Some people don't understand "metaphors" and "figurative speech" and as such should shy away from debating.

No. I believe in people being accountable, and if they were to sit back and seriously ponder their actions, they could probably see how they contribute to growing partisan divides, and increasing anger amongst supporters. They could probably see how their rhetoric is contributing to the hate.
But like you already said, nothing is going to change. People who hate Palin will still hate her. People who hate Obama will still hate him. And there will be an opinion out there on a blog, or conventional media source to cater to these nutjobs. To pat them on the bottom and tell them they're special. To confirm their hatred. To reinforce their ignorance.
Time will not change the outcome...the nut will go to trial whether he's a democrat or republican
But political ideology always changes the direction of these discussion...otherwise we wouldn't be talking about it if we agreed on everything.

That's right I didn't. So, lets just forget you even brought them up. The question was posed to you (in regards to "intense background checks, mental screening and extensive training) "who is going to do that"? Since you have so little use for bureaucrats I was just wondering how you think people that can't run a utility system can run something as complex as a mental screening. Alternatively, if you don't feel these incompetent civil servants are capable of such a difficult task, you could always explain who you think should be doing it.

Well troll, I find myself in a conundrum. I guess, unlike yourself, I'll have to eat some of my own words (Oh what a Joey thing to do) and say the Feds should.
Since in the past, the criminal background checks worked, and in the recruiting phase of service, you have to pass a mental health test. The Gov't can handle some things.
But hey, don't let that stop you from taking a comment out of context. I mean when we're taking about running a corporation and doing background checks on people, we're talking about the exact same thing right?
Not to mention, in this province, PAL courses are done by private firms.
