So as you see, according to Peter Pan, disbelievers kill fairies.

One of great things about being an atheist is that if someone tries to force convert you, you don't have to worry about your god getting angry for betraying him. You can be like "yeah sure, Admiral Akbar and Skywalker is his prophet" and then when they let you go be like "psyche!" and run off over laughing. Good times.
I've considered converting to Islam just so I could visit some of those Muslim monuments that are off-limits to non-Muslims. But since I'm a woman I probably couldn't get the full tour. Maybe I don't need much conversion just throw on a niqab. Studies have shown that atheists and agnostics often no more about religion than believers. I'm sure I could pass the tests.

yes, just discuss this subject with dexter sinister, they cannot stump him with their rhetoric, he is an
atheist, has put years of thought into that decision, has read and studied everything he could find, and
has become very knowledgeable and interesting and realistic when approaching the subject of religion.
Is there a theist on this forum that can say the same thing? I doubt it.
Not to say that there aren't theists who've studied religion intensely or that they're even rare, I've met them, but on this forum I have yet to encounter a theist who isn't either an asshole or an intellectual coward. Sometimes they're both. OK.. frequently they're both.

I'm no theist but I can find spirituality in religion, I can find it in the natural world and I can find it in my mind when I'm stuck indoors on a dark, moonless cold winter's night.
I have full respect for atheists, but they are not necessarily right.................because you haven't seen or felt something doesn't mean it isn't there. I find people like the reformed alcoholic, who saw the light and was able to overcome his problem much more credible.
This God must be weak to have not impressed so many frail humans. I think their is some historical discussion about the need to apply the sword and the hammer to reinforce the respect of that god in times past. What does someone mean when they say they don;t believe in god?
It's often hard to tell, but I can tell you what *I* mean when I say it: the arguments and evidence offered in support of the proposition "there is a god" are insufficient to establish its truth, so I reject it.
The only problem with that is that it is not something that anybody can prove to another. It is a personal experience that has nothing to do with what others believe or experience. It is a very subjective thing, not objective. That is why science can never prove or disprove. Of course, some people will believe anything and some will believe nothing without proof.
In the end, if god exists I doubt very much it cares what you believe or don't.
If five people see and feel something and five people don't, which ones do you tend to believe? :smile:
