On Wednesday, Zimmerman’s attorneys posted on their website that the defense fund now contains less than $5,000. In early January, the George Zimmerman Defense Fund had raised over $314,000 through an appeal on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter.
Why limit myself to an entire country? I assume on this forum I am addressing Canadians, but I'd just as soon tell all Americans to stop treating this murder trial like a political contest between Democrats and Republicans.
It must be why so many people KNOW what they can't possibly know. I think you've got to fall in one of those political camps to have decided this trial ahead of time.
Personally, this will be a show trial with lots of theatre and whatnot (they need a better comedian as the opening act). The jury will deliberate and hopefully come to a reasonable verdict based ONLY on the evidence presented and then deliver a verdict one way or the other. No matter what the verdict is, there will be considerable number of people who will rally or protest or riot because they feel the jury got it wrong. It won't be like OJ where a killer goes free to search golf courses for the mysterious real killer.
But does anybody actually believe this trial will in any way shape of form uncover the truth?

Two police dispatch phone calls that could prove to be important evidence for both sides were played for the jury by the defence. Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, left the courtroom before the second recording, which has the sound of the gunshot that killed Martin.

West is a lawyer, not a scientist. Improper crime scene procedures with respect to Martin's hands wouldn't have contaminated any evidence already on Zimmerman's weapon and holster. Unless the crime scene technicians washed Martin's hands with some organic solvents, it's inconceivable that there would be no DNA left behind if Zimmerman's side of the story is true. Twenty-four punches to the face after breaking a man's nose with a sucker punch is going to leave a lot of DNA on Martin. It would be in the fabric of Martin's clothes, and under his finger nails.
It's laughable nonsense that the DNA would have been washed away by the rain. If that were true, why I could just soak all my lab instruments in water. Heck, I could spray my equipment down with water and there would be no need for expensive disinfecting solutions.
Ridiculous! Can't wait to hear the expert testimony on how the rain washed away all of that DNA.
