For all the flak Raycroft took in Toronto, I don't think he was the problem as much as the team in front of him: the Leafs just chose to follow the Detroit example of several years ago and blame the goalies for poor team defense. I think it played hell with the mindset and confidence of a quality goaltender and I think he can rebuild his career in Vancouver. The Cannucks with Luongo and Raycroft have one of if not the top tandem in the league, in my opinion.

Yeah he is a good goalie, and has played very well for us this year, while Luongo was injured.

Canucks did not have a good game today, until the 3rd period they lookedtired, I guess 3 games in 4 days, and also being on the road took it'stoll, they have 3 days rest now till they meet nashville.Raycroft also didn't play his best, he could have kept us in the gamea little better than he did, but their goalie didn't play all that welleither.Carolina had lots of jump, they were well rested, and also had scottywalker back, and he makes the team a little stronger. Not sure whythey are playing so poorly this year, they have some real good players. Eric Staal was injured earlier, but has been back for awhile now,he will pro bably make team canada.I would rather see canucks lose to carolina and beat the stronger teamsthan see it in 'reverse', and carolina be the only team on the tripthey can beat, then they would be in trouble. They will play better next game.GO CANUCKS GO

Talloola- Best news since the Canucks win last night. Flames just got beat by the Wild. Love it.

Yes, we watched it too, haven't seen the wild play that well for a longtime, they were awsome in the last period after they tied it up.We'll have to be sharp tomorrow.Too bad Calgary got the one point.

Canucks defeated minnesota wild tonight, 4-3, a very important win forthem, as points are so close for many teams, that a loss right nowcould spiral canucks down near the bottom of the conference.Wild outplayed us in many parts of the game, but luongo was great, made the important stops, and we also got the jump on them, whichput them in a catch up position right away.We were poor on the face offs, we were badly outshot, and also outhit. We played hard, good defensively, and got the win.We play los angelos in two days, another 'must' win situation.

I conked out right after I ate my supper and didn't wake up until the game was over, good thing, probably missed a lot of nail biting moments.:lol::lol:

Yeah, thee was a lot of that going on, but when we scored the 4th goal, to go
ahead by 2, I relaxed a little, but then they scored with goalie pulled, and
one minute left in game, the nails came out again.

Canucks won their 3rd game in a row at home tonight, beating L.A. 3-1. A very important win, as the standings are so close.
L.A. is a very good team this season, not easy to beat at all, and
if they had won tonight, they would have been 'first' overall in
the NHL.
Every team has to win to stay a breast of everyone else, as a few
losses in a row, a team will be at the bottom of our conference.

That's true but if the Canucks put together three or four wins they will be very close to first place.
I wish the Canucks had a little better balance. They seem to score two or three goals and then depend on Luongo to save the game for them. Luongo made a few spectacular saves last night that kept LA at bay.
I wonder when Demitra wil be back?

Don't know much about when demitra will be back, but I didn't particularly like his
play last year, although he did chip in for a few points.
Last nights game was a very defensive one, mostly because l.a.
wanted to play that way, I think they were being very consertative
because of our 'deep' game, as canucks can play either way.
First period was more exciting than next two.

l.a. just did not want to open it up, and canucks had the lead so
they didn't need to open it up, and that timely goal by raymond,
(a very pretty one I might add), put the game away.

Luongo is in there, earning big big dollars to do just that, make
big saves, and sometimes steal a game, that is what top goalies
can do, and are expected to do.

He didn't have do that last night, the team was very solid
and didn't give the other team much of anything, as l.a. has lots
of fire power, lots of very talented young players, and if they
are given the space and time, will burn you.

It is extremely hard to 'win' in the nhl these days, all of the coaches and players will say that, every team must be respected as anyone
can beat anyone, anytime, doesn't matter about the standings, and
standings are so close, so one can't say 'well' we should have
beat them because they are lower than us in the standings.

We play anaheim on wednesday, they are near the bottom of our
conference, and have some injuries, but doesn't mean anything,
as we have to respect what they do have, not sure why they are
not having lots of success this year, they have good players,
and can show that on any given night. If canucks can manage to
win that one, we will climb up a little higher, and possibly be
inside the playoff numbers, but staying there is the key.
edmonton were so lousy, now are hot. colorado were hot, then cold,
now hot again, minnesota is playing better now, we were lucky to
beat them the other night, they outplayed us, calgary has been hot
all year, but finally have a few losses lately, but kipprisof is
playing so good, looks like the best goalie in the nhl right now,
as well as cam ward with buffalo.
We are the only team the the nhl who have a zero in the overtime
loss column, which makes it harder to climb the point chart.
We either have wins or losses.

well, in my previous post I mentioned that luongo has to steal a game
once in awhile, and if we had gone on to win this one, he would
have done just that, but a stupid penalty by bieksa near the
end of the game allowed anaheim a power play, and they capitalized
and went ahead by one, and that was the game.

The first 30 minutes was Luongo against Anaheim, and he did very
well, and finally canucks decided to wake up, a couple of fights
helped that happen, then in the last period canucks outplayed
anaheim, but too little too late.

We have won 3 in a row now, then a loss, so now they have to
give it their all against washington, so they don't have 2
losses in a row. Canucks are struggling to get some consistency,
and 3 in a row is OK, but they have to start over now and try
to win 4 in a row.

Anaheim have been playing much better lately and their last 5
games or so have been one goal losses, so they were definitely
coming along, and now tonight have a win. Don't know why they
are down at the bottom of the conference, they have so many
good players. Getzlaf, Perry and Neidermeyer probably will be
on team Canada in the Olympics.

As bad as we played half of the game, anaheim were that good, so
we have to give them credit.

We play Washington on Friday, then canucks will really have their
hands full, so lets hope washington become lazy after hanging
around vancouver for 3 days.

Washington has been in town for 3 days now, hope they are bored
and tired. All we have heard about through the media is Ovetchkin
and I'm allready sick of it, can't wait till he goes home.
I am not a 'fan' of ovetchkin's, don't like his style of play,
sheer strength, talent and a childlike mental approach to the
game, which in my opinion makes him look foolish on some occasions.
I can't imagine him playing 20 years in the league with the approach he has, don't think his body will endure, as he is hard
on himself, as well as his opponents, and if he settled down a
little and tried to play a smoother game, his talent would vanish.
I prefer the twins, kane, toews, crosby and others as the top talents in
hockey, as they play in a more relaxed manner, without having to
almost kill themselves to achieve their goal.
Brenden Morrison will also be back in his home area to play, and
the media have hardly mentioned him, although there is a story
in the paper, so it will be nice to see him again in G M Place,
he is having a pretty good year, but he also has many very very
good players along side to play with, washington, player for
player is more talented than canucks, but does not mean they
will win, if canucks play their 'more' defensive game, which they
will need tonight against this team, and wait for their breaks, to score.
If canucks try to open it up, they will be badly beaten.

Canucks over the Capitals 3 - 2
Ovetchkin looked pretty ordinary tonight. He worked hard as he always does but this was the best game the Canucks have played in a while. Luongo was brilliant in the net with some great saves including a penalty shot. Nathan Raymond got a pair for the Canucks

Yes Juan they played a great two way game, their defence was very good, and penalty
killing was top notch, and Mason Raymond's tieing goal was brilliant, then his
go ahead goal also very good, he's looking better and better as the season continues.
Luongo made a great save on the penalty shot, but I think he should have stopped
the first goal, I wonder if he might have lost focus slightly watching the washington player fall into canuck bench.

They play St. Louis on Sunday

I kind of thought that as well. That should have been an easy save considering some of the great saves he did make.

Right. Small brain cramp there......;-)

well, no so fast now, wouldn't it be wonderful if his twin brother nathan
shows up at the next game, what a double duo we would have.
just wishful thinking.

my smilies don't work any more, don't know how to get them back.
