Northern Ontario,
I bet more children die in the US from guns than from auto accidents. So maybe, having one's privacy invaded legally every so often is not such a high price to pay.

.

See link below.....

Oh really?

I don't suppose you'd have any of those things called "facts" to back up such and idiotic statement?

Based on asinine statements?
Here are some facts......take note...from lawyers no less

Because I get really tired of arguing every stupid claim. The other day I did the heavy lifting on pointing out Grievous's many errors on health care. Your turn.

Well there is not much heavy lifting here. It was a slam dunk.

I tend to think though you let slip because you find way too much pleasure in going after the Gun Rights people that you are willing to overlook stupidity.

Firearms do not make it into the top spot for deaths for any age group under 24.........in fact, they are not the leading cause of death in ANY age group.

Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in age groups 5-9. 10-14, and 15-24.

BTW, while about 31,000 people die each year from firearms in the USA, about 20,000 are voluntary (suicide)

To compare, 440,000 Americans die each year from tobacco use ..........and 10% of those are INVOLUNTARY (second hand smoke)

Oh my!! Are you really trying to make us believe that stats can NOT be skewed to produce whatever results the client wishes?? No one is that naïve surely!! Does it not make sense that the more weapons in circulation the higher the gun violence will be?? Just spend six months in Florida or Texas and you will find the deaths by guns bear no relationship to the stats that are registered. Now as far as I know, neither of those states have recently had multiple school, university or mall killings to put their stats up. It is just business as usual. Get real man!!

So, your basic position is "I'm right no matter what the facts say?"

You're a good fit for this board.

This is the sort of argument I despise as idiocy. It is obvious that clueless teenagers have no idea as to the proper handling of a gun nor what the ramifications of firing such a gun would be. It is a proven fact that young people do not develop the sense of consequence of actions until much later than first thought. So by allowing availability of guns without strict rules, governments encourage lawlessness and death of innocents, sometimes just for disagreeing with an undeveloped personality..

If that gun had not been so readily available the victim would probably have had a better chance of survival, thereby preventing a death sentence for two. So, rather than the gun being at fault it is the LAWS regarding distribution of weapon that needs attention n..

What makes you think the person in the cartoon is a teenager?

Do you know many adults that wear their hats backwards, have pants so low they look loaded while using their spare hand to hold up those same pants??. Add that "Huh" look on the face, and the whole cartoon does not exactly portray a responsible adult. Or does that cartoon resemble the adults in your world??

As to stats......unless one looks very closely at the parameters of any study, money talks. If gun stats come from a health department which collects from doctors, hospitals, police departments and clinics they will be very different from those collected by a rifle association.

Idaho professor accidentally shoots himself in the foot in chemistry class
Laura Zuckerman, Reuters
First posted: Wednesday, September 03, 2014 07:25 PM EDT | Updated: Wednesday, September 03, 2014 07:44 PM EDT
SALMON, Idaho - An Idaho State University assistant professor with a concealed-carry gun permit shot himself in the foot with a semiautomatic handgun that accidentally discharged from inside his pocket in a chemistry classroom full of students, police said on Wednesday.
No other injuries were reported and no charges have been filed in Tuesday's shooting in Pocatello in a building that is part of the university's physical science department, according to Pocatello Police Lieutenant Paul Manning.
The instructor, who was treated and released from a local hospital, possessed a so-called enhanced concealed-carry permit that allowed him to carry a hidden gun on campus under a state law that went into effect on July 1.
Idaho's Republican-led legislature passed the law allowing guns on university grounds earlier this year over the objection of the presidents of the state's leading universities, including Idaho State, which was routinely ranked as one of the safest campuses in the United States.
In response to the new law, the university for the first time dispatched public safety officers armed with semiautomatic pistols to patrol the university's southeastern Idaho campus this summer to safeguard students and staff.
Those officers and Pocatello police responded to Tuesday's shooting, which college spokeswoman Adrienne King said did not pose an imminent threat to the school of 14,000 students nor require a lockdown or evacuations.
An examination of records dating to 1997 showed no other reports of an accidental shooting on campus, she said.
Manning said authorities are investigating why the small-caliber weapon discharged, whether it was fitted with a safety device and if the device was engaged at the time of the incident.
Guns are banned in areas of the physical science complex where there is nuclear research but are allowed under the new law in the chemistry lab where the firearm went off, King said.
Nineteen students are enrolled in the chemistry course but it was unclear how many were on hand when the incident took place, King said. She declined to release the name of the instructor, citing privacy laws tied to personnel matters.
"Idaho State University is in compliance with the Idaho gun law. Yesterday's incident was an unfortunate accident," university President Arthur Vailas said in a statement.
The university is likely to conduct an administrative review of the incident after a probe by Pocatello police, officials said.

Guess you didn't read this Birdie?
Can't be true, it doesn't fit with you preconceived notions...
No, I didn't and I will give you my reasons. I know swimming pools are dangerous as I have had one since l967. Just like the rules gun owners should be subjected to, my pool is not used without me being present. It is fenced and no child can get in. I taught my children and grandchildren to swim very young and even then they were not allowed to swim without a watchful adult present. I live alone now, but my new pool is fenced and cannot be seen unless I deliberately show it to someone.

So.....because some people disobey the laws regarding swimming pools, this is a reason to not have good laws regarding weapons??

Or do you suggest easing the laws regarding pools???

Plenty of them here in DC. Lots of people in their 20s, even a few in their 30s dress that way. As far as the "duh" look, I see that on people of all ages.

The gun stats mostly come from the FBI, which if they slanted the stats at all would overstate gun deaths. They're very pro-gun control, as are most police agencies.

Northern Ontario,
I was eight or nine years old when I had my first firearm....and my old man set three strict rules which I've always followed..
Keep your finger off the trigger unless you are going to shoot something,
Don't point the gun at anything, unless you intend to shoot it,
And the third one, which wouldn't apply to a cop......No loaded guns in the house.
