Does thsee headlines sound plausible?

China warming faster than global average

Temperature in Sweden rising faster than world’s average

Russia Is warming disproportionately fast, environment ministry says

Britain warming faster than average

IPCC: Europe has been warming faster than the global average

Why Singapore is heating up twice as fast as the rest of the world

Japan hot and getting hotter

At this rate spring is coming in 3 weeks.

Maybe they should go back and take another peek at the global average! :)

Cliffy, you’re posting the above. Is it talking about Coal (?) or is it talking about Oil??

I use to crush gravel here in SK for a couple of different outfits. We’d find coal seams by accident fairly regularly. Seriously. I’ve stumbled across them in a variety of locations across the southern third of the province...& we where trying to avoid them. We where making Little Rock’s, & trying not to turn the piles black.

We ran put of dino oil 75 years ago. It's all from diatoms these days and they are working hard to keep renewing the lipid patch.

Does anyone really and completely know the full purpose, cause and extent of Climate change? Maybe if we hang tight for a little longer, Mother Nature might provide some answers. Haven't we been in and out of these trends before?

What Climate Change?

So far the alleged 11,000 "Climate Scientists" declaring a :Climate Emergency" include Micky Mouse and the Harry Potter character Dumbledore.

Expect more vetted fictional names.

He's talking about oil or probably, more specifically, petrol. We will never run out of the need for oil but there are better alternatives to petrol. The world can get by quite nicely with about 1/20th of the oil being extracted. Plastics can be made from a number of plant oils. It is just stupid to continue screwing up our environment to make a few rich pricks richer. The are more jobs in alternative power than in the oil industry. With all the new tech coming on line, there should be no shortage of jobs if we can get Big Oil to let go of their strangle hold on our economy and our governments.

Again. Plant plastic is worse than petroleum. plastic.

Are you looking for work?

Biopolymers were among the more prolific polluters on the path to production, the LCA revealed. The team attributed this to agricultural fertilizers and pesticides, extensive land use for farming, and the intense chemical processing needed to convert plants into plastic. All four biopolymers were the largest contributors to ozone depletion. The two tested forms of sugar-derived polymer -- standard polylactic acid (PLA-G) and the type manufactured by Minnesota-based NatureWorks (PLA-NW), the most common sugar-based plastic in the United States -- exhibited the maximum contribution to eutrophication, which occurs when overfertilized bodies of water can no longer support life. One type of the corn-based polyhydroyalkanoate, PHA-G, topped the acidification category. In addition, biopolymers exceeded most of the petroleum-based polymers for ecotoxicity and carcinogen emissions

Jobs? Are you looking for work? Lol.
Guess what? So are US hemp growers.

“It’s heart-wrenching thinking about all the work and money you put into it,” said Maclure, who farms in Barton, Vermont, about 35 miles south of the U.S.-Canadian border. “I’m not sure I’m going to be venturing out in this again.”

Maclure is one of thousands of U.S. farmers who poured into the crop (Hemp) after the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized the cultivation of hemp, a form of cannabis with low concentrations of THC, the main psychoactive agent in marijuana.

Many of them are now trying to survive a glut that has flooded the market, market experts say, driving down prices and in some cases leaving farmers with few buyers.

About 65 percent of U.S. hemp farmers lack a buyer for their crop this season, leaving them few alternatives, according to a July survey by Whitney Economics. Hemp has less infrastructure than other crops, so farmers cannot rely on selling their crop to a local grain elevator.

“People entered in on speculation,” said Chase Hubbard, hemp commodities analyst at The Jacobsen, a price reporting agency. “The results could be tragic for some small farmers.”

Minus 45 degrees in October? An Arctic blast is breaking records across western and central US

"A wave of Arctic air has infiltrated the northern tier of the United States this week, shattering record lows, and threatening as many as 70 (other record lows) through Halloween," AccuWeather said.

Subzero cold was recorded as far south as the Grand Canyon on Wednesday morning, the Weather Channel said. Big Piney, Wyoming, plunged to minus 24 degrees before sunrise Wednesday.

Notorious cold spot Peter Sinks, Utah, dipped to an incredible minus 45 degrees early Wednesday. This appeared to be the coldest October temperature on record anywhere in the lower 48 states, according to Utah-based meteorologist Timothy Wright.

High temperatures Wednesday were forecast to be some 30 to 50 degrees below normal across Colorado, Texas and the central Plains, according to meteorologist Ryan Maue of BAM Weather.
