Why does the second poorest nation in Central America with an average per capita income of $1,800 US per year have high levels of violence?

Is that really the question you need answered?

Soooo....if poverty is the problem, why are we talking about gun control?

FBI fields more than 200,000 gun checks, a single day record, on Black Friday | WPXI

203,086 background check requests received by the FBI on Black Friday. Maybe Sessions looking into the background check thing is getting people motivated to get theirs before the rules tighten up?

Sigh

Please stop talking about subjects of which you know absolutely nothing.

Background checks in the USA happen when you are purchasing the firearm........which makes your post nonsense.

"There were 203,086 requests received by the bureau’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, according to USA Today.

The previous single-day records, both on Black Friday, were 185,713 last year and 185,345 in 2015.

Gun checks are not a measure of the actual number of guns sold. Multiple firearms can be purchased in a single transaction by the same buyer.

The surge comes days after Attorney General Jeff Sessions asked for a review of the background system in the wake of the Texas church shooting by a court-martialed veteran who was able to purchase a weapon used to kill 25 people. The Air Force also is investigating its part in the breakdown."

So, the Americans essentially have a sort of gun registry, then? ...or do they blank out the record after every check and start again fresh every time you purchase a new firearm? ... and if the USAF fails to report a kook to the gun registry, ????
So, isn't all if this "background checking" a huge infringement on the freedom of the individual? Why is American law enforcement keeping that information?

That is assuming that ALL guns are purchased "legally"

That never misses a chance to brag about her trips to Florida and all the money she has...
Maybe she even volunteers at the vet next door and takes in lost pets?

Yes...That's why they stay with their parents until age 25 or more

Maybe not entirely their fault, Sleepy- Accommodation vacancies are between 0 and 1% in a lot of places and rents are highly prohibitive. Every time the minimum wage goes up the landlords just take a bigger bite.

There were 203,086 separate people requesting to be back ground checked to get guns. It might have been 100 guns or 1 gun.

So someone can buy 100 guns legally and sell them illegally. Every gun is made legally. They only become illegal when they start getting passed around.

canadians who legally buy handguns are subjected to a daily automated background check. Are you saying that we have a problem with people legally buying then selling illegally?

And, our background check - when performed daily - is useless at stopping this?

Why would anyone be an advocate for more back ground checks?

Yes i think you need to have back ground checks in order to weed out the very obvious ones that everyone agrees should not be allowed to own a firearm.

I don't believe it has very much power over illegal guns and illegal gun owners but it may prevent some obvious problems from occurring.

speaking of defacing monuments - a pro gun group decided to hold a protest over guns at the memorial for the Polytechnique shooting victims.

An illegal firearm purchase (straw purchase) is a federal crime. An illegal firearm purchase can bring a felony conviction sentence of ten years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000.
