Former U.S. president George W. Bush slams Trump’s ‘America first’ policy in scathing speech

WASHINGTON—Former U.S. president George W. Bush on Thursday delivered a scathing warning about Donald Trump, saying his “America first” philosophy portends a dangerous inward turn that is eroding democracy at home and threatening stability around the world.

“The health of the democratic spirit is at issue,” the 43rd president said during a speech in New York. “And the renewal of that spirit is the urgent task at hand.”

“Since World War II, America has encouraged and benefited from the global advance of the free markets, from the strength of democratic alliance and from the advance of free societies,” Bush said. “Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children.”

He also warned of the dangers of a worldwide pattern of countries — including some in Europe — “turning inward.” And though Bush did not refer to Trump by name during his remarks, his warning about the current U.S. chief executive was clear.

“America is not immune from these trends,” Bush said. “Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication.”

Several hours before Bush spoke, Trump delivered a conspiracy theory via a remarkable tweet in which he suggested Russian officials, the FBI and the Democratic Party worked together to create a dossier of potentially incriminating information about him during the 2016 presidential election.

......and he is correct on all counts.

Which only leaves one question; Would Clinton have been better......or worse?

And that is a very, very close call.

What is incredible is that the USA could not find any better candidates on either slate. Boggles the mind.

I know 12 year old kids that would have made better presidents than either candidate.

Spare me your racially motivated analysis, it's not a close call at all.

Clinton was objectively the better candidates on all counts.

Hillary Clinton Seizure, Fainting, Overheating, Pneumonia, Lying Doctors, Cover-Up, Conspiracy ...

The views of you two is also an indication of your own mental instability, not that there was ever any question.

The Clintons are the most corrupt political entities in the USA.

Bill Clinton (Slick Willy) removed a ban on the sale of computer technology useful in guidance systems in return for a $350,000 donation from the daughter of a General in the Army of the PRC.

Hillary Clinton engineered corporate control of masses of uranium mining to the Russians in return for massive donations to the Clinton Foundation, which is simply a front for collection of Clinton cash.

If there were justice in the world, they would both be stood against the nearest wall and shot.

I'm no fan of Moron Donald (Trudeau's flip side), but even he has not done anything close, that we know of, yet.

Probably adults acting like 12 years olds. You might want to read his followup post before you take him to be as big of a fan of Killary as you are.

GOP would have won by a landslide had true Republicans not abstained from the vote in hopes Trump would wise up and go away
The dead that voted for her more than made up the difference.

Did they find any WMDs in Iraq yet? How is the opium crop in Afghanistan doing this year? Another record?

SO, how is the fbi investigation into Hillary and obomba doing business with the Russians going?

The WMD's were found, Saddam made a long list and sent it to the UN. The UN gave it to the US so they could remove the list of chemicals that the US and France and the UK and Germany had sent them. It even made the news, once, on Friday at 3PM which is when everyone listens to it.

SO, how is the fbi investigation into Hillary and obomba doing business with the Russians going?
Better than the Clinton/Israel connection is going. Evidence is so hard to find when master criminals are at the helm.

We had half a dozen better. Kasich, Rubio, Webb, O'Malley, and others. Unfortunately, fools get to vote.

Should the media be able to ask questions to a 4 star general?
No.
That is reserved for the people that run for public office so the question (by media or voter) should be answered by the person that is the elected person from the person's own district. The reply should be given in less than an hour and the Q&A are on his website for all the voters to see.

All of a sudden the MSM loves Bush. What a bunch of hypocritical assholes.
They get paid to publish what they are handed, they don't get to even write their own questions.

There is no shortage of them, a process that is still in't healing stage.
I offered it as a solution to something that is not working as well as intended. Being workable was not part of the question. That part would be to raise their pay but demand they be honest to their employers or face treason charges that is a hanging offense and then the trial.
Just as unworkable but an easy solution that could be implemented but somebody has to have a rope around their neck or it isn't a hanging.

Are you confessing to being on meds??

Man! You know that Trump is REALLY BAD when he makes Dubya look like a wise, old elder statesman. George is now off the hook for being possibly the worst President that the United States has ever had, now that Trump has moved the bar so ... high? ... low?
