The whole Canucks team is a waste of space they were a number one team
in a sweat hog division. The Nucks stand to miss the playoffs and Tort should
be fired out the door. Vancouver needs new ownership and a real direction.
They need some people who can play, not just the skating and passing stuff
the real Canadian Hockey. Mind you Montreal needs some people who can
fight as well.
Vancouver lacks balance and until they get it they won't go anywhere.

Torts is an idiot, and Roberto was not the goaltender people thought he was.
When the pressure came Roberto couldn't to the job. Back up goaltenders
were better than he was.
Of course being a Habs fan I delighted in their dysfunction. Years ago I was a
member of the CCF Counter Canuck Fans. You brought you snacks and booze
and cheered for anyone except the Canucks..

sounds like a few empty minded people who needed to get a life.

Obviously some people in the organization are getting a little "trigger happy", twelve games or so back they were in the midst of an 8 game winning streak and then Hank got hurt along with a couple of others and now they want to dismantle the team. They're nuts!

no one wants to dismantle the team, but the team needs retooling, that is not as much as rebuilding,
it is the wise thing to do before the team gets to the rebuilding state.

if gillis can retool and move forward he might save his job, otherwise he is toast, too many mistakes
along the way.

Don't know why they'd want to unload Kesler, at work we used to try to keep our best men! -:)

Nobody remembers Presidents Trophy winners. Some teams are built for regular season success and some are built for the playoffs.

Perhaps if you were to offer Talloola a handsome sum of money she would impart some hockey knowledge to you, so you wouldn't have to keep talking through your hat when it comes to hockey. -:) -:) -:) -:)

Not only have I forgotten more about hockey than Talloola knows, I've also played at a higher level than she has. I also don't simply regurgitate what I've heard on TSN and talk radio. Perhaps the reason you clearly know so little about hockey is that you've been listening to her and not me....I mean, I told you Lu wasn't in the 'Nucks plans. Your ignorance of all things hockey allowed you to be dismissive and now it looks rather foolish on you....
but please do continue.

just ignore him, he offers nothing constructive for anyone to benefit by, better to move forward.,
its boring and uninteresting to just read sarcasm, and remarks that are of no benefit to anyone.
but if he knows he is irritating you, he'll keep on, but maybe its just a 'man' thing i guess.

guess no one wanted to give too much today for kesler, doesn't matter, now they can put it forward again
at the draft. if they don't do a trade at the draft, then they can trade him in the off season.
that is the advantage of trading a player while they are still under contract for a while, as they
can't just leave at the end of the season, like an unrestricted free agent, so there will always be
something in return for that player.

when a team is retooling, trading a top player is smart. they will get a big return for him, more than
they would have today, and the team will be supplied with good young players to move forward, that is
why a team trades one of their top players.

i enjoyed the tv coverage of the trade deadline, watched almost all of it. lots of moves made, some
small and some big.

kesler has had a number of injuries in the past, he is 100% healthy right now, is at the top of his game,
so why wait any longer, the team isn't going anywhere this season, so now is the right time.

he could be injured again next season, out of the lineup again, and each year that happens, he is one year
older, he is 29 now, perfect age, still in his prime, very attractive player to other teams, he will go
sometime in the near future, and canucks will receive good young players back, that is what they need.

Where does Roberto Luongo trade leave Canucks? | Hockey | CBC Sports

Luongo traded for two UNDER achievers. How hare brained can it get? -:)
Rollie Melanson will mold Markstrom into a very good goalie. We forget that Schneider was not living up to expectations for a number of years. He was drafted by Vancouver in 2004 and didn't amount to much until 2012. Melanson coached him into being a worldclass goaltender when it looked like he was going to be, and nearly was, a minor league lifer.

we were just talking about that today, and we said almost exactly what you said. i see that he allready has been
working with him, showed that on the website today when i looked at the video on markstrom. he had lots
of upside when he was drafted, something didn't go right, whether he was overwhelmed by the nhl or not,
don't know, but i think the same as you, melanson will help him immensely.

canucks also have a good young goalie in the ahl, swedish or finnish, not sure, i'll check.

joacim eriksson - sweden, born 1990
joe cannata - u.s.a., born l990

So true, lots of upside. When he played in the gold medal game in world juniors he almost singlehandley beat Canada.

goalies, Canucks face StarsWednesday, 03.05.2014 / 7:02 PMEric Goodman - NHL.com Staff Writer

CANUCKS (28-26-10) at STARS (29-23-10)

TV: SNET-P, FS-SW

Last 10: Vancouver 1-8-1; Dallas 5-3-2

Season series: The Dallas Stars defeated the Vancouver Canucks in the previous two games this season. Dallas seeks to extend its winning streak against Vancouver to four.

Big story: The Canucks and Stars made separate trades with the Florida Panthers involving goaltenders prior to the NHL Trade Deadline. Tuesday, Vancouver traded four-time All-Star and Jennings Trophy-winning goaltender Roberto Luongo and left-wing prospect Steven Anthony for goaltender Jacob Markstrom and forward Shawn Matthias. Wednesday, Dallas acquired goaltender Tim Thomas, a two-time Vezina Trophy recipient and winner of the 2011 Conn Smythe Trophy and Stanley Cup as a member of the Boston Bruins, for backup goalie Dan Ellis.

Team Scope:

Canucks: Vancouver has been rapidly losing ground in the Western Conference with losses in 10 of its past 11 games (1-9-1), so making a major move at the deadline was not a surprise. Goalie Eddie Lack had a 1.25 goals-against average starting the past four games for the Canucks and appeared to pose a serious challenge to Luongo for the permanent No. 1 position.

"We had to get cap compliant in a changing marketplace," Canucks president and general manager Mike Gillis said Tuesday regarding the Luongo trade. "We feel really confident in Eddie Lack, and Jacob is another really good, young goaltender with good size that fits with how we have to play, so I'm comfortable with it."

Stars: Goaltender Kari Lehtonen has shouldered a bulk of the load for the Stars this season, ranking second in the NHL as of Wednesday with 50 games started. Adding a player with the experience of Thomas should help give Lehtonen needed rest down the stretch as Dallas tries to protect its current hold on the final Stanley Cup Playoff berth in the West.

"We've liked how [Thomas has] played. He's played very well. He's experienced," Nill said. "I think it is going to be good for Kari Lehtonen to see a guy, how he prepares, how he handles pressure. Kari is kind of growing into this role. It's Kari's team still, but when we have back-to-back games or four games in six nights, he knows there is somebody that can go into the net and the team is going to continue to win. That's very important."

Who's hot: Matthias joins the Canucks with five points (three goals) in the past two games. ... Stars captain Jamie Benn has a goal and five assists in the past five games.

Injury report: Canucks forward Daniel Sedin (leg) is out indefinitely with no timetable for a return. Defenseman Yannick Weber (upper body) is day-to-day. Forward Mike Santorelli (right shoulder surgery) and defenseman Andrew Alberts (concussion) are on injured reserve. ... Stars center Rich Peverley (upper body) was injured Monday against the Buffalo Sabres and missed the game Tuesday at Columbus. A return by Peverley to the lineup Thursday has not yet been confirmed, but Peverley's replacement, forward Chris Mueller, was assigned to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

interesting note: lack and markstrom Are both swedes, and were teamates in sweden at one time.
they know each other very well. they said markstrom is similar to lack, is a happy guy, smiles a
lot, and the two of them get along well.

matthias will play tonight, he won't be hard to find, as he is 6'4", a centerman. he hasn't lit up
the league in the past, but has played very well recently.

I missed the Thomas trade-that does make things easier for Luongo and I'm Happy for him in that regard-Thomas is a notorious nutcase nazi asswipe that no one should have to share a dressing room with.

thats very true, but i think luongo would have enjoyed the experience, as he is so much more intelligent,
and wittier, he even made a comment like, timmy and i will look after the nets, will be good, or something
to that effect.
luongo is so diciplined and professional, thomas isn't, he goes his own way, on a different path, might
have been amusing for lui.
