Gun injuries, including many from assaults, sent 75,000 U.S. children and teens to emergency rooms over nine years at a cost of almost $3 billion, a first-of-its-kind study found.
https://www.wral.com/guns-send-over-8-000-us-kids-to-er-each-year-analysis-says/17954098/
Pressure from the gun lobby has limited U.S. government funding for research on gun injuries and death, and that has led to big gaps in understanding the scope of the problem, said Dr. Denise Dowd, an ER physician at Children's Mercy hospital in Kansas City.
"It's really important that we have an idea of the magnitude of life lost and injured and how much money we are spending ... so we can prioritize it as a national health concern."
The NRA probably wants everyone to pack a larger calibre do that one will be killed outright and the injury rate will therefore be reduced.

The NRA is laser-focused on preventing any liability from falling on the gun makers.

The taxpayer can handle the bills.

That is because, if the gun makers have done their job carefully and with due diligence, then they are not liable.

They are selling weapons, whic are dangerous by definition.

It is not their fault if people misuse them, by intent or by accident.

As well, private possession of these weapons is a right guaranteed in the Constitution.

What the folks on the left want to do is put gun makers out of business, thus denying the people the right to bear arms.

The NRA is a civil rights group, working to preserve the individual rights of the people.

I much prefer them over anti-liberty gun control freaks.

Your feelings, so very special, are irrelevant.
Tobacco was made to pay up for the damage their products do. Like car makers and every other honest business.

Bullshit!

At that time it seems that Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau came under the influence of neoliberalism, promulgated by Frederich Hayek and Milton Friedman. Then, while attending the Basil Committee sessions, he probably came under further influence of fellow Bilderberg attendees and as a result he accepted the partisan flawed logic from the world’s top banks. Apparently on the basis of this, he decided that Canada should dramatically reduce borrowing interest-free money from Canada’s own bank and instead borrow the bulk of its money from chartered banks and pay interest on the loans. It appears that this decision was made without informing Canada’s parliament. This was such a fundamental change of policy that it should not only have been debated in parliament, this should have been put to a national referendum. Strangely, even when this became known, this was apparently never questioned by the opposition parties, especially the NDP, and never revealed in the media. Strange indeed.

COMER — Committee on Monetary and Economic Reform EST. 1986

Supreme Court of Canada Dismisses Constitutional Bank of Canada Case, Claiming It Is a Political Matter

Toronto, May 31, 2017 – After nearly 5.5 years of contentious litigation between the Committee On Monetary and Economic Reform (COMER) and the Government of Canada involving three separate Federal Court and two additional Federal Court of Appeal hearings resulting in contrary decisions, on May 4, 2017, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed COMER’s “leave” (permission to appeal) application from the second judgment of the Federal Court of Appeal.

How do you compensate someone who has died from dr prescribed tobacco use? MY Aunt went that way, she was prescribed cigarettes to help her sleep at night. They did relatively little except compensate the lawyers.

I like to point out to dummies like him that before the liberals of Pierre trudeau that the country would borrow interest free from the Bank of Canada.
Check out just the interest we pay yearly....... https://www.fraserinstitute.org/art...ebt-translates-into-7000-for-a-family-of-four

Thank you Trudeau liberals

Some guy- who had been drinking- took his son out in a canoe- a vessel well known for being unstable- for a ride out on notoriously

windy Georgian Bay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The father did not bother with life jackets of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the inevitable happened- the canoe flipped and the kid drowned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And THE FATHER has been convicted- basically of being an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So WHY dont we sue the makers of inherently unstable canoes????????????????????

And WHY dont we sue the makers of alcohol- a substance with a long history of being at the heart of stupid life choices?????????

LOGIC is NOT something LIE-berals wish to dabble with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

many jurisdictions in north america have successfully sued tobacco companies for damages and costs.

perhaps you could take some time from your important work here and actually find out how its done

Tobacco is a product that was intended for pleasure, and advertised as a health benefit for decades. There is no right to have to have tobacco, and add the fact that is is highly addictive (believe me, I know) and you will understand that these are not the same.

I think the tobacco suits were justified in the 70's and 80's, but now it is ludicrous. Anyone that lights up now understands the risk involved.

Again its all feel good info - but when the taxpayer is on the hook for a bunch of expenses due to the sale and consumption of tobacco then the proceeds from those sales must at least help pay the freight.\\

Likewise with guns.

What expenses does the taxpayer face from legally owned and operated firearms ?

So, from the responses made for common sense and thoughtful discussion, some here believe it better to criticize and belittle in place of reasonable solutions. It then goes to blaming a particular group or groups. Having others supporting hatred of those perceived as the enemy results in what we saw in the US this past week.

Add ...... the freedom to acquire enough arms to supply an army with virtually no restrictions empowers a mail bomber tryng to kill off Trump's list of those who are seen to stand against him, is toxic. It ends in the slaughter of religious groups, students, different racial groups. Inciting to riot or violence is exactly what happened. so let's cut out the rhetoric and stick to reasonable responses.

Make no mistake, when we vote, we chose those who's ideas we agree with. If when we do not vote or vote in a radical leader in protest we get what we deserve.
