If you haven't loved among them in their homeland environment then you would find it hard to believe just how much hatred there is among these peoples. In a religious sense the Shiites hate the Sunni's. Both hate the Christians or the Buddhists. The borders of the sectarian neighborhoods are an armed camp. No one from and opposing religious dares to venture into the other sides neighborhood for fear of execution.Women's rights? That too is a very foreign term. And now there are in the North American continent demanding that the governments recognize their rights to enforce the Sharia laws? Not in my back yard. If they don't like it here they can go back to their country of origin!

Christ is lord and master. Does that not mean the Christians must submit to and obey their master? How is that different from Muslims submitting? How many Christians do not throw (metaphorical) stones at those they think are breaking Christian law? Sometimes the emotional and psychological damage is worse than the physical.

Man I don't know about you, but I'd rather get hit with a metaphorical stone than a real one. LOL

The capacity for denial amongst the apologists is beyond belief.

This is NOT a joke. The blood libel has been printed in newspapers in the Arab world as fact repeatedly.

And not only the Hezbollah paper, but papers in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and even the government newspaper in Egypt.

Care to post a link to where I denied blood libel? Before you call me an apologist, get your facts in order Colpy. I detest hate mongering by everyone.

I wouldn't feel too bad, the guy just paid 20x more than the waitress did for a meal and she most likely pays no tax on the $1.33

Funny language, different clothes, food that is different and smells strong, a weird and exotic religion, strong inter-community networking, and they are taking our jobs and properties. What are we going to do about these.....these heathens?

We need new camps Spade. It's the only way we can protect ourselves from these people. Next thing you know their food and customs will be a huge part of what makes Canada unique and God forbid one of their off-spring writes the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Your point is not lost on me, but I'm not seeing a correlation between the historic mistreatment of immigrants, and Colpy's posts.

Maybe you could shed some light on that.

The denigration of an entire group of people based on the actions of some of those people. That, as Petros indicates, is not unknown in Canada.

The unfair characterization of the whole.
Holy crap, I see that all over the board, from Natives to Israelis. But there seems to be more angst caused by any display of the reality that is Islam, than the former.

Can you explain how that imbalance is fair?

We already have one thanks. Other than some minor tweeks, I see no need to allow any religious group rewrite it.

I never knew I was singling Colpy out by making generalized statements on Canadian history.

I know we have one. I'm a cousin of the guy that wrote it.

Snazzy looking avatar there, Petros, but I don't see any head cheese in it!

Then maybe you would like to put your post in perspective?

Ya, I got that point. But how does that relate to the information being related in these threads?

As much as I would love to see a reasoned correlation between Ukrainians and Islam. I just can't.

One's a nationality, the derogatory rhetoric of which was highly speculative at best, outright lies at worst. The other is a religion, with a documented history of mid evil violence and thinking, where the religion seems incapable of participating in a country, secularly.

While the baseless speculation of the woes of Ukrainian immigration, never materialized. The informed prediction of what would happen with Islamic immigration has.

Shall we compare facts?

xen·o·pho·bi·a

an
unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which
is foreign or strange.
The evidence, makes any speculation reasonable, and it's more likely intelligent to assess all possible outcomes. As apposed to simply calling it fear and labeling anyone that sees the potential down side, as a xenophobe.

There are plenty of paralells.. We brought our own "different" religion too ya know.

the woes of Ukrainian immigration, never materialized
Oh they materialized all right but once the fears subsided the things everyone feared were (almost I know of one you don't like) overwhelmingly accepted as good things.
