In order to prove Muslims have a higher rate of domestic violence, you'd have to compare them to non-Muslim countries.
Don't hold me to a higher standard than you hold yourself.

I said, it's legal in Islamic countries. You said BS. I proved you wrong. Stop shuffling the goaposts.

However, this thread's purpose is to promote irrational hate and fear of Muslims.
Like all your threads on Israel, meant only to demonize Jews and Israel.

The point of referencing the most extreme and botched examples of female circumcision and then portraying it as related to Islam is to demonize Muslims.
You mean just like how you demonize Jews. Gotchya.

While most people who practice this behavior are Muslims, the behavior follows cultural boundaries, not religious ones.
Good of you to admit that.

BTW: Excellent dodge on admitting you were wrong.

Actually CB, I wasn't aware that honor killing was legal anywhere until I researched it. So yes you are right that its legal or tolerated in a few Muslim countries. Its also legal or tolerated in a few non-Muslim countries... Religion seems unrelated to the level of tolerance. It more has to do with country's level of machismo.

Are you aware that killing takes place even when it is against the law?

Let me help you settle this in your own mind rather than going through all the polls and well researched (and sometimes not) and boil it down to you take the two in conflict and try to read one informed article from the POV of each side and then you decide which side you would want with you on a dark night in a very dark alley in the wrong part of town. The various labels all fall down and 'you' and 'not you' becomes the whole identity issue.

But you have to admit that male circumcision is, by definition, genital mutilation.

If I'm not mistaken, FGM involves cutting, if not completely removing, the clitoris. So, unless circumcission involves removing the entire head of the penis, there really is no comparison betweein it and FGM. It's silly to try to equate the two.

Fixed that for you.

Yes, I already knew that. I rarely if ever get involved in conversations I know very little about.

You should try it sometimes. Ya I know, it's kind of lazy, but that's how I roll.

It has more to do with culture and cultures that promote misogyny. Like Islam, which is more than just a religion, it's a culture.

But that won't stop them from trying.

Foreskin is part of the genitals.

Circumcision means removing foreskin.

For those who have trouble with comprehension, that makes it genital mutilation.

You can argue the degree of it, but the fact remains that it is genital mutilation, but some in our society excuse it because it is common.

Unless you can prove that foreskin isn't part of the genitals. Good luck with that.

Northern Ontario,
Don't be such a nit picker...the worst thing to cry about loss of forskin, is that you loose the ability to play with yourself without a good lubricant....

I don't see anyone arguing that.

What I do see, are people mocking those who try and compare it to FGM. As has been pointed out, unless the head is removed, beyond a label, it's not even remotely similar.

Well, sure it is. So's a Prince Albert. And I like corn flakes. So what?

True, but also because it's not debilitating. Degree is everything. Would you rather have a haircut or a beheading? :)

Kuwait death penalty law for blasphemy

The Kuwaiti parliament yesterday passed a draft bill toughening the penalty against blasphemy to death, the state news agency reported. The parliament approved the draft by a majority of 40 lawmakers, with six opposing, according to the agency. Blasphemy was previously an offence punishable by jail in the Gulf country. Under the amended bill, any Muslim found guilty of insulting God, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) or his wives, will be punished by death, said the agency. For non-Muslims, the offence will be punished by a maximum 10-year prison sentence, according to the report. The amendment has yet to be ratified by the country’s emir, Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah.

Actually the foreskin does provide physiological functions, so it`s more than "just a piece of skin".

No one has argued that. I will go so far as to say circumcision is a form of mutilation.

Hardly on the scale of removing the clitoris and labia.
I think that'd be a subjective opinion. Like the clitoris "The human foreskin is highly innervated, and vascularized sensitive erogenous tissue. ........... Removal of the foreskin (circumcision) interferes with normal sexual function."

So ask any circumcised man, if he'd mind having the head of his penis removed, since he's already lost his foreskin anyway. I think your responses will be unanimous.

Subjective. But unanimous.

I highly doubt comparing decreased sensitivity, with the absolute removal of, is subjective.

Um, removal of the foreskin is a removal. I agree that the two serve different purposes, but I doubt you are any more of a medical expert than I am that you can say just which one is a scalar "worst". :)
