian funds that were frozen as part of the sanctions?

I haven't seen anything that would expand on what Putin is saying about it being the 1st of many steps. Kerry is said the US is going to get involved in helping calm things down in Libya.

That should apply to every important thing that happened in the last 100 years, starting with the US FED and that isn't because we don't have any dirty laundry.

As for the US going back into Libya to do some 'police work' that should also be verified as to what they say and what they actually do, as the saying goes, they have a history in the area and the last visit didn't work out well for the locals.

I'm also pretty certain that if the IAEA spent as many hours worrying about Japan as they have over Iran (whose plants are still in one piece) the data we have would be more reflective of actual conditions, again in an attempt to make things as comfortable for the locals as possible.

Myself I am interested and hope that a deal is made.
But many recall the bad deal made with N Korea.
Then we have the Saudi`s - And if they want Nukes they will get them.

It's two steps in the right direction and Syria will find a solution as part of a broader picture for the area. That part may turn out to be even more important as a lot of damage was caused in a 'war' and since WWI that means the losers pay for both sides costs, that would seem to put Syria up for a lot of reconstruction money being coughed up by the Arab states that openly said they were funding the rebels. Be nice to see the pieces fall into place as fast as they did for the chem weapons to be removed from the land.

Iran could do a lot of investing now she has excess power for domestic and export. That would include a lot or tourism sites that could even be catered to the western lifestyle if the new ski resorts had international jets land at the Chalet keeping the interaction low and access in time from arrival until skiing is minimal. (for example)

"relative moderate"????

Rouhani might be the relative of a moderate, but if so the poor guy is probably hanging from his toes in some dungeon.

Six Questions About Iranian President Hassan Rouhani | Irwin Cotler

My suspicion is that the idiot west has been duped again.

Geneva, Don't Forget Iran's History of Negotiating in Bad Faith | Irwin Cotler

Why are you citing the Zionist lobby in Canada as a reliable source of anything other than the evil bull sh it they can only be depended to produce. Israel is no judge of moderation, has no history of moderation, does not know the meaning of the word moderation and does not ever intend to study or practice the virtue. Israel and its friends are presently the lowest form of human expression ever to be tolerated bar none. While we mouth platitudes of peace and tolerance and lean on laurals long gone to dust what we actually do is support and tolerate the worlds most evil band of land thieves and lying cutthroats. That's what it means to be Canadian today. We may as well join Israel in the flesh as in principal while they exterminate their Palestinian problem. We are what we tolerate. The idiot west has been duped again and again by the organized crime against humanity Israel.

Each new nuclear weapons state summons forth an ineffable sense of fear among one or more other states who embark on their own nuclear weapons programs. And on and on and on without end.

Here is Iran's version of the deal. (in that I did post some points that the US published.

(in part)
Elements of a first step The first step would be time-bound, with a duration of 6 months, and renewable by mutual consent, during which all parties will work to maintain a constructive atmosphere for negotiations in good faith. Iran would undertake the following voluntary measures:
• From the existing uranium enriched to 20%, retain half as working stock of 20% oxide for fabrication of fuel for the TRR. Dilute the remaining 20% UF6 to no more than 5%. No reconversion line.
• Iran announces that it will not enrich uranium over 5% for the duration of the 6 months.
• Iran announces that it will not make any further advances of its activities at the Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant1, Fordow2, or the Arak reactor3, designated by the IAEA as IR-40.
• Beginning when the line for conversion of UF6 enriched up to 5% to UO2 is ready, Iran has decided to convert to oxide UF6 newly enriched up to 5% during the 6 month period, as provided in the operational schedule of the conversion plant declared to the IAEA.
• No new locations for the enrichment.
• Iran will continue its safeguarded R&D practices, including its current enrichment R&D practices, which are not designed for accumulation of the enriched uranium.
• No reprocessing or construction of a facility capable of reprocessing.
• Enhanced monitoring:
o Provision of specified information to the IAEA, including information on Iran's plans for nuclear facilities, a description of each building on each nuclear site, a description of the scale of operations for each location engaged in specified nuclear activities, information on uranium mines and mills, and information on source material. This information would be provided within three months of the adoption of these measures.
o Submission of an updated DIQ for the reactor at Arak, designated by the IAEA as the IR-40, to the IAEA.
o Steps to agree with the IAEA on conclusion of the Safeguards Approach for the reactor at Arak, designated by the IAEA as the IR-40.
o Daily IAEA inspector access when inspectors are not present for the purpose of Design Information Verification, Interim Inventory Verification, Physical Inventory Verification, and unannounced inspections, for the purpose of access to offline surveillance records, at Fordow and Natanz.
o IAEA inspector managed access to:
centrifuge assembly workshops4;
centrifuge rotor production workshops and storage facilities; and, uranium mines and mills.
