well, no so fast now, wouldn't it be wonderful if his twin brother nathan
shows up at the next game, what a double duo we would have.
just wishful thinking.
That would be great, but I'd be happy if Demitra just showed up ready to play. I see he's heading home........ for the rest of the season?........I don't know....;-)

Well, the Canucks stunk last night. They lost to St. Louis 3 -1. I would say our defense was the biggest problem, but we couldn't score goals either so the defense wasn't the only problem. They seemed a different team than the one that played Washington a couple nights back. Every team has a bad game once in a while. This was certainly a bad game for the Canucks.

I always shudder prior to games against ST. Louis.

St. Louis hasn't scored as many goals as Vancouver. They've allowed more goals against than Vancouver. They are five points further down in the standings but they had Vancouver's number last night.......Or should I say Luongo's number...?

It would be interesting to see the stats of the last 20 games Canucks have played against St. Louis. (Come on Talloola, we want them now):lol::lol::lol:

sorry, no stats, I'm off to buy groceries in a few minutes. lol

St. Louis have a tragic record at home and a very good one on the
road, that is their sad story for this season, hence at the bottom
of the conference, at least until last night.

Canucks have no consistency this season at all, win one, lose one,
and last night they were pitiful, although St. Louis were so efficient, they didn't let us do much of anything.

We play Nashville on Tuesday, who are the hottest team in the NHL
right now and playing very very well, and if we don't show up, they will
embarrass us.

Grocery shopping done, I'm back for a short while, as you all know
it is a busy week.

Don't know what's happened to Bieksa, he has shut down, has no
grit, no thought process, and seems very slow to make decisions.
He let Backus skate right around him last night, and didn't even
make an attempt to run him away from Luongo. He seems to always
want to slow down the play when he should be speeding up, and I
think he should go, he would get a pretty good return in a trade
right now, (or at least after trade freeze, which comes on the 28th), and he should go before his value around the league drops,
as many teams will still think of him as 'pretty good'.
Wellwood is a write-off, and when Grabner comes back, (he has
been cleared to play, so he has gone to Manitoba for conditioning).
maybe wellwood can be put on waivers, remember him holding out
for a new contract, and making gillis go to arbitration in the
summer, that seems like a joke now.
I still feel positive about the team for the future, as now we
have lots of good young players in the system, some on junior
teams, some in college, and a few in Manitoba, so even though
this year looks very undecided for canucks, next year will be
better, and the year after that.
I see Demitra has gone to Slovakia for medical treatment on his
shoulder, seems he doesn't like treatment here, and thinks he can
get better over there, I think he is history on this team, he will
be a free agent on July 1, and I don't think gillis will re sign
him, he is injury prone, too slow, too soft, (afraid of injury),
and only seems to be effective on the power play.
OK, I'm off shopping again, so much fun, see ya later.

Well, canucks beat nashville 4-1, and played excellent tonight.
Don't have much to say, as they are so inconsistent, I have no
idea what they might do in the next game. Anyway, they are 5 and
2 in this home stand, which is good, so if they can beat Edmonton
on Boxing day, they will have played the home stand at 6 and 2,
and that is excellent.
Then we go to Calgary the next day.
We are holding our own in the standings, not going up and not
going down, maybe after this game we will be in 8th place, and
in a playoff spot, I think for the first time this year.??

That playoff spot is pretty shaky, only if both Detroit and Dallas both lose their next game.

the latest report re: Demitra. He has returned from Slovakia,
where he underwent deep needle treatment to help healing, and
another deep treatment for loosening muscles.
He is putting on an 11 1/2 lb vest each day, and hopping on one
foot from ice level up each stair to top of lower bowl of GM place.
then he does the other foot. He is also taking daily skate drills. He says he will be playing by end of January, or maybe sooner.

Michael Grabner has been cleared to play and has been sent to Manitoba for conditioning, and
will be back up with canucks soon.

canucks play edmonton tomorrow, so lets hope they break their
latest trend, where they beat the good teams and lose to the
lower placed teams, it's time for that to stop.
the next night we play calgary, oh but I guess I should approach
each game just like the teams do, 'one game at a time', and not
look ahead. OK, I'll do that.

Good hockey game tonight by both teams. Timely goals and untimely
penalties made a difference, both goalies played well, and it was
a good game to watch, hard working and rewarding.
Canucks have another game tomorrow in Calgary, hopefully they will
have enough energy to play a complete game without too much
fatigue.
we are now back in 8th place again, one point behind calgary.

Aren't any of you guys even excited by the canucks last two games,
the second being their win over calgary flames, whom they beat
quite handidly, and left the flames feeling very depressed about
themselves.

4-1, with mason raymond getting a hat trick, the second goal, which was
a hail mary, that kiprosoff didn't see, coming from center ice,
and it grazed off of his shoulder and fell into the net. He
didn't play after the first period.

They now travel to phoenix for a game on tuesday.

Too early to get excited yet Talloola, but for now they do have a solid hold on a playoff berth, but a short losing streak can change that, but I'm optimistic. If they win the next two then I think there is reason for excitement. Keeping my fingers crossed. But hey, beating Calgary!!!!!!!!! It just doesn't get any better than that.

you're excited, you just won't admit it, (a little bit?),
well, it's nice to see them grab 7th place for now, yeah
I know they can go down then up, then down, then up, but
aren't you glad you aren't an edmonton fan?

I heard on the radio that the Sedin twins took charge of a team huddle to plan strategy for the final minute of play in a close game. Coach Alain V stood back and listened. The Sedins are finally showing leadership, which is a great thing for the 'Nucks.

The last time I heard of this is when Crosby and Malkin did the same thing and coach of Pittsburgh was fired a few days later. They went on to win the Stanley Cup that year or the next year. But AV won't be fired in Vancouver.

Yes they did, was watching the game, they are leaders, in
their own quiet way, but now I see a new confidence from
them, they are elite players now, have come a long way over
the past two years, and definitely do lead this team, along
with kesler, who has his own way of leading, not always
'smooth', but from the heart.
