MADD's `exorbitant costs' anger charity's volunteers - thestar.com
People who donate to Mothers Against Drunk Driving are told by the charity that most of the $12 million it raises annually is spent on good works — stopping drunk driving and helping families traumatized by fatal crashes.

MADD's Metro board quits in funding spat
The future of MADD's Greater Vancouver chapter has been thrown into doubt after its board of directors resigned.
MADD director John Banovich said the six-member board quit June 1 over fundraising difficulties.
"We certainly have been challenged with fundraising, as a chapter," Banovich told The Province. "There was really no alternative."
National CEO Andrew Murie said from Toronto that the board resigned after it was told its annual grant was to be cut from $10,000 to $6,000, because of falling donations. In the year to June 2007, MADD Canada raised $6.6 million through fundraising, but paid $4.1 million, or 63 per cent, to professional fundraisers. Salaries and benefits were $1.8 million, including one salary of at least $119,999, and two between $80,000 and $119,999.
