Washington Post.....Editorial... lol

Well look at the term "to grueber", as in the way they lied to the peeps to get Obama care passed, and then ADMITTED it!
Since then the average age of mortality in the US has dropped two years in a row.
;)
Eugenics is a funny thing - a little fake news helps Ol' Eugene get sh!t done under the radar.

So when has the reason the US has gone to war against anyone NOT been fake news?

The MSM did it to themselves and NOT just the likes of FOX News, CNN and CNBC. Remember Y2K? Yep, I first heard about it in the very early '90s. There was some media mention of it back then and basically the issue was computers using a 2 digit year code. The potential issue dealt with things like Old Age Pensions and other date sensitive stuff. For example, if you born in 1920 the computer system kicking out your cheque would see your year of birth as 20. When the millenium rolled over the question was whether the computer systems would read 00 as 1900 or 2000, and if they did read it as 00 would the system automatically print out your cheques? Fast forward a few years and the story got wilder until we were at the point were entire power grids would fail, airliners would fall out of the sky and perhaps most laughingly, nukes could possibly even self-launch. All spewed out by the various news outlets causing actual f*cking panic over it. The news media knew goddam well what the issue really was, had even reported on it and yet were willing to help spread the fear through lies, or if you prefer, super-hyped up potential scenarios that had no chance of happening.

Now, news media had known before all that, that they could manipulate the public to some degree or another. But Y2K showed them they could not just outright blatantly lie to our faces, but do so on a near global level and a f*ck load of people would buy right into it. That's when they learned that there are a LOT people who will believe whatever they're told by the MSM no matter how outrageous.

Then all one has to do is understand that 80% of the people working in news media are Liberals and farther left. That isn't opinion, it's fact. And what happens is when you have a group of like minded people working at the same news outlet, they have a tendency to show news they're interested in when politics is involved. That's what is referred to as an inherent bias. That doesn't necessarily mean they're using manipulation and spin. The manipulation is when news outlets start completely ignoring anything good that's done by those they politically oppose while also ignoring anything negative about those they support. There's a difference between inherent bias and outright partisanship. Spin doctoring is also part of that manipulation. The idea is to use just enough facts to make it tru-ish enough to sound believable but altering what was really said or done. Like Trump's "muslim travel ban" that inexplicably allowed the citizens of 45 of 50 muslim majority countries to still travel freely to and from the US despite the leftist MSM insisting it was a muslim travel ban. That bit of spin doctoring helped to punctuate the propaganda about Trump being a racist as well.

Long before Y2K the news media learned sensationalism sells papers. With Y2K they learned they can manipulate hundreds of millions of people if not a few billion with sensationalism. With politics, they're now using sensationalism to sell an ideology (along with subscriptions to their news services).

What the media missed in 1999/2000 is that from the mid-90s onwards people were updating their computer software to add those 2 bytes or to add interpretive logic for 2 bytes so the system would not crash on 2000/01/01. By the time Y2K came about, the story was done.

The media didn't miss that. It was them who gave impetus to it with their fear mongering. In this case they were working with the computer industry There was a HUGE jump in computer sales from the mid-90's and on. There was also a LOT of computer advertising in the papers. a quid pro quo if you will. Hell, that was the first time I ever encountered a newspaper ad that was posing as an actual new story.

In the late 90s if you were a COBOL programmer you could name your price. Thousands of lines of code were changed in ancient systems in languates that most new programmers had never learned. I think the media overblew it and it probably wouldn't have affected the general public but there was a y2k issue and it was dealt with (with or without the media).

Well I do believe that the MSM do spew misinformation more often than not and when the facts come to light you NEVER get an apology or a "correction". An excellent example is what happened in Charlotte NC when, according to the MSM Trump said that all the people were good people when he prefaced it with the fact that there were people there who were not so nice. The MSM completely ignored what he said PRIOR to saying that there were good people on both sides.

Then there was the Russia collusion - categorically incorrect, not proven & it ended up being the Democrats who were in collusion with Russia & the Ukraine. Even though this has been proven, it's still part of the Leftist narrative despite the facts that were brought out in the open. Even Biden was caught on tape talking about virtually blackmailing Ukraine to fire a Prosecutor who was looking into corruption. No consequence there. So ya, I'm afraid I take what I watch on T.V. with a "grain of salt". What they tell us and what actually happens aren't always the same.

I think the occupation of being a "Journalist" has been totally corrupted which is truly unfortunate in a democratic society. The fact that, for the most part, they support 1 party over the other, that they are part of the propaganda & opinionists, are a serious issue. They're not "reporters" they're "pundits" posing as reporters. Thankfully, there are independent media out there (for now anyway - I'm sure under a Biden Administration they'll do everything they can to "cancel" those who don't agree with the Left narrative) for people to watch & read and form their OWN opinion about what is happening out there. Unfortunately, getting to the truth of the matter is becoming more and more difficult.

What happened to reporting on facts?

Trump is an excellent President (which surprised me) but his biggest downfall were those damn tweets!! But I would prefer to acknowledge "action" rather than words - something that the Democrats are crappy at doing.

Northern Ontario,
Gone are the days of Walter Cronkite and Peter Jennings, News men who didn't insert their opinions into the news unless they stated that it was an opinion!

Now you have Rachel Maddow on one side and Sean Hannity on the other, who deal in half truths and innuendos.
And you need a good bullshite filter when you listen to them

IMO it's getting to the point that either ALL news is Fake or ALL news is real.

Because both "sides" claim the other side is Fake, how do you know what's real? If it's not fake, then it's all got to be real?

There doesn't seem to be any agreement - or there's very little - that either side can be right AND wrong in the news they post.

I've seen reports get redacted when it needs be, but there's always a constant "they don't admit they lie".

So why don't people just stop watching or reading the news and believe all the conspiracy crap they wish?

Logic, consistency, and verification/rebuttal by other sources.

You have to sort it out for yourself.

It might have something to do with over saturation from too many alleged news outlets. Up until CNN and the Gulf War, news was never a big money maker. It was a service to the public.

So this gives her permission to denigrate and slander and lie about anyone she wants and/or dislikes and there's not a damn thing they can do about it because her program isn't a news program. Great! A real intelligent decision!

Exactly. Maybe "News" programs that are actually entertainment fiction should carry a banner warning up front for those who can't tell the difference. Bias is one thing, with a little effort you can get past that, but offering up BS like it's fact is making a major contribution to the divisivness that is gripping the continent. Sure most of it is coming from people who have no brains, but they get a vote too and politicians with no scruples are turning that into political hay.

Well since Dixie was commenting on the American Rachel Madow, figured to bring up the same thing only on the extreme right of things in Tuckums.

But evidently it went over her head, as most things do.
Except Carson usually has facts to b@ck up his statements
