Geez just think if a person who escaped from a mental institution had not had access to a gun or multiple ones, NOBODY would have gotten killed!
Or maybe he would have blown the church to smithereens killing everyone inside , in which case there would have been more killed .

Just think, if magical fairies had flown in and caught each bullet and gently deposited in the bell of a beautiful flower, NOBODY would have gotten killed!

And the amount of them and availability to them.

True. Though bows, spears, javelins, and a host of other distance weapons are freely available and even less restricted, there doesn't seem to be as much demand for them. Again, probably due to that bang-bang splat-splat die-die factor.

Crossbows are banned in Massachusetts. After a crossbow killing the State Legislature ran right to the chambers and laid the ban down.

AND for those who are familiar with Mass politics know the famous words of George Kaverian...

"How many moah must die Mistah Speakah! How many moah!"

Does that include arbelests? I'm not moving to Taxachusetts if I can't bring my arbalest!

Besides, the cops in Lowell are dicks.

Yeah. If you wanted a poster boy for "Guy who shouldn't be allowed to buy guns", this guy was it.

Which is an interesting statement from someone who doesn't believe in gun control.

Speaking of mental health issues, a friend of mine, who is a Mountie, when his wife left him, he was sent for a bunch of mental health investigations before he was allowed to get his gun back.

Which I thought made perfect sense; is this SOP, or was this a special case?

Northern Ontario,
A repost of the only time (I can recall) I ever had to kill something defensively with a handgun.....
Maybe a lot of CC holders are smarter than me but I learn quick....

Without going into a lot of details (since I don't type to fast), the first time I had to dispatch an animal (a rabid fox) while prospecting.
After I had dutifully buried it, along with the gloves I had used to drag it into the hole....After I had dropped off my equipment at home, and picked up some papers with the rules of prospecting, I went to th Ministry of natural resources to make a report.
After showing the officer on a map where the animal was buried, I started my report, which the officer was writing down...when I got to the part where I shoot the fox with a .357 he stopped and wanted to charge me, first with having a handgun and then for shooting an animal out of season...
It's a good thing I came prepared, I gave him a photocopy of my carry license, a copy of the prospecting regulations where it states that under penalty of loosing my licence, I have to dispatch and dispose of a rabid animal in the way I had done....I then walked out, telling him that if he wanted any more details, he had my address.
On my way out as I closed the door, I saw him crumple the report into a ball and drop it in the garbage.
After that I never reported any occurrence, since none ever caused injury...to a human.

What I never mentioned to the conservation officer since he made me so mad, was that I had a witness, a lady and her son who were picking blueberries in the area and came to check what the shooting was about and saw the emaciated fox with foam on his mouth that I was burying....

The murder rate in Germany is 0.85 per 100,000..............that is less than 1 per 100,000, and 1/10th what you claim.

Pay attention to the point.........it makes a difference.
It only makes a difference until you compare it to America and then suddenly it doesn't matter anymore.

Only if you think the US rate is 1/2 that of Germany.....instead of 5 times the German rate.

BTW, Honduras has very tough gun control......and a murder rate of 63.75 per 100,000............15X the US rate.

Explain.
