Ontario Provincial Police have charged a man they say was driving in excess of 160 km/h on Highway 401 while watching a movie.

Police say the man was pulled over around 7:30 p.m. in the Brockville area, which lies between Ottawa and Toronto on the busy highway. When he was pulled over for excessive speed, they discovered he’d jerry-rigged an in-car TV stand by taping an electronic device to his dashboard.

He is charged with distracted driving and stunt driving. His licence and vehicle were seized for one week.
Police did not release the driver’s identity — or what movie he was watching.

This isn’t the first time OPP officers have caught drivers in the middle of a flick. In November 2014, a Windsor truck driver was charged after another motorist reported seeing him watching a movie behind the wheel. He faced a $280 distracted driving fine.

Bullshjt... Even driving in my Tractor Trailer people are so stupid they run 2 feet from my bumper.. If I had to break fast, I fear the idiot behind may be killed or seriously hurt..

Of course the problem in Ontario is that it's a Liberal Government soft of crime..

I think Ontario needs to have the what Alberta has..

Speed past the above car sitting on the side of the road, they don't chase you, just send the registered owner of the vehicle a $325 fine.. or whatever based on your speed. No points and a higher fine.

Cops need to be more aggressive on the 401 and in the city limits..

I drive a lot on 400 level highways. Almost daily I see nimrods trying to cut off tractor trailers while passing on the right side. A common one is to see a transport driver signal a lane change (to exit, maybe?) and a moron or three will fill the lane that he needs and blocks his way. I suspect that the drivers who do that are only using their lower brains and surrendering territory like the Crown's tarmac is a CHALLENGE to their manhhoid. They sure never figure out that they have diuscoivere the shortcut to Valhallah.

We had an accident like that happen just before Christmas on the QEW at "our" exit. A couple of kids in dad's SUV got squished between two transports, one of them carrying a flammable cargo. Those poor kids burnt to death and it sure looks like they were cutting off a lane changing truck on the right. It is so commonly done, a kid wouldn't know that it is wrong to do so. Probably learned the trick from dad ...or mom. There was a second accident caused by the first, this one was survived by the idiot driver. Another 18 Wheeler van came screeching to a halt behind the fire, obviously so that he didn't add himself as fuel to the fire. Some dim bulb behind him rammed into the bumper on the truck, cutting the roof of his sh1tbox sedan clean off like the top off of a soft boiled egg. Unfoertunately, the Darwin Effect passed him by. I guess that he was trying to bulldoze the truck down the highway to make him "go faster" a half car length from the truck's bumper. So, who's fault is it when you hit someone from behind? Well, in moron land, It's the guy in front for "stopping too fast" (I really, for real, heard some guy say exactly that when he rear-ended a car that I was a passenger in.

Northern Ontario,

If you have ever been southbound through Mattawa on 17, you will recognize this railway underpass..
One year....2000 I believe I'm waiting with my fifth wheel travel trailer while some transport is stuck there because he's a few inches too high to get through.... I'm about fifth in line behind....and two hours later after trying a wrecker truck to pull him through without success they decide to try a road grader...Much stronger and in the end it worked ripping the top of the trailer right off.
Just before the end of the 4 hour wait, I get on the ole' CB and ask some of the truckers if anyone had thought of letting some air out of the tires of the truck and trailer to get him through without too much damage and all that wait?

You should have heard all the b itching I got for not saying anything sooner.....
Ain't my fault if I din't think of it before

An itsy bitsy spider left a tangled mess for a driver in Portland, Ore., on Wednesday.
The female driver was involved in a single-vehicle crash after the little eight-legged creature dropped down from her rearview mirror. The shock of seeing the spider caused her to roll the car into a small ditch, KATU reported.
The car was totaled, cops said, and the driver suffered a minor scratch on her hand.
The spider was not charged.

It ain't just Ontario, Quebec and Alberta, we have the same sh*t here in B.C. I've strongly suggest to the Premier here that the worst 15% of the drivers should be taken off the road period. I don't understand how it happens but as soon as you step into a cross walk, you automatically become invisible. Maybe the answer is to ban all vehicles for a year! :)
