It's simple subtraction. I didn't reverse any meaning. It's how you wrote it, we have ninety percent of the population that is "normal"

There's a difference between saying ninety percent of the population is normal, and ninety percent of the population that is normal.

It's not doublespeak, but you could call me anal.
That is not Anal - That is akin to SJP and his posts.

Hahaha. Yeah, there are so many historical documents out there about some dude being born of a virgin, turning water into wine and reviving the dead, coming back from his own death, etc. etc. He may or may not have existed in reality. It sure as hell doesn't make him the son of God. I think he could have existed. The stories are all just stories though. They aren't even original. They are stolen from astrology.

As for my post, it accomplished what it needed to. You are so defensive about Christianity that all you and the other fundies do is is claim Christianity is real. What I'm trying to say is, elevate the discussion to the philosophies of religion, where people can all voice opinions that can lead us somewhere productive, rather than continue the stupidity that you chose to continue.
No I was not continuing it - I was clearly showing you an example - so you are not being truthful with this so called little experiment of yours.
As to my being a so called fundy - yet again you are mistaken. Everyone that is on this forum knows quite well i am not a hard and fast fundamentalist.

So again you are grossly in error.
It also demonstrated that you have firmly held views on religion and make staements that fact is fiction yet recent archeology discoveries show your beliefs to be inaccurate.

So before you jump into the pool from the diving board, make sure their is water in the pool. i do worry about your type as they are so common as to gag a maggot. Jumping into a thread and using the same old rebuttals.

PS : People here are more original than that in their posts, replies and questions.

A whole new world for you to explore. Try not to get lost.

He was the message and the messenger. Not difficult to understand once you set aside rude questions, ignorant and offensive replies. Baiting and trolling as well.

If you have a problem with religion take it and set up another thread. Pretty simple ain't it.

This is sort of typical of religious dogma over riding even common sense and courtesy. Rude offensive ignorant baiting and trolling aside, it appears, as it always has, any critical thinking is not at all welcomed by some followers thick with belief and nothing else. I don't think I need to start a thread as this one has all that is needed to understand this. Simple for the simple minded I expect.

And where does anyone think that 90% of the pop is normal - Any clinical reports on that one?

I think 100% of the population is normal. Human behaviour is distributed normally. There are extremes in all populations, that's normal. You can remove large portions at either end of the bell curve, and you'll still end up with in-filling on those ends of the bell curve as the population adapts.Trying to define someone as normal for their beliefs or abnormal is not at all an objective view. Christians were thought of as a fringe cult once upon a time too.

Exactly! The Romans were puritanical and thought the Christians were licentious! Reference on request...

Now you have 2500 sects of Christianity and they all think they are the only ones with a handle on the truth and all others are doomed. That about sounds normal. The lunatic fringe could be eliminated if they all just read the red passages that are what JC said and not all the BS stuff that Paul said. Jesus did say to worship only the father and not him but most chose to ignore that and run with the Sun of God stuff instead.

That's quite the blanket statement. I find it amazing that somebody that shows such a limited understanding of religion would actually know what all Christians think.

I find it quite humorous that the anti religion folks come here and hijack a thread in the Christian discussion forum. For the most part, it is the same ones that whine when the religious folks hijacks threads in the regular forums.

if the religious christian types didn't want the feedback and debate about what they preach, they
wouldn't post here, it is a free forum for opinion, doesn't matter what discussion one enters.

I repeat what I said some time ago, that the religious purposely post here to start up debate, just
as many others do about many other subjects, religion isn't anything different.

what do you think it should be, a love-in for the religious to stroke each other and pray?

I know one thing that sure pisses me off about religion, that is anyone who tries to complicate it. Because there is NOBODY in the world who knows more about it than I do- even though they think they do.
Except me, of course... :) I like your attitude though. Actually what pisses me off the most is people who claim to know what God wants of us, while at the same time claiming that God is beyond our understanding. I won't give anyone both sides of that one, strikes me as utterly incoherent. In fact I'd go farther: anyone who claims to know the will of God is at least one of a liar, a fool, and a fraud. Because, you see, I am quite convinced that the being whose will they claim to know doesn't actually exist, they're just making it up to suit some agenda of their own. Even when we have clear and unequivocal indications of what ought to be taken as the will of God in what are claimed to be divinely inspired religious texts, like the 600+ rules for correct behaviour given in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, even the most devout among us ignore most of it most of the time.

For forty years I studied comparative religions and philosophies. I have talked to hundreds of people for hundreds of hours from a wide variety of faiths and religions. I have attended many churches, prayer meetings and ceremonies as well. So your blanket statement that I know little is not much more than a reflection of your own knowledge of the subject.

Oh, and I was referring to the 2500 sects not the individuals. There are a few I met that actually understood the teachings and incorporated them into their lives.

Not only is it clear you know very little about religion, you also don't know what a blanket statement is

You are still wrong on either count

If you are so clever about religion, Cannuck, just lay out for all us unwashed all the correct answers and then we can quit having all these boring discussions about religion

Who said I have all the answers? That's what separates guys like me from guys like you and Cliffy. I don't claim to "know" the answers....and I certainly don't know what all 2500 Christian denominations think. The only thing I'm pretty sure of is that you guys know less than 10% of what you think you know. Take Cliffy and his 2500 sects...there is over 30,000 Christian denominations. If he can't even get close on that one, I wouldn't put much stock in the rest of his clap trap.

I find it rather presumptuous to know what someone else knows or doesn't know.

No I have no issue with critical thinking I have no issue with those that have or have no religious beliefs. I do have an issue with trolling though.

I also believe in Free Will - Some religious sects do not- Christian and Islamic sects for example.

That about sums up my reply. If i had offended you i will apologize for that.

Nah, what sums up your reply is that like most fundies you're as hypocritical as they come. If you have an "issue" with trolling, exactly what the hell are you doing on the Internet?

Not all people troll now do they. Are you stating that I should have to agree with all the BS that can go on in a thread that i am required to accept it.

Would that in itself also be hypocritical?

–noun 1. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

Now as to being a Fundie you are grossly in error. But that's OK. I bring it to your attention and you can do with it as you please.
