Bears can and do make off with sacks of animal food, produce, etc. around here. There have been instances of bears going through kitchen doors to get into kitchens here. In the case of those who do not have guns here, they phone the CO and the CO sends an officer out to track and trap or shoot the bears. One bear in one night completely rubbed out one of our neighbor's method of income. It killed every single chicken and mowed down an entire field of corn. A cougar killed almost every pig of another neighbor.
Yeah, right. Guess you've never seen a flock of crows or ravens devastate the crop of a cherry orchard. They get used to the compressed air bangers and ignore them. Bear bangers don't work on some of the bears around here either.
And what's more is that gun control does little to discourage crime. Not much of anything discourages crime. So in effect, gun control IS useless.

Once again, as it appears you didn't read it the first time:
I went looking to isolate two populations, as close as possible in population make-up, culture, etc, with the ONLY difference being gun control laws. I settled on the west, the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta in Canada, and the three American states that border them, Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota. These seemed to be the best examples, as they are the two areas of Canada and the United States that are the most alike in population culture, etc., yet most different in gun legislation.
Possibly the nutters that like to shoot people, too.
We have several. But then we use them appropriately, so we support a certain amount of gun control, too. That's what annoys us about stupid gun laws and the "reasons" people use to implement them.

Dershowtz has taken a page from Fox and like their broadcasters, does not allow any untruths to last but drowns them out. That clown Lott was relying on his own bent stats. Stats can be slanted in all sorts of ways, and he was asked the way they were collected. He finally admitted, they were is own collection. He then points to England's stats but does not allow for population growth in the time period. The difference between 39 and 8000 plus are still way out of line.
By the way, what if there had been a few gun lovers in the movie theater at the time, how many more would have been wounded or killed?? It seems the return of the wild, wild west is what people of this ilk are aiming for.

First of all, Lott's stats are not bent. He was careful in his research, his papers have been peer reviewed, and his methodology has never been successfully challenged.
Therefore, the idiot Dershowitz (who is a supporter of torture, BTW) was being libelous in his claim that Lott's results were bought by the NRA. If you watch the piece, you will see him realize he had stepped over the line, and try to backpedal, arguing he hadn't said what he clearly did say, while saying it yet again.
The point, however, is not about either the ignorant moron Piers or the lying, torture supporter and libelous jackass lawyer, but about DEBATE. They invited Lott to appear, and then tag-teamed him. They NEVER allowed him to make and defend a single point. Not once in thirteen minutes.
That is not debate, it is ambush.
Lott should have said to Piers: "Will you STFU and let me answer?" and if Piers did not, he should have simply stood up, said "I guess I don't need to be here, you two can scream nonsense at my empty chair............." and left
