American Stinker would be more appropriate. It is too bad that people are to stupid to regulate their own lives. It is unfortunate that their government believes it needs to regulate sanity. It is also too bad that the right wing thinks that being stupid is a right and freedom.

What a ridiculous bastardization. I wish someone would drive home to the numerous politicos I see throwing around comparisons to Naziism, just WHAT the Holocaust meant. How childish.

And the left is the only ones with intelligence?????? a bit condescending Non?

You know what guys, whether this kind of BS supports your opinion or not, it is time for people to stand up and say 'ENOUGH!!' Demand better of political commentary, no matter what side it is on, than this childish tripe.

Did I say all right wingers were stupid? No. But the author certainly seems to think so, along with his supporters. The American Stinker is decidedly one sided, one dimensional in its Stinking. Just providing a second dimension. Although I think politics is a joke, the right seem to provide the most material for laughs.

Of course, lacking valid arguments, the Left, predictably resorts to tepid puns and name-calling.

And then demean people for not "regulating their own lives", while they would deny an individual the chance to do so, unless, of course that individual would opt to be a greenie and live in the bushes while using electricity and computers. And let us not forget the Left Wing's contention (at least based on the above post) is that anyone who don't follow their ideas are stupid and insane. The Left, again, based on Cliffy's post think that anyone who don't agree with them have no right to express their opinion, or if they do they are stupid.

Of course it is far easier to be obstinate than reading a post and reply in a responsible, adult manner.

It is unfortunate that the left wingers are so without merit as to be difficult to find humour in. The right, on the other hand, are loud and obnoxious and leave themselves open to ridicule. I did say it is unfortunate that the government finds it necessary to regulate sanity. Of course, I do agree with one thing, people should have the right to screw up the planet for future generations - I just think it is stupid to do so.
Not everything is black and right, Jack. There are gray areas, like no political affiliations does not make one a lefty, just like not believing in religion does not make one an atheist.

Umm... Actually, platitude would be more apt to describe your posts, YJ, lol

A platitude is a trite, meaningless, biased, or prosaic statement that is presented as if it were significant and original. The word derives from plat, the French word for "flat." Whether any given statement is considered to have meaning is highly subjective, so platitude is often—but not always—used as a pejorative term to describe seemingly profound statements that a certain person views as unoriginal or shallow. An example of a platitude could be "go with the flow" or "a rule is a rule."

The current version, as Karrie points out, is ludicrous.

These days, there is always someone with a blog, or a reporter willing to weave a narrative available to speak up for others.

The slippery slope is even more ludicrous. Nazis were taking people away, never to be seen again. They were not passing laws to conserve energy, or attempting to address public health concerns. The partisan comparisons of everything to Nazi Germany are frequently lacking context, and this one is no different.

Rubbish journalism.

First "They" Came .. By Martin Niemöller

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

Terror suspect held at CIA secret prison gets victim status in Polish probe

By Adam Goldman (CP) – Oct 27, 2010

WARSAW, Poland — Ten years ago this month, al-Qaida terrorists drove an explosives-laden boat into the USS Cole Navy destroyer as it was refuelling in Yemen, killing American 17 soldiers. But the man suspected of engineering that attack still hasn't been brought to trial.

Polish prosecutors are looking at him as a victim as they investigate a now-shuttered secret CIA prison that operated in Poland where he was subjected to harsh interrogation techniques, according to former U.S. intelligence officials and publicly available documents.

The chief prosecutor in the case, Jerzy Mierzewski, said Wednesday that Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri has received the status of victim, a move that allows the detainee's lawyers to participate in the larger investigation by reviewing evidence and calling witnesses.

Just as significantly, legal experts said the move shows that Polish investigators recognize the validity of al-Nashiri's claims, a boost to his cause that comes as U.S. courts have refused to allow cases involving rendition to move forward for national security reasons.

"The prosecutor has clearly recognized the seriousness of al-Nashiri's claims, and we hope he will continue to press forward with this investigation," said Amrit Singh, senior legal officer with the Open Society Justice Initiative. "The individuals responsible for the torture and abuse endured by rendition victims on Polish soil must be held accountable."

Polish officials in power when the prison was in operation, early in the presidency George W. Bush, still deny its existence, but al-Nashiri's victim status weakens their position — and it raises the prospect that some of them could eventually be charged with abuse of power.

The investigation in Warsaw was launched by the Polish government two years ago in reaction to massive pressure from the European Union and the Council of Europe, a human rights group. Both organizations have said that evidence points to the complicity of Poland as well as Romania in the clandestine U.S. program, and they have urged both ex-communist nations to clarify their roles.
How much energy did they save?
