Again, in Florida and some other states, a mans home is his castle. Someone breaking into your home is in most cases lucky to get out of the situation alive. He cannot sue you so no need for a head shot. I have to admit our law has gone a wee bit to far in that If I just feel threatened by you (no threat intended on your part), I can shoot you because I am in fear of my own life.
(That is something you really have to be able to prove)

My OP is about Canada and its situation with and attitudes about firearms.

Anyway, not everyone in Canuckville has insurance and not everyone is Canada is blase about everything they own.

It's stupid not to have insurance. As for blase about everything they own, show me where a tv or some jewlery has a value that's higher than someone's life. Everything in the average home can be replaced.

Why did they switch from one to the other?
I noticed no one has bothered to offer up some alternative method of controling who has a gun. Is that meant to imply that in the gun industry there are no reasonable arguments supporting some alternate ideas?

I heard through the government grape vine that the government is expanding the gun registry program by moving it from Miramichi to one of the western provinces and they are doubling the staff.

I don't handle guns as much as you have ironsides I respect your perspective on weapons and the care and handling of same especially in the company of other armed bipeds. You know when somebody in the gang don't follow the rules, he gets the **** kicked out of himself. The state has to know where the weapons are in times like these especially. I don't care if you have or want guns. You'll find if you look that the same people worried about your old rifle are the same people that want you to believe that 911 was an enemy terrorist attack. They want your guns not me. I'm not worried that you'll be raiding my gated mansion. :lol:

This is true, in a way.

But the fact is that we are talking about degree here......the law should reflect some respect for ancient rights, practicality, and usefulness.

I have no problem with licensing, training and background checks.

I have huge problems with ever-more restrictive classifications and prohibitions of firearms (now the Liberals, Bloq, and NDP are after semi-automatics....popular since 1900, and handguns). I also have problems with legislated search without reasonable cause.....etc.

The cons, given a majority, will dump the long-gun registry.........

and the Cons will not belabour us with any more gun legislation written by drooling idiots like David Miller.

You will never get Unanimity here about gun control because Canada has decided to have gun control far in excess of what is needed. You have surpassed even New York who probably has the strictest gun control in the U.S. They allow anyone to apply for a concealed pistol permit, but only grant it after a complete background check, including mental health, criminal, character, local police, F.B.I. etc. Then and only then will you be issued a restricted permit. (target shooting, hunting only etc.) Takes about 8 months before a permit is issued.


As I mentioned before you try to ban them all together, thus creating the forbidden fruit. Let weapons be available and allow people to own them after a complete check similar to N.Y..
