a good win for canucks tonight. good defensive hockey, great game by cory schneider.

not an entertaining game, but hockey is hockey and I'll take it however its played.

tanev scored a nice goal and also schraeder who was johnny on the spot to tap one in.

more injuries for canucks and another player was called up from chicago, and ballard

played wing tonight to help out, and played well.

heard this morning that edler has a phone hearing for his hit on phoenix goalie, smith, so he might

be suspended a game or two, I didn't think it was a violent hit, or a hit to the head, but it was a goalie,

so I suppose that is the reason, but the goalies do go out there to cause delays, and he did have the puck,

and wanted to prevent edler from getting it, so he does have some responsiblities as well, edler was

travelling at a high speed, smith stepped out there, knowing he was right in edler's path, and

edler took him out, can't do that, but it was kind of fun seeing it happen, cause those goalies interfere

by just standing there in the way, didn't work this time for smith. But if Doan had of done the same

thing to schneider, we would have been hollering too.

Schneider was great and gained a shutout. On the other hand we only had 13 shots on the LA goal
and the one goal we did get ended up the winner. The last few games have been like playoff hockey
How many goals did it take to win the last three games?

I like the way the canucks played a 'road' game with a depleted lineup, very close checking, give them
nothing, check them close and do what they can on offense. Until the canucks have their complete roster
back in the lineup, they have to manage their games like that.
No point in trying to play any type of 'open' game, they won't survive with the win.

But they 'will' with that strategic defensive close checking style, and sharp goalkeeping.

The win is what they needed, not exciting end to end hockey.

Schneider was great again as the Canucks won another game on the road. I thought the officiating was
somewhat questionable but a win is a win.

Yep, 4 wins in a row now, but I see the Minnesota bastards have 5. Check the rankings in the morning.

yes, that last hooking call on higgins was bogus, his stick was down at ice level the whole time.

Canucks are ahead in points over minny at the moment, unless they win again before canucks do. 40 pts to minny's 38

Colorado play a messy game, lots of mistakes, and they dragged canucks into the same type of play
thru the first period, but canucks tidied their game up in the second, and that ridiculous hooking
call put them down 2 men, shouldn't have happened, however they managed to hang in there till the
end of the game, for the win.

Four in a row now.

Tuesday at home against columbus

Well, see Canucks have jumped from 13th to 8th in the power ranking. Go Schneider go!

they have dug deep for the latest wins, lots of missing regulars. They have shown character with the
skinny lineup, getting those wins, which have meant a lot in the standings.

tough game last night, glad canucks kept patient, didn't go away from the dicipline of the defensive

checking style, as that is what columbus would want, lose patience, begin to open it up, and leave

openings for them, that is the only way they will score, as we saw schneider only had 17 shots at

him, most of them in the last period.

another win, that is the bottom line, 5 consecutive wins now.

twins aren't doing much in this type of hockey, they need a bit of room, no one is giving it to them,

and not much on the power plays either.

twins will play better against better teams, eg. chicago etc.

trade deadline on apri 3, all the sports channels are gearing up for that day, wonder if gillis

will do anything, I see luongo is on the bench now for 5 games, all wins, guess that is the way it

will be until schneider makes some mistakes.

Columbus's goalie was superb last night, if either goalie had of let in an easy one, that would have

been the game.

It was an interesting game last night, if not a wildly exciting game with lots of goals. The Canucks were leading by a goal
towards the end of the game when Columbus pulled the goaltender for an extra attacker. Vancouver scored. Columbus left
the goaltender out and the Canucks scored again....making it 4 -1. Schneider was superb again

Well the Wild and the Blackhawks got beat tonight. They all fall apart sooner or later! Go Canucks go!

yeah, I watched the game. Now they only have one game in hand on canucks, and are still 2 pts back.

anaheim defeated chicago 'again', they have beaten them 3 times i think, this season.

anaheim's first win for awhile, they had fallen twice to detroit and san jose recently.

canucks play edmonton, in edmonton tomorrow.

hmmm, interesting game for canucks tonight.

when the first 7 minutes were completed canucks were behind 4-0,writing on the wall.

the start of the game was a bombshell by oilers, and a non start for canucks.

with the depleted lineup lately, canucks can't score many goals, including the twins too much of the
time as well, so when the score was 4-0 I knew they would not win, but could they score one or two,
and could they now shut down the oilers, well they did the shutdown part, after luongo woke up and
got sharp, but they couldn't score even one goal, and of course the oilers have allready put up4
goals, had fun, played good defense and closed the door, and they did a good job of that, they didn't need any more goals.

so, live and learn, canucks are on their way to san jose, and we'll see if they can score goal or two there.

And, I hope the canuck fans out there at least looked at some of those very talented young oilers, and
noticed the great future of those top end players, (drafted high in the draft each year, because the oilers
were so horrible), well now they can begin to climb the ladder of success again, it will take some time, as
they have struggled because of so much youth, but it is clear, very very talented.

I never 'just' watch the canucks in a game, I watch both teams, and appreciate each side of the game,
and pay attention to 'just' why things happen the way they do.

Luongo definitely wasn't ready to come in to play, two soft goals to make it 4-0, so I don't think it was
a good choice for vineault to switch goalies that soon into the game, the first and second goals were not
schneider's fault, and had he stayed in the game, perhaps the canucks could have come round and scored a
couple themselves and made a game of it, so I do put some blame on vineault for this one,
he quickly wanted to shake up his team, but it didn't work.
Luongo did have a very good 3rd period.

The canucks are doing what they can till they get their full team back again. Quite a few players on the team
are really AHL players, not really NHL ready, so when Kesler, Booth (might not be back), and Kassian return
to the lineup, they will be deeper and at least have 4 decent lines.

Hope gillis can do something constructive next wednesday, trade deadline.

very few scoring chances for canucks. They did finally get two very nice goals, but that was it.

schneider played well against a very tough offensively talented team.

more injuries, more ahl players in the lineup, although it was nice to finally see nicholas jenson,

who is a very talented player, a very young player, a canuck draft choice two years ago, and he will

be with the canucks for many years hopefully.

San Jose 3, Canucks 2

Bill Sweat up from the minors.

I wonder if we will see a completely healthy canuck team this season, kesler will
be back in the near future, but with so much down time this season, will we
see him at 100% at all.

Canucks made a trade today, acquired 'derek roy' from dallas for kevin conaughton anda 2nd rd pick.

he is a good centerman, that will help strengthen down the middle, and schraeder has been sent back
to chicago.

I also hear that canucks have purchased another ahl franchise, and will move it to abbotsford next season,
so that their ahl team will be close by, and the 'heat' will relocate. the heat hasn't done well financially,
seems a calgary owned team just doesn't attract fans in b.c., 'dah'.
haven't heard confirmation of this yet.

trade deadline has come and gone, and luongo is still a canuck. we just watched a press conference with
him taking questions, he is going on now to finish the season with the canucks, he stated that he can now
'stop' thinking about this all the time, and focus on this team. He admitted that his contract 'sucks', and
was the main reason no team could manage to take him, he said he would scrap it right now if he could,
but that can't happen, the league will not allow that.
I was hoping he would go, for his sake, he is a good person, a true professional, and he, gillis and luongo's
agent now have to look at each other and 'each' one take responsibility for the mistake they made by
signing on to such a long term deal.
The new CBA agreement will not allow those contracts any more, 8 years is the longest one can sign for, and
that is only if a team is resigning their own player, if a player comes from another team, they can only
sign them for 7 years.

good luck to luongo, and the canucks do go forward with probably the best goalie team in the NHL, neither
goalie is a back-up, and if one faulters, or gets injured, the other one can fill in quite nicely.

they do have the centerman they needed in 'derek roy' and with kesler coming back soon, the team will
strenthen as they move toward the end of the season.

the only problem I see at the moment is the injuries, and also the play of the twins, which has fallen
of some, recently, hopefully when the team is complete again, 'they' will also play better.

how satisfying this game must have been for the canucks, after being embarrassed a week ago by the oilers,
tonight they got their payback.

From the drop of the puck to the horn at the end of the game, canucks were determined to show the oilers
just who belongs where, and they did it in fine style.

Derek Roy looks just fine, got a nice assist on higgins goal, and he looks like he will be a great
addition to the team.

Zack Kassian came back and had a very good game, skating miles, and got a goal for all his efforts.

The team just needs Kesler back now, and a few games to get himself back to his best, he hasn't skated
for some time, and he has missed so much hockey, that i'm wondering if he can get it going as well as
he would want to, we'll see.

It is the 'Canucks Kids' telethon tonight. The Canucks are very active in their community and give lots
of their time to this worthy cause, and also Canuck Place, good for them.
