All I can say is Danny Williams must be rubbing his hands in glee. He may get his wish afterall....
I agree with limiting raises for civil servants but stopping public grants for political parties clearly indicates that Harper is trying to eliminate his opponents.
We all know that if public grants stop, the NDP, Liberals and the Bloc will go bankrupt. The conservatives accept funding from the private sector (rich businessmen and corporations) which goes agaisnt what Canadians believe. The goal in having public funded parties is to eliminate the grasp that the rich and corporations have on Canadian politics. If we didn't have the federal grants for parties, Canada would be like the US and that's something Canadians don't want.
Harper knows damn well that his party would be the only survivor and this goes to show Harper's hidden extreme right-wing agenda. He wants all the power for himself... This is dangerous and undemocratic.
Harpo tried this very thing to get rid of Paul Martin in 2004.
Turnabout is not fair play, according to Harpo

lol I just noticed your sig, Sir Joe. I disagree with Salvor Hardin. I think it is more realistic to say that violence is the FIRST refuge of the incompetent.
(Please excuse my interjection, folks)
People keep saying there will be another election, there won't the constitution states the opposition can for a government and who put the current govenor general into office, the Liberals. Goodbye Harper and the whining western reformers who hijacked the Tory party in the first place. It looks good on them.
I am from the west but I can't stand the western whining, GET RID of the Tories now they are like the locust, and need to be ousted
I have read countless posts on CBC from whining right-wing Western Canadians and all I can do is laugh.
The only part of your post i disagree with is this part...
I am a western canadian, a calgarian at that, and I am nor right winged or Whinny.... :angry3:
haha, I was mostly just giving you a hard time.
FYI Adriatik:
As of January 1, 2007, new rules for political contributions under the Canada Elections Act come into force:
Just thought you should know....
- You can make a political donation to registered political entities only if you are a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- You can give no more than $1,100* in each calendar year to each registered political party.
- You can give no more than $1,100* in total in any calendar year to the various entities of each registered political party (registered associations, nomination contestants and candidates).
- You can give no more than $1,100* to each independent candidate for a particular election.
- You can give no more than $1,100* in total to the leadership contestants in a particular leadership contest.
- You can no longer make a cash contribution of more than $20 to registered political entities.
- You cannot make a political contribution with money, property or services that were given to you for that purpose.
- Corporations, trade unions, associations and groups can no longer make political contributions. However, your employer can give you a paid leave of absence during an election period to allow you to be a nomination contestant or a candidate without that leave being considered a contribution.
- If you are running as a nomination contestant or a candidate, you can make an additional contribution up to $1,000 in total per election from your own funds to your own campaign. You can divide this amount between your nomination and candidate campaigns as you wish.
- If you are running as a party leadership contestant, you can make an additional contribution of up to $1,000 in total per contest from your own funds to your own campaign.
Y'know ... I really do not like being talked down to like I'm some sort of stupid kid in the clipped tones that arrogant needle-nosed prick spoke on the TV news. He deserves to be smacked....
Yeah....you don't really expect that any supporter of the NDP/Liberal/Bloc to know anything, did you?
The Conservatives depend on big corporate donations.
The separatists are no threat to Canada.
A 300 million dollar election is too expensive, but 30 billion for "stimulus" is needed.
Harper is Bush.
Bush is Satan.
The USA is Satan's realm.
Making the guy Canadians overwhelmingly rejected at the polls PM is democracy.
My question to these folks is simple: Exactly how much dope do you have to smoke to reach this level of self-delusion?
OHOH pick me I can answer the question. I can never smoke enough dope (whatever that is) to even approach your level of clinical delusion. You are a natural Colpy.

For crying out loud, Is dividing the country needed right now? Is losing the confidence of the House needed right now? How about using fear and lies to cheat, does Canada need this?? Dion as PM would only be temporary. If it takes Harper out of power, I'm all for it.. Whatever you say, rinse the soap out since you have been brainwashed..
And no there's no dope making me delusional if that had anything to do with what we were talking about.
