Where did Trudeau have this lack of empathy at? When? Which fires? There's been a lot of them out there lately and I'd like to read up on the responses, so I'd like to know which ones to look for. In all seriousness.
Because if you're right, then this is another 'wrong' he's done to the list of wrong.

The one that burnt down 1/2 of Ft Mac.

The part where the rest of Canada falls flat on it's collective face is when the topic of Government Hospitals was introduced by JT and the Media and both political parties have been dead silent on the topic ever since. SNC is not even debated properly as the Cons are to blame for that law being in need of a change.
Something stinks in Canada and JT is too young to have installed any of it. That it is there means the old ones were the ones to allow that to happen and they also happen to be the ones who complain the loudest about one of the few people in a position to challenge it and then change it. This loco collecive would fight the changes only because it helps others rather than just the loco collective.

G-7 summit ends with little consensus amid Trump’s mixed messaging on the trade war

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...c=al_news__alert-world--alert-national&wpmk=1

and of course a few odd bits from trump that came out:

He thinks that hurricanes should be NUKED. ( the chaps in white jackets are no where around ;-)

He missed the meet up on climate change.

He is all over the map on his trade war with China.

T
He is promoting HIS property in Miami to be the host of the next G 7 meet up.

The same property that has not been doing all that well.

Conflict of interest is not even a factor for this self centred lunatic.

I got a kickmout of Trump saying that he "gave permission" to Macron to let him fly in the Iranian foreign minister. The Hillbillies in Bugtussle 'll eat it up: "May Prezeedent is the leader of the Free world and he runs all the stuff!" Is Macron fuming at Trump's arrogance or are they all pissing themselves laughing at Trump in France, right now?

One thing is for certain. He is totally incompetent at foreign affairs.

They are all pizzing themselves laughing....... and could probably hardly contain themselves while he was there. that is why noting of any significance was accomplished . Heck Trudeau's socks were a more" intellectual" conversation piece.

Imagine if you were at a conference and a bloke like Trump was there.......... Need I say more??

Ah.

Thank you.

Considering your dislike of Trudeau, I can see why you think what you said.

To your comment that he refused international assistance: he thanked those who offered for their generosity, but considering the help that came in from across Canada, there wasn't a need for it. I don't see what's wrong with that.

As for government spending on Syrians vs. the fire - that might have been true IF not for DFAA, which is federal government. In the end, the costs surpassed the meme that claimed 1.5 Billion was being spent on the refugees. That said, if you want to get down to specific donations and not all the 'side' stuff the feds also had to spend for it, I agree that only matching the Red Cross donations wasn't exactly kosher. IMO it should have been more.

For his not going to Fort Mac any sooner than 12 days after the fire - I think that was a smart move. Considering all that goes into a PM's visit, PLUS the chaos going on there at the time, why would he go out when there's still things going on? What could he, personally, do once there? Nothing except be in the way, and he knew it, he even said as much. Harper got drug through the ringer for that in BC. If he hadn't gone out at all, then yes, complain and berate, but by letting things settle down first, I think it showed he was thinking of the locals, first, and not of the 'photo op' as likely would have been claimed had he gone out there only a few days after things happened.

Photo Ops for Pride parades (which I really wish would just stop) and with refugees are part of being in politics, but again, had he gone out for the photo ops at Fort Mac, he would have been roasted for it.

Do I think Trudeau is perfect? **** no. Do I think he's a good leader? Again, **** no. So don't take this to be some sort of defense of how good a PM he is. He's got too many issues that I don't like for me to think he is a good PM.

You don't think he responded appropriately to the fires, okay, that's your opinion. But from what I've read, except for sending out more money directly from the federal government, everything else he did right or at least he tried to do right.

Why are you pissing on me I only answered your question, I never said anything about refusing international fire fighters.
However during the rebuild he did a lot of things to make it more difficult and expensive to return, cleanup and rebuild under environmental conditions like the US gyprock tariffs so the contractors would buy from Quebec, disposal of debris which had to be hauled hundreds of miles at great costs, etc. There are many houses not rebuilt yet caught up in limbo between Gov. enviro conditions, Gov. grants, banks, and insurance companies.

On the refusal of international fire fighters I somewhat agree, Canada has reciprocal agreements in place with some international countries for fire fighting. Some countries were offering their firefighters at price gouging rates, and even a scandal broke out due to it. Remember the South African fire fighters that went on strike when they learned the difference between how much Canada was paying our own firefighters, and what they were paying the SA Gov. for their services and what they were receiving by their Gov. for pay.

Spring is coming and so are rains. 3 months from now the burned out areas will have exploded with life thanks to the nutrients in the biochar.

Why cry about it?

You're assuming you know the exact location of the fire. The Amazon is some pretty damn thick brush. Simply getting firefighters to the scene could be next to impossible. And water bombers while very helpful, only serve to assist the ground troops, you can't water bomb a wildfire out of existence.

Going to need an awful lot of water bombers to make any difference whatsoever.

Brazil doesn't want the aid, and looks like he outright rejects all the hypocritical virtue signalling.

Brazil Will Reject G7’s $22 Million Amazon Fire Aid

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s chief of staff told Globo. “We appreciate it, but maybe these resources would be put to better use reforesting Europe. [French President Emmanuel] Macron can’t even prevent a foreseeable fire in a church that is a world heritage site,” Onyx Lorenzoni said. “What does he want to teach our country? He has plenty to take care of at home and in the French colonies.” Lorenzoni also said Macron's “objective” might be “colonialism and imperialism.”

Apparently fires happen every year in the amazon area, as do the pictures of fires on social media.

Fake Amazon rain forest fire photos are misinforming on social media

One such photo — one of the most-shared photos on social media — shows a lush forest with a massive wall of smoke billowing from a fire.

Musical artist and actor Jaden Smith shared the image on his Instagram, where it garnered over a million likes. YouTube celebrity Logan Paul shared the image on Twitter, too.

Yes, the image shows the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. But it’s not of the current fires. It’s more than 20 years old: the Guardian, which republished the photo in 2007, says it was taken in June 1989.

Stop Sharing Those Viral Photos of the Amazon Burning
The Amazon is on fire, but the photos you’re seeing on social media don’t show it.

Update, 1:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23: Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, included one of the misleading viral photos in a tweet Thursday. It has been retweeted more than 40,000 times and was embedded in a New York Times article about the fire. We learned since originally publishing that the photo was taken by Loren McIntyre, who died in 2003.

Oh look, he totally cliffied. Gee, we can't trust the left for anything can we? I wonder how many of his buddy Trudeau's selfies are fake too?
