Doug Ford fires privatization czar, chief investment officer, chief scientist
Premier Doug Ford has quietly fired Ontario’s chief investment officer, chief scientist, and removed Ed Clark as the premier’s business advisor in a post-election purge.
Sources told the Star that Ford’s newly elected Progressive Conservative government ended Allan O’Dette’s brief tenure as the province’s first chief investment officer at cabinet on Friday.
O’Dette, former president and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, had been appointed by former Liberal premier Kathleen Wynne in March 2017 to lead the Ontario Investment Office.
Also gone is chief scientist Molly Shoichet, a prominent University of Toronto professor named to her post last November by Wynne.
But the most prominent departure approved by cabinet was Clark, who had been Wynne’s business advisor and privatization czar since June 2015.
The former president and CEO of TD Bank, who was appointed chair of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario in January, was an instrumental player in the Liberal government.
Clark was a key proponent of the sale of the province’s majority stake in its Hydro One transmission utility as well as the architect of Ontario’s historic expansion of beer and wine sales into 450 supermarkets.
He also was a top booster of bringing Amazon’s HQ2 bid to the province and served as Wynne’s advisor on preserving jobs in the Ontario steel industry.
While Ford had promised during the June 7 election campaign that “not one” public-sector job would be cut if he took office, such changes are routine when a new government takes office.
It is not clear who, if anyone, will be selected to replace the three Liberal appointees.

Trudeau won 44.8% of the Ontario vote in the last federal election. In the recent provincial election, Doug Ford won with 40% of the vote while the Liberals were banished to the realm of irrelevance. Trudeau's Liberals have the stink of the McWynnty Liberals all over them and the 40% of Ontarians who voted for Ford know it.
Trudeau would do well to not play stupid games with Ontario or else he will find himself relying pretty much on Quebec to get re-elected, but he's quickly losing his shine there too. And I have grave doubts he'll find the votes he needs in the West or the Maritimes either.
Yes in his bid to be all inclusive and be everything to everybody is is alienating everyone . Good plan .

I have some comments to make about federal Climate change initiatives and my comments appear in brackets beside quotes from our federal minister of carbon bullshit. And I am amazed how delusional LIE-berals are-and how much crap they expect US to swallow when it comes to climate issues? I am amazed that otherwise intelligent people will not laugh crap like this out of parliament! We are told this):
Federal Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna has revealed the Liberal government’s targets for reducing Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions.
In saying that the Stephen Harper government’s targets are the “floor”, or minimum of what the Liberals will achieve, we now know the Liberal target is to reduce Canada’s emissions to at least 30% below 2005 levels by 2030.
From there, it’s easy to do the math.
Canada’s emissions in 2005 were 749 megatonnes and a megatonne, or Mt, is 1 million tonnes of industrial greenhouse gases.
A 30% reduction from 2005 would reduce our annual emissions to 524 Mt by 2030.
Given that Canada's current emissions are about 726 Mt annually, this means the Liberals want to reduce them, at a minimum, by 202 Mt annually by 2030.
(Yes-LIE-berals seriously PRETEND that they can shut down 30 percent of the Cdn economy in a few years without serious repercussions!)
To achieve this, the Liberals will have to shut down the equivalent of Canada’s entire oil and gas industry, which produces 179 Mt of emissions annually, within 15 years, plus find another 23 Mt of annual reductions in areas such as transportation, electricity and agriculture.
Given current emissions of 726 Mt annually, this means the Liberals intend to reduce our emissions, at a minimum, by 104 Mt annually by 2020.
So-104 MT gone by 2020 and another 100 MT in reductions between 2020 and 2030 to give the approximate 202 MT total.
To achieve this, the Liberals will have to shut down the equivalent of 58% of Canada’s oil and gas sector within five years-with the rest killed off in the next 10 years.
(LIE-berals have been spouting environmental garbage for years. Jean Chretien started the environmental manure spreader working with his Kyoto blather.)
Chretien pledged to reduce Canada’s emissions to an average of 6% below 1990 levels from 2008 to 2012, under the Kyoto accord.
That meant the Liberal target was an annual average of 576 Mt of emissions in the five years between 2008 and 2012.
When the Liberals lost power in 2006, Canada’s annual emissions were 740 Mt, or 164 Mt over Chretien’s Kyoto pledge.
(So much for LIE-beral plans-our carbon foot print ACTUALLY INCREASED by roughly the amount LIE-berals hoped to shrink it!)
To meet the Liberal target coming into office, Harper would have had to shut down the equivalent of almost all of Canada’s transportation sector (170 Mt) within two years, because the reductions required to achieve Chretien’s target of an average 6% reduction between 2008 and 2012 would have increased every year until 2012.
(Given current energy technology, the only way Trudeau could achieve the Liberal target would be to waste billions of taxpayer dollars buying fraud-ridden international carbon credits.)
(And its this international carbon credit scam that LIE-berals REALLY want to introduce-it’s a way of beating money out of the hides of Cdns and creating a HUGE LIE-beral slush fund and making tax ROBBERY LOOK virtuous because its for the environment-so they will say! Much of the cash raised will be sent overseas as foreign aid to messed up dictators in third world countries courtesy of our hard core socialist prime minster Justin Trudope who has inherited his fathers hatred for western democracy. Our PET-Pierre has been exposed as a hardcore communist who wanted to build a socialist utopia in Canada and his sons have inherited this mad dream.)

Driver accused of killing Colts' Jackson living in U.S. illegally 14/18

The man accused of hitting and killing Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson on Sunday didn't have a driver's license and has been living in the U.S. illegally, Indiana State Police announced in a statement Monday, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.
The statement said Manuel Orrego-Savala, who police claim was driving while intoxicated at the time of the accident, was using the alias Alex Cabrera Gonsales, and had previously been deported in 2007 and again in 2009.
(Being in the country illegally would certainly make it hard to get ANY sort of documents such as drivers license and of course illegals often do not have a lot of money and so vehicle registration and INSURANCE would be disposable extras! One might think that a guy who is in the country illegally would walk softly and not stir up attention getting waves- but clearly this is NOT thinking illegals often employ! The guy was a drunken idiot who is now accused of killing some guy. Clearly- the previous TWO deportation orders did NOT scare the guy into better and more discreet behaviour!
Police said the accident occurred when Orrego-Savala drove onto the emergency shoulder of the interstate and struck both Jackson and another man, Jeffrey Monroe, after Monroe exited his vehicle to tend to Jackson, who was sick.
Orrego-Savala was arrested after trying to flee the scene on foot, according to police. He's being held in county jail while authorities work with federal immigration officers.
(Anybody want to tally up what it cost to round up and deport this guy in his previous two intrusions to the country? And who wants to count up the legal cost to try this clown to determine if he is guilty of manslaughter or some such crime? And how has he been supporting himself- selling drugs? When Alberta’s NDP government introduced its carbon dioxide emissions tax, one of the ministers’ oft-repeated claims was that if they didn’t impose a “made in Alberta” carbon tax, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would impose his own Ottawa-concocted carbon tax, leaving taxpayers worse off.
More than a year later, New Brunswick is challenging that “we have no choice” assertion. Premier Brian Gallant’s government announced that instead of introducing a new carbon tax, they are re-branding a portion of their current gasoline tax as a carbon tax and redirecting cash from the existing tax into a fund to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
(After all- a gas tax is nothing more than a carbon tax with a different name- both are simply taxes on users of carbon fuel! UNLESS you are a LIE-beral desperate to buy votes so you can cling to power at any price- or a civil service Hog greedy for more gravy- at that point a carbon tax is nothing but another “revenue tool” designed by LIE-berals to ensure that the gravy train ENTITLEMENTS keep flowing to LIE-beral pals!)
Critics of the New Brunswick government’s plan are sceptical. Redirecting existing funds means less money for general revenues, and seldom do taxpayers see governments do more with less. Piling the money into a green fund can easily become a money pit of black hole proportions (see: Ontario).
(It may be that Our idiot Boy- notorious for his lack of interest in news media- has been informed by his advisors that Cdns are wise to the LIE-beral carbon crap and trade scam that only cleans out wallets and leaves the dirt in the air! Cdns are aware of the disgraced European carbon crap that is riddled with fraud and corruption that is providing nice profits to organized crime!)
But while federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna directed some disapproving comments at New Brunswick – and repeated that Ottawa will impose the federal price on any jurisdiction that doesn’t apply it – to date it’s all talk.
With N.B. voters going to the polls next year, is Trudeau likely to push an unpopular carbon tax on would-be Liberal voters, threatening Gallant’s Liberal government?

Voters know they’re already paying carbon taxes by another name anyway. Carbon tax proponents insist that increasing the cost of carbon (on things like gasoline) will encourage people to use less of it.
Gas taxes have gone up.
Before the NDP came into office, Alberta’s gas tax was increased by four cents to 13 cents per litre, without a carbon tax. New Brunswick’s gas tax is already a weighty 15.5 cents per litre – more than 50% higher than the 10-cent federal excise tax.
If you want high taxes on people driving their kids to school and moving groceries from farms to shops, you’ve already got it.
In Alberta, the environment minister continues to scoff at scrapping the tax, which Conservative Party leader Jason Kenney vows he’ll do. The minister maintains that Ottawa would have acted if Alberta hadn’t introduced its own new tax (never mind that Alberta’s was imposed earlier and at a higher rate than the federal diktat). But the list of provinces challenging that in one way or another is growing.
If Justin Trudeau is bluffing, several premiers are now calling it.
Manitoba’s government challenged Trudeau’s declaration by imposing a carbon tax at half the federal price. A carbon tax was noticeably absent in Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall’s climate change strategy.
New Brunswick’s plan employs political wordplay. Saskatchewan’s strategy of simply saying “no” is much clearer. For any government that sees the value in affordable energy, the only fair solution is no carbon tax at all.
(LIE-berals are well aware that we need affordable energy- its hard to run a snow plow or a farm tractor or a commuter train without energy! Its hard to heat a house or light a workshop or a store if you are carbon taxed to death. LIE-berals also know that travelling in airplanes is the dirtiest- most fuel inefficient way to go- and that LIE-beral friends and badly needed ALLIES fly frequently- so LIE-berals would rather carbon tax/harass the waitress who drives home from her late shift- because she does not feel safe on public transit that LIE-berals want her to use in spite of her fears that are thanks to LIE-beral hug a thug judges who practice “catch and release” of dangerous criminals!)
(LIE-berals know that the riding lawn mowers used by Sunshine List Hogs to maintain their fine estates spew more carbon in 5 minutes than a car on the highway for half an hour! LIE-berals want us to conserve fossil fuel but cannot bring themselves to go after the civil service Hogs who just happen to have the biggest carbon foot prints in Ontari-owe- because it might lose LIE-berals some votes! And LIE-berals spin in circles- hoping to tax the waitress and others like her so she will overcome her fears and ride the bus- but in order to cool her anger and frustration- they give her that nice minimum wage increase- so she WILL have enough money to keep driving after all! And LIE-berals will ruin ouir already over taxed economy withb that carbon tax crap and will use the money to BUY civil service Hog votes- so the Hogs can continue spewing their major carbon footprint! Do LIE-berals have ANY logical long term plan for ANYTHING?)
But New Brunswick’s plan has illustrated once again that despite Trudeau’s declarations, the provinces have their own priorities and, importantly, their own taxpayers to answer to. That’s a wake-up call for carbon tax enthusiasts as well as Alberta’s NDP ministers still clinging to the defence that Ottawa will drop a carbon tax on the province like a lump of coal in their stockings.
(NDP`ers like the carbon tax for the same reasons LIE-berals do- for its slush fund generating potential! With the added bonus that govt can claim the moral high ground by claiming the carbon crap and trade tax is good for the environment! Its FAKE NEWS but loonie leftists do not care! Extremist environmentalists- that LIE-berals pander to in order to win votes away from NDP and Greens- do not care what happens to our economy- their dedication to Mother Earth supercedes any logic or common sense and they would be quite happy to see us living in wigwams and eating our meal of Dandelion greens raw because wood is sacred and not for building or cooking!)
It’s a political game of chicken.
In the meantime, Alberta taxpayers have been paying the carbon tax for a full year, increasing by a further 50% on January 1 as a New Year treat.
Wearing thin is the insistence from the NDP government, and carbon tax proponents across Canada, that there was no other way this could have played out.
