Northern Ontario,
I had to work my balls off and save up a couple grand to get my PAL. ;-)

I was grandfatered but I still had to write and pass the test.....cost $50

But my license is still for non restricted, restricted and prohibited since I owned a .357 ruger with just under 4 in. barrel...that was also grandfathered when they brought in the regulations in march???....

Don't forget: if the perp makes it out the door before you get to down him, drag him back into the house and clean up any mess left in the yard. This was advice given to a friend by a local RCMP officer.

LOL...."Good grief, no relationship between long gun registry and declining death rates by guns"?? BS..... I love that bit about the population is older, and that is the reason for the decline. Our population is older and wealthier LOL.....That alone is an excellent reason for keeping the registry as it is, after all, can we afford to lose those younger people?? Quite obvious how desperate the anti-gun registry people are getting.

I listened to that Dr. and compared it to my own 30 year experience working an Emergency Department. (part of the job was compiling stats for the government) His analysis just doesn't stand up. Makes me wonder how much donations into for research into Mental Health rose ?? If his experience with how much of EDepts. are tied up with those who have mental health issues, compares with mine..I understand how easy it was to come up with those stats.

Stats are always skewed by those who have an agenda but this was really very blatant. The interviewer spent most of the time trying to elicit a heck of lot more against restricting firearms than the good Dr. was willing to commit to.

Speaking of "good grief"...

I like how you think your claims, minus any supporting evidence, is more powerful than a detailed report.

Try again.

How about the United Nations removes all gun control from member Nations and imposes their own control?

Sort of negates any discussions by us.

I wouldn't worry too much ironsides, the United Nations will be very busy over the next decade with all those countries, including the US going bankrupt. Watch that demonstration happening around Wall-street. ?America's version of what happened in Egypt & Lybia?? Going to be interesting as the US population is probably better armed that their government.

First of all, most murders by any means are committed by young males. That is why the murder rates go down as the population ages; fewer young males to do the killing.

The anti-registry people are getting "desperate"???? Ah....we won. Legislation to be introduced this fall to kill that particular bit of stupidity dead at last.....a good start.

The good doctor is correct.....murder rates rose immediately after full implementation of the registry........and suicide rates have not fallen significantly.

If there is no easily Measured advantage, we should always err on the side of liberty.

I agree that homicides by firearms have declined but it is Mr. Langman opinion only that attributes that decline to age & wealth. No stat graph on that I notice. Oh and guess who is anti-longgun registry?? Mr.Langman!! I don't see how he explains Chicago & Windsor stats either. Are Chicagoans, much poorer than Windsorites and so very much younger on average as well?. Remember those 700 to 0 over two years stats. The main difference is the gun registry.

I do not understand the difference between proving one's competence in operating a truck or a car, earning a degree to treat the sick or represent someone in a court of law, having a degree to teach ..... and proving one is sensible & knowledgeable enough to have a gun. Explain to me why having a weapon who's sole purpose is to kill or maim should not call for the same standards of competence??

The legislation may be introduced this fall, doesn't mean it will pass.

Repeat....

Maybe If you compared the population demographics in both cities you might understand why...

Bloody good reason to keep the registry, keep the guns out of the hands of young males!!

The anti-registry people are getting "desperate"???? Ah....we won. Legislation to be introduced this fall to kill that particular bit of stupidity dead at last.....a good start.

We'll see. Can't see all those mothers, who's daughters attending college died at the hands of an angry male sitting by and letting it happen.

The good doctor is correct.....murder rates rose immediately after full implementation of the registry........and suicide rates have not fallen significantly.

Rates probably rose because the guns were not traceable but soon would be. But suicides by guns has.

If there is no easily Measured advantage, we should always err on the side of liberty.

Of course, the liberty to not be shot by a young, poor person with a gun, or the liberty to argue with a mate and not get shot dead!! Or the liberty of a child to play in his yard and not get killed by a gun toting drive by numbskull.

Repeat....

REPEAT........Check out the Windsor/ corridor population and compare it to Chicago proper!! No matter how many excuses you come up with Zero to 700 is pretty hard to get around isn't it LOL.

My idiology?? I am not the one who views guns as the holy grail!!

May I point out 95l270 in Chicago proper & 313342 in Windsor proper comes out .......to about 2/3 to 1/3 population-wise. Now lets divide that 700 into 1/3's ..... my my it still tells the tale very nicely doesn't it. 233.9 to ZERO. And the difference is (drum roll).........GUN REGISTRY.
