All these shots are a scam by Big pharma to increase profits. the media is always loking for a scare to sell print as well. Just like the bird flu and mad cow was going to kill us all. Unless you have a low immune system you are better off without them.
Someone had mentioned overdosing on vitamin C. Not a good idea. Your body can only process so much and the rest is hard on your liver and kidneys.

Twice as likely get H1N1 after getting the H1N1 shot or by normal means?

Without clarity that can means the shots are a source of infection.
No. All they are saying is that for some reason, they realized that people who were getting their seasonal flu shot rapidly contracted the H1N1 virus. In regard to the mercury in the shot, I question what you have to say because - it states that this is the first time it's been allowed in Canada and all flu shots contain some mercury.

petros and VanIsle: What are you two debating? You do not get flu from flu shots. Normal flu shot does not cause swine flu. No you do not get mercury poisoning from a flu shot. The swine flu is a declared epidemic in the U.S. It will not stop at the border. If you have the availability of the swine flu shots get them. The regular flu shot you should have had already.

Spade is right,I am getting a flu shot for two reasons:
1. To protect my family
2. To protect myself

Was told by my doc I should get a shot just cuz. She also told me that getting the swine flu shot before a regular flu shot is advisable as the H1N1 shot may increase the risk of getting swine flu.
As far as the mercury in the shot goes, there's something like 70 times the amount of mercury in a can of tuna as there is in a flu shot.

Seems that Canadian sources are saying that flu shot may increase getting H1N1. Wonder about that, since H1N1 shots are just now being given out, takes about 2 weeks before any immunity starts. Maybe other sources, but only looked at 1st page that came up.
I was told to get them both also.

Quote:
No one should take the swine flu vaccine—it is one of the most dangerous vaccines ever devised. It contains an immune adjuvant called squalene (MF-59) which has been shown to cause severe autoimmune disorders such as MS, rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. This is the vaccine adjuvant that is strongly linked to the Gulf War syndrome, which killed over 10,000 soldiers and caused a 200% increase in the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehreg disease). This virus H1N1 kills by causing a “cytokine storm”, which means that it cause the body’s immune system to overreact and that is why it is killing young people and is a mild disease in the elderly. (The elderly have weakened immune systems.) This vaccine is a very powerful immune stimulator and carries the real possibility of making the lethality of the virus much greater.

One’s best protection is vitamin D3. One should take 5000 IU a day now and when the disease begins to spread increase the dose to 15,000 IU a day. Vitamin D3 modulates the immune reaction, reducing the chance of an overreaction and stimulates the body to produce what are called antimicrobial peptides, which are powerful killers of viruses that does not involve immunity. This is dose related, which means the higher the dose of vitamin D3 the better the protection. Fish oils (the best is Carlson’s Norwegian lemon flavored fish oil) also reduce immune overreaction. One teaspoon a day should be sufficient. For severe symptoms, one teaspoon twice a day. Antioxidants of various kins also help—this includes, quercetin, curcumin, grapeseed extract, vitamin C and natural vitamin E. A good multivitamin/mineral such as Extend Core (www.vrp.com) is also essential.

Thanks for posting that Zan. I've heard the same thing from other sources. It explains a lot about the peculiar mortality profile of H1N1.

I had no intention of getting the flu vaccine in any case. I've usually had mild flus every few years and i'm pretty sure this will not affect me worse, being well out most vulnerable categories.

But take your D3 and C, especially in the low sunlight winter period. It'll make your colds less severe as well.

What I meant was that the regular flu shot may increase the chance of getting H1N1. So taking the H1N1 shot before a regular flu shot is advisable. lol My fingers don't always type what I want them to. :D

Maybe it wouldn't do any harm just to hang and rattle for a couple of weeks before rushing out to get one and watch to see if anyone expires from it in the meantime.

I'm getting the ordinary flu shot tomorrow and the swine flu shot next Wednesday. There is some risk with both but according to my doctor, and a neighbor who is a doctor, you are better off if you get the shots than if you don't.

Don't come near me...

I am getting a flu shot for two reasons:
1. To protect my family
2. To protect myself

That is exactly the two reasons I am NOT getting them.
A fw years back I got conned into getting a flu shot because I was working part time on the ambulance. I have never been that sick since I was a little kid.

That's pretty much where I'm at with this. The situation is being monitored pretty closely so if there's any adverse reactions to the shot I'm sure we'll be hearing pretty quickly as things move along.

JLM people in the USA have been getting them for a couple of weeks now. You might have to wait anyway because we are not considered to be in the high risk group for H1N1.
Like several others on here, I am getting mine for the safety of my family and myself. I might be allowed mine early because of special circumstances within our family. In fact, I have to call my son right now to see how soon he wants to get the children in. Of my 5 grandchildren, 3 of them will have to have the 1/2 dosage first and the next half 21 days later.

You did not and can not get the flu from a flu shot! It is a dead vaccine. You were already in the process of getting the flu when you got your shot is all that happened. Nothing more than coincidence.

Ironsides: The H1N1 virus hit BC faster than anywhere else in Canada and it hit quite sometime ago. A lot of people are pretty angry that the vaccine has not been more readily available here since we were hit hardest first.
Petros and I are really not debating anything. His explanation for the word Adjuvanted was that it means there is mercury in the vaccine and mine was different because I know there is mercury in all the flu shots and I know also that there are minute amounts. It has been stated in our BC papers that adjuvanted means the vaccine contains a compound that boosts the effectiveness of the vaccine and more importantly (to me) allows the administration of smaller doses. That is, I am sure, why children can have it. Petros believes that the meaning is that mercury has been added but that doesn't work for me because, as I stated before - flu shots have mercury and they say this is the first time adjuvanted shots have been used in Canada.

Some people do get flu-like symptoms VanIsle from immunization. It's not the deactivated virus, but the normal immune response to processing a foreign protein in your body.

Another more serious circumstance is people allergic to egg proteins. The viral culture is grown in egg albumin, and that can result in anaphylactic shock if you're allergic to those proteins.

I did state in an earlier post that our paper clearly states that if you are highly allergic to eggs, you should not have the shot. The regular flu shot cannot cover every flu out there. All they can do is hope they gear up for the right one. The best they promise is that if you do get the type of flu they have immunized for, you will get a mild case but you won't get it from the shot itself.
