Well we know that there is one riding that won't get squat from the feds. Since they are so green we should remove the carbon fuel burning ferries to their rich islands.
It's not that i mind the greens so much but did they have to elect the flakyist one of the bunch?
I predict that she will make such a fool of herself that the greens will never get another member elected again.

That was the whole point. The green party as a whole decided to focus on getting her in instead of trying to get everyone in. And as it turned out, they succeeded.

Think about that for a second. Does it make more sense to just try and get a voice in parliament if you have none or does it make more sense to spread out your efforts across the whole country?

Okay, I've thought about it - it does make sense. I just wish it had been any other Green 'voice' but hers, IMHO.

And sorry to say, but any women trying to use the gender card to win an argument or somehow gain more support is just as bad a some guy saying they can do the job better because they're a man.

Sure some men have used that argument for decades or even centuries, but it was never right then, it's not right now, and neither is the woman card.

I can't believe I actually found something we both agree about, Praxius! See it can be done! I just about screamed when she said 'female'. I thought of all the women politicians who have gone before her - Elsie Wayne (not sure about the last name - Conservative from the Maritimes) or the mayor of Hamilton came to mind - they slugged it out in the trenches with the big boys without the necessity of using their gender to achieve their goals.

When a woman resorts to such tactics she demeans all of us who have worked alongside men without thought of special treatment - or separate bathrooms sometimes :)lol:)

Ms May would do well to leave her gender out of any comments she makes of a political nature. There are many women in Canada, myself included who would see this as a liability and thus not be quite so open to the message she is supposed to be carrying for her party. IMHO

Well she beat an idiot, mind you he was not very tall and really should have had a life as a Dwarf in Dwarf Tossing competitions.

Ooooooooh...nasty. :p But really funny! I remember the first time I saw him on TV - he was being given his cabinet post and as he walked into view, I remember thinking - does he wear lifts? I know that is awful, isn't it. LOL!

Yes, well, you are pretty annoying too, but we wouldn't dream of telling you to shut up.

Well, you don't pay me and I don't work for you, so I can do as I please.

This is not the case with May, I pay her (my tx $) and I expect her to behave herself within the rules and standard I set out for her and to do her proposed job within.
She accepted my terms when she decided to run for office.

Of course it can be done, just not often :p

I'm not a complete left or right thinking person.... I stick to the position that makes sense to me, and the above makes sense to me..... and it's well known that what makes sense to me doesn't always make sense to others and thus, conflicts and opinion tossing begins.

which is all in good fun, don'cha know

If the $$$ that the Feds send to the provinces via transfer payments does not make it to her constituency - I might just have a very hard look at the provincial government.

That would really be a shame, IMHO. I believe there is a place for the Green Party in our country and time in the House would go a long way to showing them the reality of government.

This in true in all walks of life, more or less.

We'll just have to wait and see what the next few years brings, and see if she gets re-elected.

About time. Finally, a million Canadian voters have a single representative - only about one-fifteenth what they should have under an intelligently designed voting system.

The fact that Elizabeth May is a woman is irrelevant in my opinion.

What I find relevant is that, when the three non-governing parties tried their
coalition thing, and offered her a Senatorship to shut her up and purchase
her loyalty....she accepted (& I believe renounced he role as leader of the
Green Party) in about a heart beat, if I remember correctly, is a "Thanks
for the backing of the Green Party, but smell 'ya later!!" sort'a way.

She left a poor taste in my mouth on that one. Sure jumped the gun, before
the coalition even had power, she's abondoned her party, and those that
backed to to get here where she was.

We have an intellegent voting system, the flaw in it is that it allows a yappy women to run in it!!

She'll be history.
If her yapping doesn't vote her out, her health will fail her. She should worry about her weight rather than worrying about making everybody go green.
She is going to cost me money one way or another!!

Hopefully Harper won't be emulating the yappy flakey wing of his supporters. By stark contrast, he has more class than some of his supporters in this forum.

A few days after election, and things are back to normal...

wow some rude people..

Green will never become a serious party. she gets no time to speak and no money. she'll be like a stooge, just sitting there listening to everyone. she needs another 11 seats to get any privy power.

but if she seriously thinks that she'll gain anything from this, she is fooling herself.

you are a pig.

Politically she's a nonentity within parliament, personally she's objectionable and off putting.

The Greens have been around at least 25 years and this is the best they can do?
