Man! You know that Trump is REALLY BAD when he makes Dubya look like a wise, old elder statesman. George is now off the hook for being possibly the worst President that the United States has ever had, now that Trump has moved the bar so ... high? ... low?

Bush was a fool in his time. Now he seems so wise.

Bill Clinton caught. Bill Clinton sought State’s permission to meet with Russian nuclear official during Obama uranium decision. He prepared to collect a $500,000 payday in Moscow in 2010

The "both Trump and Clinton are terrible" false equivalency was probably the single most important thing the Trump campaign accomplished.

Georgie Boy is probably quite grateful to Trump for taking him off the "worst president in history" list. Mind you until Trump starts a completely unnecessary war and presides over the near collapse of the US economy he is still at the top in my books.

Hard to say. Certainly helped by demoralizing the opposition. Otherwise President Drunkuncle's campaign was straight out of the Nazi playbook, 1930s.

Unhappy people are easily manipulated.

Former U.S. president George W. Bush slams Trump’s ‘America first’ policy in scathing speech

WASHINGTON—Former U.S. president George W. Bush on Thursday delivered a scathing warning about Donald Trump, saying his “America first” philosophy portends a dangerous inward turn that is eroding democracy at home and threatening stability around the world.

“The health of the democratic spirit is at issue,” the 43rd president said during a speech in New York. “And the renewal of that spirit is the urgent task at hand.”

“Since World War II, America has encouraged and benefited from the global advance of the free markets, from the strength of democratic alliance and from the advance of free societies,” Bush said. “Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children.”

He also warned of the dangers of a worldwide pattern of countries — including some in Europe — “turning inward.” And though Bush did not refer to Trump by name during his remarks, his warning about the current U.S. chief executive was clear.

“America is not immune from these trends,” Bush said. “Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication.”

Several hours before Bush spoke, Trump delivered a conspiracy theory via a remarkable tweet in which he suggested Russian officials, the FBI and the Democratic Party worked together to create a dossier of potentially incriminating information about him during the 2016 presidential election.

Did they find any WMDs in Iraq yet?
What do you mean, "yet"? They found them back in 2004-05. Or did you not hear about the 2000-2500 chemical warheads that were unearthed?
But you'd have likely found the rest of the stuff in Syria. An Iraqi Airforce general claimed that before the invasion, they stripped down five 737s, loaded them up with chemicals and apparatus and flew them to Syria under the guise of a humanitarian flight after an earthquake there.

And of course everyone knows that during the Iran-Iraq War, the US and Britain provided Iraq with chemical weapons capability and the technicians to train the Iraqis.

Yeah! Love the old "Let's pretend Condaleeza Rice was talking about chemical weapons when she said 'We don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud'" trick. It's sure to fool anybody with an IQ below 75!

Well who cares what George W. thinks. His Presidency was a monument to incompetence and failure. It was his lies that got the U.S. into Iraq as part of a regional strategy of 'regime change' and the installation of American style democracy in the Islamic world which was a fiasco of tragic proportions. It left a legacy of failed states, civil war, Islamic insurgencies and terrorism.. not to mention hundreds of thousands of dead including thousands of American soldiers.

His economic mismanagement led to the financial collapse of 2008. They are tribute to the free trade and financial deregulation that he and his predecessors imposed on America. Even amongst the uninterrupted litany of mediocrities that filled the Oval Office.. from Nixon to Obama.. in the Free Market era his administration stands out in its sheer deluded arrogance and ignorance.

There is a concerted effort now by NeoCons of the Republican Establishment (including McCain, Graham, Ryan, McConnell, Kasich) to wrest control of the Party from the nationalists and populists that have erupted in their midst. They spout the same old line of the promise of Free Trade and that America can compete against the subsistence wages of the 3rd World. And that some magical new ethereal technology or 'clean' energy will compensate for all the disintegration it has wreaked. And of America's 'moral' responsibility for the globe.

This at time when vast sweeps of former 'hard' industries lie rusting in a workplace dominated by low payed and transient retail and service jobs. Where the country's infrastructure erodes. Where an ever diminishing class of parasitic financiers and traders reap grotesque wealth, virtually untaxed, while the Middle Class falls into poverty and desperation. Something that will only get worse without remedial action.

So the fact that one of the worst Presidents in American history has deigned himself an elder statesman, with the wisdom of experience and age, should not detract from the fact that he was a complete goof... and Alfred E. Newman president.. smiling blandly and swaggering Texas style.. while Rome burned.
