canuck defense was poor tday, lots of mistakes, bieksa needs to smarten up, first goal was his fault,
and I saw so many plays during the game where canucks were hemmed in their own end, schneider made many
very good saves, as score could have been many more for colorado.

Yeah, but did you hear the good news? Boston lost to the mighty Hurricanes! That makes up for a lot! -:)

And for a little icing on the cake Columbus beat Minnesota!

minny did get one point, it was a shoot out, but they definitely have slipped somewhat lately.

it isn't surprising when some of the lowely clubs, who will not be in the playoff,
begin to do some winning toward the end of the season.
Calgary is flying lately, a bunch of young guys, nothing to lose, lots of energy.
They rolled over edmonton quite easily, a team that is struggling to make the
playoffs, but looks like they are just about done now.
By the time we play edmontonagain (last game of the season), they will be all
done for playoffs, canucks should beware, they will be out in full force to
beat a playoff team.

good win for canucks last night, they had a bad second period, but when one realizes that nashville
losing last night has knocked them out of any contention for a playoff spot, it is understandable that
they put on a big push, and canucks seemed slow and tired for a while, but they came back again,
raised their game to a better level, and scored a couple more goals, for the win.

Luongo played, as they have back to back games, and st. louis is a playoff team, are very tough to
play against, so tonights game will be a battle.

canucks/st.louis, today at 5 p.m., sportsnet

Canucks in Dallas this afternoon, 5:30

bieksa and tanev still out, won't be playing tonight, and tanev probably won't be ready for
playoffs.

if canucks win tonight, they will clinch playoff spot.

dallas is battling to get in the playoffs, still have a chance, so they will be desperate,
and we cannot just expect to win, canucks will have to earn the win, along with a bit of
luck, like every team needs.

if anyone watched the calgary/detroit game last night, there were 3 very wierd goals scored,
and calgary won the game, causing detroit to drop out of 8th spot, columbus beat anaheim, stepping into 8th spot,
two points ahead of detroit.

Canuck game went along quite nicely for two periods, tied at 1, both teams checking very closely.

Then canucks made two blatant errors one right after the other, and dallas scored on
both of them, then dallas

scored another one, and thats all she wrote.

The game went right down the toilet from there, more mistakes, frustration and tempers flaring,

even schneider fell flat on his face trying to play the puck behind the net, (not a goal, but just

more of the same).

Last game of the road trip, probably some fatigue setting in, and i'm sure they will be glad to get

home.
Dallas 5 - Canucks 1

Minnesota was defeated 6-1 by san jose, so they didn't gain anything on canucks.

Saturday - Detroit in Town. They are desperate right now, in 9th spot, might miss the playoffs, that
would be different.

canucks have clinched the playoffs, only needed one point, got two.

played very defensive tonight, they just wanted the point (s), but detroit was desperate,

and needed two, only got one, even though they outshot canucks by lots.

canucks looked real good in the shoot out, and wings looked feeble, surprised me, but

perhaps detroit was overplaying the shootout, trying too hard, this game was very serious for them.

I hoping for columbus to make it into the playoffs, and its not because I don't want

detroit, I just want columbus, they have a real good team, and deserve it, and I'm

hoping very much for winnipeg to make it too, but they only earned one point today,

doesn't help enough.

Don't hold your breath, but 'Blackhawks are in town on Monday', should be a blast.

Good games right at the end of the season, then anaheim on Thursday, both higher end teams.

I just watched a very exciting and entertaining hockey game. Canucks came to play for sure, and the
black hawks could not quite keep pace, although the game was fast, rough and a debut to the playoffs.

I really liked the play of the young 20 year old'Frank Carrado', just brought up from chicago wolves.
He will be a canuck for years if he keeps playing like that, what a treat.
Bieksa, tanev and now ballard are injured on the D line.

Schneider played his usual solid game, we are now expecting that play from him each and every game,
and he will be so valuable in the playoffs, while luongo looks on, BUT if something happens to schneider
then we have a number one goalie to back up.

Higgins was back and that gave the team the lines they want, more balanced, and the team is deeper.
The chemistry between higgins and roy is great.

The twins had a very strong game. Daniel moved into second place in the all time scoring tonight.
It took henrik 905 games to pass naslund, and wouldn't you know it, it took daniel
905 games to pass naslund, kind of spooky.

two games left. anaheim in vancouver on thursday, then canucks in edmonton after that to wind up the
regular season on saturday.

The Canucks beat the Hawks 3 - 1. It was a good, hard fought game that the Canucks deserved to win. They brought a
new young defenseman, Corrado , up for this game and he didn't look out of place at all. I would have picked him as one
of the stars of the game for his hits and his good, heads up play.

there is lots of chit chat about 'duncan keith's' post game remarks to a vancouver reporter

last night, just do a search for his remarks, kind of interesting, and rather thoughtless.

she commented that she thought his slash on daniel when he scored the breakaway goal should

have been a penalty, and his comeback to her was a put down.

It seems cory schneider is injured, won't be playing tomorrow, and is listed as 'day to day'.

joe canatta, (chicago wolves), will be back-up for luongo till schneider returns.

the following is a bit of 'tongue in cheek' to 'mowich' in reply to your pitts coach report, as our canuck coach
isn't exactly 'chopped liver', he has a few nice credentials for himself.

and I must add, he has never had the depth of personnel that pittsburgh has, not taking anything away
from bilsma, I like him a lot, and respect everything he has done, and he also
did very well while crosby was out for so long.

i'm glad iginla went there and not boston, one of my most favourite players of all time,
and had become a bruin, I would have had to disown him. lol

Alain Vigneault
Head Coach

Alain Vigneault is the 16th Head Coach in Vancouver Canucks history. Since his appointment on June 20, 2006, Vigneault has led the Canucks to two Presidents¹ Trophies, a Stanley Cup Final appearance, and five Northwest Division titles and postseason berths in six seasons with the club. Vigneault¹s combined regular season record (287-155-50) entering the 2012.13 season represents the most successful winning percentage (.634) by a Vancouver Head Coach, while his 287 career wins rank first all-time in franchise history.

In 2011.12 Vigneault guided the club to a 51-22-9 record, leading the club to it's second consecutive Presidents' Trophy.

Vigneault¹s inaugural season with Vancouver was the also the club¹s most successful regular season at that date in time. The Canucks set franchise records for wins (49), points (105) and captured the Northwest Division title, earning a playoff berth for the first time since 2003.04. In recognition of these significant achievements, Vigneault was presented with the Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of the Year at the 2007 NHL Awards in Toronto.

Vigneault previously served as Head Coach of the Montreal Canadiens from 1997-2001, becoming the organization¹s second youngest coach in club history at the age of 36. He compiled an NHL record of 109-118-35-4, reaching the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals during his first season behind the Canadiens bench and was nominated for the Jack Adams Award, following the 1999-2000 season.

Vigneault joined Vancouver from the club¹s AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, where he led the team to within one game of the conference finals. In the 2005.06 season, his first season as Head Coach with the Moose, Vigneault guided the club to a 44-24-7 record.

Prior to joining the Moose, Vigneault spent 10 seasons as Head Coach in the QMJHL with Trois-Rivieres, Hull, Beauport and PEI. In 1988, Vigneault led the Olympiques to the Memorial Cup and was subsequently named CHL Coach of the Year. He has been honoured as coach of the QMJHL¹s Second All-Star team on three separate occasions.

Vigneault has also achieved success on the international stage. He served as an Assistant Coach with Canada¹s National Junior Team in 1989 and 1991, winning a gold medal at the 1991 World Junior Championships in Saskatoon.

The Quebec-native began his career in the NHL playing for the St. Louis Blues from 1981 to 1983. Drafted by the Blues in the eighth round, 167th overall in the 1981 Entry Draft, the defenceman recorded two goals, five assists and 82 penalty minutes in his NHL career. Vigneault went on to serve as a scout for the Blues for two seasons and as an Assistant Coach for the Ottawa Senators from 1992 to 1996.

it is nice to recognize coaches for a change, they are important.

canucks lost to anaheim tonight, luongo played, let in one soft goal, but played pretty good otherwise.

anaheim sat out lots of their top end regulars.

hillier played very well, stopped almost everything, although canucks only played with energy and enthusiasm
in the last period.

anaheim 3 - vancouver 1

next game on saturday in edmonton, luongo will play again while schneider nurses mild injury.

I find the situation canucks found themselves in last night, disturbing and dissapointing from my vantage
point.

My first thought is toward the coaching staff.

They were going into their 'last' game of the season, and everything was looking pretty good, no disasters
had happened, and the team seemed to be in a good level of attitude and performance.

The edmonton oilers are full of 'very very talented young offensive players', and canucks coaching staff
decided to take many of the defense out of the game, along with the twins, and leave the team lacking at
the back end.

The oilers had just come back from defeating minnesota 6-1 night before, they were feeling pretty chipper.

Luongo has been playing OK, had one game under his belt in last game, let in one easy one, and needed a
sharp game to keep him sharp for playoffs, BECAUSE, as was explained last night, he will probably have
to start first game of playoffs.

SO, they stripped their own team of defense, and put him in to play again, and all went well till last
period, when canucks lost their way, luongo let in a couple of soft ones, but the team also went south
and without their 'complete team' didn't figure out how to turn it around, and those great scorers on the
oilers could see what was happening, and turned it up, and had their way with the canucks rest of the
game.
Luongo and the rest of the team totally unravelled, he was completely frazzled, pucks were flying at him
from everywhere, and he just could not cope.

NOW, I know the rest of the team will rebound from this catastrophe, but how do they expect luongo to
do the same. He was embarrassed and humiliated last night. I felt very sorry for him.
And now, he has to start in the playoffs, or, are they going to bring schneider to
start, even though he isn't 100% healthy.

The coaches should all be smacked, 'side of the head', it is their fault, they
didn't give this game enough thought, and definitely didn't give luongo's situation
any thought at all.

OK, I'll drag this thread on till season is over.

San Jose won the first period last night, and if it hadn't been for luongo the game would have
been over before the second period even started, he made many stellar saves.

Canucks won the second period, don't know why, but san jose couldn't play that pace in the second,
and canucks were the better team by far.

The third period was a scramble, but san jose managed to reign supreme over canucks again, hence
winning the game 3-1

People can question the play of the canucks all they want, but san jose, being exactly in the same
boat as canucks, with a team that hasn't done what they were expected to do for a few years now,
and this is their chance, just like the canucks to finally break thru and go far.
San Jose has many very good players, just as good a team as canucks, and when this series is over
we'll know which team is actually better than the other.

We can question why canucks didn't play well in the first period, and the san jose fans can question
why their team did the same in the second period, it is bazaar how teams can dominate a period, then
be dominated the next period.

very good game tonight, although canucks came out on the short end, early into overtime.

canucks were ahead 2-1 with one minute to go in the game, when sharks tied it up.

could have been anybody's game.

both goalies played very well

next game in san jose on sunday.

Am glad to see the Islanders beat Pittsburg. Like you keep saying, there is very little difference in the talent and capability of teams today. With the exception of the Canucks, I generally root for the underdog. In the case of the Wild I don't think it would do much good. -:)
